MOUNT ELEPHANT | XIANGSHAN | TAIWAN
Xiangshan , also known as Elephant Mountain or Mount Elephant, is a mountain in Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan.
It is close to the Taipei Metro Xiangshan Station, in the Eastbound direction and exit the station through Exit 2. Once at the top of the escalator, simply walk straight along the sidewalk with the park to your left until you reach the end of the street. It's just a 10 minute walk from the Xiangshan Station to Xiangshan Trail.
Elephant Mountain Hiking Trail view of the Taiwan's Taipei City and Taipei 101
On clear days, the view from Elephant Mountain offers stunning views of Taipei City and the Taipei 101 building. Come up in the evening and the lights will blow you away. It is no wonder it's such a popular place for photographers.
For the best view of Taipei City, make a hike to the top of Elephant Mountain!
Also known as the Nangang District Hiking Trail and Xiangshan (象山), the hiking trail is located close to the Xinyi Shopping District and Taipei 101.
The best time to hike the mountain is during late afternoon, this way you can catch the sunset as well as a daytime view and stunning nighttime view of the city, however the trail can get relatively crowded during the weekend.
The hike takes a total of around 15-20 minutes to the top, and includes lots of stairs! Remember to take a left at the fork in the path. After around 8-10 minutes, there will be a landing area with facilities and restrooms where the path branches off in multiple directions.
From Taipei 101:
From the base of Taipei 101, walk east on Xinyi Road (信義路) for two blocks until you reach MRT Xiangshan Station, only a 15 minute walk from 101 and completely worth it. To get there faster, take a YouBike from the station across the street from 101 (MRT Exit 2), then return the bike at the park nearby the trail entrance.
After arriving at Xiangshan station (象山), the terminus of Red Line 2, leave from Exit 2 and continue walking alongside the edge of the park. At the end of this road, take a left and follow until the entrance for Xiangshan Hiking Trail (象山登山步道), total 650 metres, around 20 mins.
Xinyi Line reduces congestion on Taipei MRT network
Monday was the first regular working day since Taipei MRT's Xinyi Line opened. Some commuters were confused by changes to the MRT network, but officials were pleased to see reduced congestion at major transfer stations. The opening of the Xinyi Line proved to be a difficult test for many commuters who needed to transfer. I can't tell if it passes through Guting Station on the way to Xiangshan Station. But it's too early for there to be MRT workers here to ask.Fortunately, just after 7 am staff wearing yellow service vests emblazoned with the words Ask me arrived. Each level had four to six helpers on duty. Both Guting and CKS Memorial Hall Station have two MRT lines sharing the same platform, irritating this confused passenger. I want to go to Guting and he wants to go to Taipower Buil

The Taipei 101 (Chinese: 臺北101/台北101; pinyin: Táiběi yī líng yī; stylized as TAIPEI 101[1]) formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center (臺北國際金融中心), is a supertall skyscraper designed by C.Y. Lee & Partners in Xinyi, Taipei, Taiwan. This building was officially classified as the world's tallest from its opening in 2004 until the 2010 completion of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Its elevators, capable of traveling 60.6 km/h (37.7 mph) and used to transport passengers from the 5th to 89th floor in 37 seconds, set new records upon completion.[9] In 2011 Taipei 101 received a Platinum rating under the LEED certification system to become the tallest and largest green building in the world.[10][11] The structure regularly appears as an icon of Taipei in international media, and the Taipei 101 fireworks displays [zh] are a regular feature of New Year's Eve broadcasts.
Taipei 101's postmodernist architectural style evokes traditional Asian aesthetics in a modern structure employing industrial materials. Its design incorporates a number of features that enable the structure to withstand the Pacific Rim's earthquakes and the region's tropical storms. The tower houses offices and restaurants as well as both indoor and outdoor observatories. The tower is adjoined by a multilevel shopping mall that has the world's largest ruyi symbol as an exterior feature.

