Tropical Paradise - Barbados - Hastings Beach, Christchurch, South Coast
Hastings, Christchurch Parish, South Coast, Barbados
This is the beach in Hastings, on the south coast of Barbados in Christchurch Parish. There's a boardwalk running along the beach from Hastings in the west, east to Rockley and Accra Beach, where you'll find Accra Beach Resort. East of Rockley/Accra Beach is Worthing. East of Worthing are St. Lawrence and Graeme Hall Swamp. Graeme Hall used to be a wildlife reserve, but it's been closed for some time now. St. Lawrence Gap is known as a busy nightlife tourist strip. Oistins, the main town on the south coast, is east of St. Lawrence. You'll find Miami Beach aka. Enterprise Beach, at the eastern end of Oistins. This beach is popular with Barbadians on the weekend. Oistins, which started out as a fishing village, is known for its fish fry on Friday nights, which is popular with both tourists and locals. East of Oistins, on the ABC Highway, is Grantley Adams International Airport. East of the airport is rural farmland intermixed with housing developments in St. Philip Parish, and the rough waters of the east coast, facing the open Atlantic Ocean.
Highway 7 is the main road running along the south coast, an area with lots of hotels, restaurants, and shopping centres geared towards tourists. There are nice white sand beaches running all along the coast down to South Point. East of South Point, the water is going to be rougher because you're facing the open Atlantic Ocean instead of the calmer and more sheltered Caribbean Sea.
Founded in 1836, Hastings was one of Barbados' 1st tourist resorts. The town is home to the Mallalieu Motor Collection, a car museum featuring more than 20 vintage cars from the private collection of Bill Mallalieu. It costs $10usd to visit. The ArtSplash Centre in Hastings hosts community events.
Heading north from Hastings, Hwy 7 turns into Bay Street, and you head into the Garrison area. This is where you'll find the Garrison Savannah, a historic military parade grounds turned into a horse-racing track. There are horse stables nearby, as well as lots of old British military buildings around the track. There are old barracks on one side of the Garrison Savannah. On the other side is St. Ann's Fort, which is still used by the Barbados Defence Force today. North of the Savannah is George Washington House, where the 1st US president stayed during his visit to Barbados. The house is now a museum open to the public. The Barbados Museum, which is nearby, is housed in a former British military prison.
Further north, Bay St. heads into the capital, Bridgetown. North of town is the west coast, another major tourist area. The main road goes up to Holetown, the place where English colonists 1st landed in 1627, and Speightstown, the 2nd biggest town on the island.

Rockley Beach Barbados
This video is shot at Rockley Beach in Barbados. Rockley Beach is on the south side of Barbados.
Rockley Beach, also called Accra Beach, is located in the parish of Christ Church, in the southern part of the country, 5 km southeast of the capital Bridgetown.
it is a perfect excursion destination but there are also several hotels on the beach where you can live as a king or queen. :-)
We also made a quick stop on the Worthing Beach. Worthing Beach is also located in the parish of Christ Church, along the south coast of the island.
The climate in Barbados is tropical, with a rainy season lasting from June to October. Hurricanes occur at irregular intervals. However, due to the island's location, it is not affected by hurricanes and other tropical storms as often as one might think, as it lies just east of the hurricane belt.
The biggest environmental problems are that the coastal water is polluted by ship waste, that garbage is dumped where there is a risk of drinking water pollution and soil erosion.
Barbados is one of the most developed countries in the Caribbean with a regionally high per capita GDP. The health care and education sectors are of a relatively high standard.
The country's economy depended on sugar, rum and molasses for most of the 20th century. During the 1990s, tourism and the manufacturing industry became economically more important than the sugar industry. In order to reduce unemployment, the government encourages foreign investors. The Mount Gay distillery, founded in 1703, is still operating on the island.
Financial services and light manufacturing are important industries that have passed the traditional sugar industry, which remains mostly as raw material for rum making, which has, however, increased.
Continued economic development is strongly dependent on the US and Europe economy.

Christ Church Parish Church Barbados
The current Christ Church Parish Church located in Oistins Christ Church Barbados was built in 1935 & is the 5th Parish Church on the site . At various times the previous structures have all been destroyed by natural disasters including flood , fire or hurricanes. The original parish church was built in 1629 was located near Dover Beach. In 1669 the church was destroyed by a flood , which scatted coffins & bones across from the church cemetery across the beach . The next church was destroyed in the hurricane of 1780 . Another Parish Church was built in 1786 & was again destroyed by the hurricane of 1831. The new church was then destroyed by the fire of 1935 . The church is known for its churchyard which contains the notorious Chase Vault , in which coffins have been said to mysteriously move around within the sealed vault. A detailed investigation by the Governor of Barbados & members of his staff was made in 1820 but it offered no explanation & the coffins were eventually each buried separately after further recurrences . Today visitors are able to visit the vault at the church site.

Bridgetown, Barbados - Downtown HD (2015)
Bridgetown (metropolitan pop 110,000 (2014)) is the capital and largest city of the nation of Barbados. Formerly, the Town of Saint Michael, the Greater Bridgetown area is located within the parish of Saint Michael. Bridgetown is sometimes locally referred to as The City, but the most common reference is simply Town.
The Bridgetown port, found along Carlisle Bay (at 13.106°N 59.632°W) lies on the southwestern coast of the island. Parts of the Greater Bridgetown area (as roughly defined by the Ring Road Bypass or more commonly known as the ABC Highway),[3] sit close to the borders of the neighbouring parishes Christ Church and St. James. The Grantley Adams International Airport for Barbados, is located 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) southeast of Bridgetown city centre, and has daily flights to major cities in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and the Caribbean. While there is no longer local municipal government, it is governed as a political constituency within the national Parliament. During the short lived 1950s-1960s Federation of the British West Indian Territories, Bridgetown was one of three capital cities[4] within the region being considered to be the Federal capital of region.
The present day location of the city was established by English settlers in 1628 following a prior settlement under the authority of Sir William Courten at St. James Town. Bridgetown is a major West Indies tourist destination, and the city acts as an important financial, informatics, convention centre, and cruise ship port of call in the Caribbean region. On 25 June 2011, Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison were added as a World Heritage Site of UNESCO.

Farley Hill Park, Barbados
Flying the F450 around Farley Hill National Park in Barbados.
Building of Farley Hill house began in 1818, with additional rooms being added over the next 50 years. It eventually grew to be regarded as the most impressive mansion in Barbados. In the mid-nineteenth century the property was owned by Sir Graham Briggs, a wealthy British planter and legislator. Briggs improved not only the house, but also the gardens, importing many new plants and trees into the island.
In 1965, the house was used in the film Island in the Sun but was subsequently destroyed by fire. Farley Hill was officially opened as a national park by HM Queen Elizabeth II in 1966, the same year Barbados gained independence.
