Rhossili Bay & Worm's Head - South Wales | Harry's Hikes
This is a great coastal hike which passes long sandy beaches while you kill time for the tide to go out before tackling Worm's Head.
Rhossili Bay is a Surfer's paradise with long and wide waves it's ideal for the beginners who want to learn the skill of surfing. There is a Surf school nearby.
Worm's Head can only be accessed during a narrow low tide window. Historically named 'Wurm' meaning 'dragon' by Viking invaders, the promontory, Worm's Head, is shaped like a giant sea-serpent and marks the most westerly tip of Gower. After checking the low tide times you may have time to pass so enjoy walking along Rhossili Bay on top of the dunes and back along the sandy beach.
Then head up back towards the car park and across the cliff tops to where you will see the Coastguard Station. From there double check the times so you know when you need to return. Make your way down to the causeway and make your way across to the base of Worm's head. You can either walk along the top of the base or around it and onto the next causeway which is a bit more treacherous so be careful not to slip.
You will then see Devil's Bridge which you can cross over onto the Outer Head. Keep going all the way to the tip of the Worm's Head and you've made it!
Don't spend too long there as you will need to make your way back before the tide begins to turn. If you're lucky you may see some seals in the water or resting on the rocks!

A time lapse video I took of the tide rising at Rhossili UK on a camping trip. At low tide a land bridge forms to Worm's Head, as the tide rises it becomes an island again.

Rhossili Down & Worms Head Walk was about 8 miles in distance. The terrain of the route was a combination of field and hill paths; tracks and some short road sections; plus rocky causeway with some scrambling. Much of the walk is on level or undulating ground with two steep ascents and descents. Route finding was very easy with good waymarking and obvious landmarks. Some of the paths were a little muddy in places and there were no stiles to negotiate. This walk can be treated as two separate circular walks of 4 miles each. If you want walk onto Worms Head, check the tide times beforehand to decide which walk to do first.

Rhossili Down And Worms Head Day Hiking Gower Peninsula Wales UK
Myself and my partner, Anne, did this 8 mile day hiking trip whilst we visited the Gower Peninsula in South Wales on a Hiking Holiday during October 2010. This Hike can be done as just Rhossili Down at 4 miles, just Worms Head at 4 miles or both at 8 miles depending on the tide times. If you want to do both parts, use the tide times for crossing to Worms Head to determine which section to do first. We did Rhossili Down early in the morning to catch the low tide for crossing to Worms Head later in the day.

Rhossili Worm's Head - The most beautiful ridge run in the uk
May 28th 2016. After a frustrating morning inland being concerned about overdevelopment and thunderstorms, Steve Bain suggested a trip to Rhossili having checked the conditions from a weather station.
I've never flown the cliffs, and this serene smooth flight with idyllic views of Worm's Head will remain with me until the day I die. The video really does not do it justice, and I'm so chuffed to have shared the experience with Steve Bain, Steve Watkins, many walkers, and patrons of the Worm's Head Hotel bar (
I'm privileged to have paragliding as a passion and to experience flights such as these.

HIKING SOUTH WALES | RHOSSILI BEACH | WORMS HEAD (Part 2) [AD]
Part 2 of my South Wales hiking trip saw Pip and I head to Rhossili Beach on the Gower Peninsula in South Wales. We did the headland walk (but couldn't cross to worms head, sadly), hiked over the Beacon which overlooks Rhossili Bay, and did the beach walk back...which allows dogs :) As you can see, we had stunning weather during our day here in March!

Time-Lapse of Rising Tide at Worm's Head, Gower Peninsula, Wales, U.K.
This is the tidal island where the poet Dylan Thomas once got stranded and was forced to spend the night. Thankfully, I got off safely today. The weather was too grey for a good time-lapse, but I wanted to show the rising tide. I got attacked by a swarm of flying ants while this was completing, which is the clouds of insects you can see in front of the lens towards the end.

In this video I enjoy a Monday walk from Mewslade and Back to Rhossili on the Gower Peninsula in Swansea, in the October Sunshine.
I've not been to Mewslade for a few years now and have not walked the coast path from that side since that time. But it was worth it in this Stunning location.
I called in to have a look around Mewslade Beach and Likewise Fall Bay Beach and made my way back to Rhossili, after 5 and and half hours in making this video!
All was rewarded with a visit to the Roma Fish Bar in Penclawdd! :-)