The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall (Chinese: 國立中正紀念堂) is a famous national monument, landmark and tourist attraction erected in memory of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, former President of the Republic of China. It is located in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan.
The monument, surrounded by a park, stands at the east end of Memorial Hall Square. It is flanked on the north and south by the National Theater and National Concert Hall.
The Memorial Hall is white with four sides. The roof is blue and octagonal, a shape that picks up the symbolism of the number eight, a number traditionally associated in China with abundance and good fortune. Two sets of white stairs, each with 89 steps to represent Chiang's age at the time of his death, lead to the main entrance. The ground level of the memorial houses a library and a museum documenting Chiang Kai-shek's life and career, with exhibits detailing Taiwan's history and development. The upper level contains the main hall, in which a large statue of Chiang Kai-shek is located, and where a guard mounting ceremony takes place at regular intervals.

TAIPEI, TAIWAN VLOG: Wufenpu, Elephant Trail, Xinyi Shopping
Heelllooooo y'all! It's good to be back to my second home, Taipei.
I only had a couple days left in Taiwan before I returned back to Toronto, so I had to seize every single day :') So of course, I hit up my fav spots like Wufenpu and Xinyi district.
Wufenpu- Looooots of cheap and trendy clothes. Obviously, the quality isn't the best, but you're only paying like $3~$10 per top.
Elephant Trail- Highllyyyy recommend doing this trail. It's not a super difficult one, but you will sweat. So make sure you come ready in your running shoes and comfortable clothes. I saw girls in slight heels doing this trail... I dunno how they did it... But the steps does get quite steep. Getting to the Elephant Mountain trail is easy. Simply take the MRT to Xiangshan Station, take exit 2, and follow the signs that show you the way to the hiking trail.
Xinyi District- Tons of different department stores and malls here. You'll for sure find what you need. I sure did :3 I bought a Moomin pillow... I will feature it soon in my new home.

Guide to the Taipei Main Station Underground Market | Wherever I Want
To access my library of free travel resources, click here:
If you want to go shopping and stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer, head to the Taipei Main Station Underground Market! Centrally located, you can find all kinds of products there, from jade watches to umbrellas to electronics to suitcases and hairbrushes!
To go, take the subway on the red (XinYi) or blue (Bannan) lines to the center of Taiwan transportation. Follow the signs to any of the multitude of stalls and small shops there!
One of the benefits of buying from this area is that you can be assured of the quality of whatever you're buying. If you pay a lot - unless it's jade - you can expect it to last a long while. If you do buy jade, it's best if you know a little bit about telling between valuable and cheap jade.
Another tip: Don't forget to haggle! While many of the products you see will have a set price written, many of them do not. Products that have a set price may be discounted if you buy multiples or reach a certain threshold of spending. Things that don't have a displayed price are more likely to be discounted! Try naming a price about 30% of what the shopkeeper says and take the haggling from there.

Taiwan Walk - Xiangshan / Elephant Mountain (象山) - 4K
In this video we’ll show you Xiangshan / Elephant Mountain (象山), Taipei.
Xiangshan derives its name from its external shape (“xiang” means elephant in Chinese) and is located at the south-eastern section of Xinyi District. Its composition is mainly sandstone, akin to that of Hushan. The tawny cliffs and giant rocks along the path, coupled with numerous natural life forms and birds, make the entire mountain resemble a natural ecological paradise. It’s a great place for the general public to enjoy outdoor leisure time and bask in the beauty of nature.
Along the trail there are explanatory sign boards providing information to visitors concerning the environment. The diversified cliff and slope terrains form a great nurturing ground for fern-family plants. In particular, the quantity of Taiwanese Cibotium (Cibotium taiwanianum) and Flying Spider-monkey Tree Fern (Cyathea lepifera) ranks top in Taipei City.
Back in the days when medicine was not as advanced as it is today, Taiwanese Cibotium was commonly used to stop bleeding. The Flying Spider-monkey Tree Fern, on the other hand, is the most valuable ecological feature of Taipei City.
Standing on the top of Xiangshan, the entire Taipei Basin is right under your eyes. The extension of the ridge reaches into Zhongqiang Park of Xinyi District, and therefore has become the best evening stroll venue for local residents. It is also a great vacation spot for people to relax and relieve stress.
The Six Giant Rocks
“Laolaixia” is the name given to Xiangshan’s landscape of peculiar giant rocks. On top of these rocks, the entire view of the bustling Xinyi District is captured; it is a popular spot for photo-taking. The rising sun juxtaposed with Taipei 101 and the slumbering Xinyi District skyscrapers provide endless pictures of enjoyment throughout the day and night.
