MacArthur Memorial At Morotai, Indonesia
Representatives from the Indonesian government were at the MacArthur Memorial's new visitor's center last month to ask for help as they prepare to build a museum on the island of Morotai.
During World War II, Morotai was the sight of the largest U.S. and Allied airfield in the South Pacific theater.
General MacArthur lead troops in that theater.
Once complete the two museums will promote each other, share artifacts and showcase special exhibits.

Open Water Scuba Diver dives to 35m - Catalina wreck ex WW II Biak West Papua

One of the favorite dive spots in Biak, Papua is the wreck of the Catalina. A US seaplane, the Catalina served during the Pacific War against the Japanese and now lies virtually intact on the seabed east of the port of Biak.
The Catalina fleet, which was produced by the Consolidated Aircraft company between 1930 and 1940, were equipped with bombs, torpedoes and machine guns, and were frequently used in various missions during World War II.
There are no records regarding when and why the aircraft, which is 16.25 meters long with a wing span of 27.2 meters, was downed. However, as the fuselage remains intact without traces of enemy shelling, it would appear the seaplane may have suffered engine trouble before plunging into the sea.
Lying undamaged at a depth of 30 meters, the Catalina is now home to angelfish, lionfish, damselfish and other smaller fish that swarm around the wreckage. Coral reefs have also taken hold and covered several parts of the aircraft.
Hopefully, the Catalina will continue to be maintained as a historic site of World War II as the mystery surrounding this plane has always been a magnet for curious local and foreign divers.
PS:
The right wing touches the depth of 35 meter.

Battleship West Papua
Today The Freedom Flotilla West Papua has chosen to respond to the joint US and Australian 'war games' with a direct action on the high seas, drawing attention to the West Papuan struggle for independence against the cruel Indonesian occupation.
The Flotilla are focusing on the US and Australia's engagement in enabling and supporting this occupation, which dates back to the flawed 1961 U.N. facilitated takeover of West Papua. Both US and Australian ongoing financial and
Military support has continued to the present day as have the subsequent widely reported killings and human rights violations in West Papua by Indoensian forces.
West Papua has been under Indonesian military occupation since the 1969 vote when Indonesia handpicked 1025 West Papuans who were forced to vote at Indonesian gunpoint. Since, West Papua has suffered a widely reported genocide with now over 500,000 Papuan citizens killed, raped and tortured. Flotilla initiator, Arabunna Elder Kevin Buzzacott, says that We can no longer have this murder on our doorstep
''Australia and the U.S. are complicit in the genocide happening in West Papua. The blood of west Papua is on your hands'' Izzy Brown – Freedom Flotilla West Papua
The 2014 U.S Department of State report on Human rights released recently highlighted Indonesian forces continued human rights abuses in West Papua. This report revealed systematic cover ups of torture and killings.
Freeport mine is also renowned for complicity and systematic human rights abuses by security forces employed by Freeport including surveillance, mental torture, death threats and house arrest. Freeport’s operations in West Papua have caused severe degradation to the Amungme people's environment and habitat, contributing to the ongoing cultural genocide throughtout West Papua.
The Australian government reduced foreign aid to Indonesia this year but funding, including Indonesian police training and assistance have remained to secure fragile relations between the nations. Indonesian forces are guilty of gross human rights violations and Australia has to stop funding and feeding the fear and brutal killings.
West Papuan people are struggling for freedom. Many Papuans are struggling for their lives. They have asked for our help. We helped the Timorese in their time of need.
The people of West Papua also deserve our support.

The Aitape–Wewak campaign was one of the final campaigns of the Pacific Theatre of World War II.Between November 1944 and the end of the war in August 1945, the Australian 6th Division, with air and naval support, fought the Imperial Japanese 18th Army in northern New Guinea.Considered a mopping up operation by the Australians, and although ultimately successful for them with the Japanese forces cleared from the coastal areas and driven inland, amidst difficult jungle conditions, casualties from combat and disease were high. With Japan on the verge of defeat, such casualties later led to the strategic necessity of the campaign being called into question.
