Hiking Yahoo Falls in McCreary County, Kentucky
A very short hike to the spectacular Yahoo Falls, Kentucky's highest waterfall with a 113 foot drop. The falls, found along Yahoo Creek, is located in the Yahoo Falls Scenic Area, a part of the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, in McCreary County, Kentucky. The trail is a lollipop loop and is very short and pretty easy. The upper part of the loop passes over the top of the bluffs and offers some views of Cumberland Lake as well as the falls from above. The lower portion of the trail passes behind the waterfall and under an amazing rock overhang, along the base of the cliffs, and then climbs a large series of stairs to reconnect with the upper trail and parking area. There are some other interesting trails in the area as well, but unfortunately I did not take the time to explore those. Thanks so much for watching!

Yahoo Falls 4K Waterfall views
Yahoo Falls is in the Big South Fork National Recreation Area, near Whitley City, Kentucky. From Kentucky 27, head west on 700 for 4 miles. Signs indicate how to get to the falls.
The trail to the falls is about 1 mile long, and is quite scenic. You can walk right up to the base of the falls, and behind the falls. The trails go up around the top of the falls, but the overlooks are overgrown and the views are not very good. The trails continue past the falls to Yahoo Arch. Music from Epidemic Sound (
