Oomph! Celebrating outstanding activity provision

Oomph! visited Herefordshire RDA (rdahereford.org) where brighterkind Ross Court (brighterkind.com/ross-court/) resident Rosemary who is living with dementia was attending her second horse riding session.
Once an avid horse rider, Rosemary still has a lot of love for horses but has trouble with word finding and mobility. The first horse riding session recently with the RDA stimulated some forgotten memories in Rosemary. On the walk to the stables, Rosemary grabbed Activity Coordinator Amanda's arm and said 'I remember that smell'. It also helped recall many familiar actions such as leading the horse and the experience even stimulated some word finding. The Oomph! Foundation has enabled Amanda to book 10 weekly sessions so that Rosemary can regularly go horse riding. Rosemary's horse riding skills continue to improve. Amanda says It's like watching wires re-connect!.
