Yakushiji Temple, Nara - 薬師寺●奈良 - Japan As It Truly Is
Yakushiji is one of Nara's finest temples and one of Japan's best, completed around 698 AD. Sadly it's often overlooked by many.
Yakushiji in Nara is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It was built by Emperor Tenmu as a place to pray for his sick consort, but he died before its was finished. Yakushiji has been moved twice, and has been in its present location since 718 AD, just after Nara became Japan's new capital. Part of Yakushiji is under renovation, to be completed in 2018.
Yakushiji is a short walk from the Kintetsu Nishinokyo Station, and often visited along with the Toshodaiji Temple

Yakushiji temple in Nara city - Taste of 8th Century - Japan Trip
Yakushiji temple is located a bit off in the distance from Todaiji temple, which is the most popular spot in Nara. So you'll see much less tourists here.
The history of the temple is quite old, but you can enjoy the real brilliance of Buddhist architectures in the 8th century because most of the buildings were reconstructed in the late 20th century in accordance with their original buildings.
Besides, some Buddhist statues of this temple are said to be masterpieces of Buddhist statues of the 7th to 8th century. They are definitely must-sees.
Why don't you pick this temple as one of the destinations of your trip in Japan?
Thank you.
Ancient city Nara(Japan) Yakushi-ji (薬師寺)
Yakushi-ji (薬師寺) is one of the most famous imperial and ancient Buddhist temples in Japan, located in Nara. The temple is the headquarters of the Hossō school of Japanese Buddhism. Yakushi-ji is one of the sites that are collectively inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, under the name of Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara.
The main object of veneration, Yakushi Nyorai, also named The Medicine Buddha, was one of first Buddhist Deities to arrive in Japan from China in 680, and gives the temple its name.-Transcribed from Wikipedia-

Horin-ji Temple ( 法輪寺 )
Description
————————————————————————
Horin-ji Temple was constructed in the year 622 at a location close to the World Heritage site of Horyu-ji Temple. Its original three-story pagoda, which had been commended and had been one of the three pagodas alongside those of Horyu-ji and Hokki-ji Temples that were collectively called the Three Pagodas of Ikaruga, had burned down but was rebuilt in 1975. A beautiful landscape has been created to adorn the Ikaruga area.

Nara & Yakushi-ji temple
Last day in Nara and we took the bus to go visit Yakushi-ji temple, a very old and beautiful buddhist temple with two pagodas, including an original one (which was under repair haha).
Also, we started the day by having breakfast under our kotatsu, this magical heating table coverred with a thick blanket... :)
