Yakutsk is located in the Central Yakutian Lowland and is a major port on the Lena River. It is served by the Yakutsk Airport as well as the smaller Magan Airport.
(2) YAKUSTK HISTORY --------------------------
______________________
The Yakuts, also known as the Sakha people, migrated to the area during the 13th and 14th centuries from other parts of Siberia. When they arrived they mixed with other indigenous Siberians in the area.[9] The Russian settlement of Yakutsk was founded in 1632 as an ostrog (fortress) by Pyotr Beketov. In 1639, it became the center of a voyevodstvo. The Voyevoda of Yakutsk soon became the most important Russian official in the region and directed expansion to the east and south.
(3)YAKUSTK CULTURE -------------------
______________________
There are several theaters in Yakutsk: the State Russian Drama Theater, named after A. S. Pushkin; the Sakha Theater, named after P. A. Oiyunsky; the Suorun Omoloon Young Spectator's Theater; and the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, named after D. K. Sivtsev.
There are a number of museums as well: the National Fine Arts Museum of Sakha; the Museum of Local Lore and History, named after E. Yaroslavsky; and the only museums in the world dedicated to the khomus and permafrost.
The annual Ysyakh summer festival takes place the last weekend in June. The traditional Yakut summer solstice festivities include a celebration of the revival and renewal of the nature, fertility and beginning of a new year. It is accompanied by national Yakut rituals and ceremonies, folk dancing, horse racing, Yakut ethnic music and singing, national cuisine, and competitions in traditional Yakut sports.[17]
There is a local punk scene[18] in Yakutsk, with many bands. Shows can bring up to 300 people, young but also older too.

Russia - Surgery performed while body is frozen
T/I: 10:39:40
A research institute in Russia says it has saved thousands of children by performing heart and brain surgery while their bodies are chilled to near freezing, avoiding the need for traditional anaesthetics. For almost 40 years the Institute of Circulation Pathology in the remote Siberian capital of Novosibirsk has been practicing the so called Siberian Method or hypothermia. Doctors in Novosibirsk believe their method is unique.
During operations using the method, the patient's body temperature is lowered to 24C, which is more than 13C lower than normal. All physical functions of the patient's body, including the brain, grind to a halt.
After about 70 minutes of extra-low temperature the body is brought back to normal circulation without any visible damage. According to the director of the Institute, Elena Litasova, this method gives the unique opportunity to conduct operations on heart and brain while all blood vessels are perfectly visible.

Moscow, Russia city tour
There are slides of Moscow Kremlin, Moskva river, Saint Basil's Cathedral, Moscow State University, Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Central Moscow skyline, Bolshoi Theatre, Red Square, State History Museum, The White House, VDNKh, etc.
Moscow is the capital and the largest city of Russia. Moscow is a major political, economic, cultural, and scientific center of Russia and Eastern Europe, as well as the largest city entirely on the European continent. By broader definitions Moscow is among the world's largest cities, it has been ranked as the ninth most expensive city in the world by Mercer and has one of the world's largest urban economies. Moscow is the northernmost and coldest megacity and metropolis on Earth. It is home to the Ostankino Tower, the tallest free standing structure in Europe; the Federation Tower, the tallest skyscraper in Europe; and the Moscow International Business Center.
Moscow is situated on the Moskva River in the Central Federal District of European Russia, making it the world's most populated inland city. The city is well known for its architecture, particularly its historic buildings such as Saint Basil's Cathedral with its brightly colored domes. With over 40 percent of its territory covered by greenery, it is one of the greenest capitals and major cities in Europe and the world, having the largest forest in an urban area within its borders—more than any other major city—even before its expansion in 2012.
The city has served as the capital of a progression of states, from the medieval Grand Duchy of Moscow and the subsequent Tsardom of Russia to the Soviet Union. Moscow is considered the center of Russian culture, having served as the home of Russian artists, scientists and sports figures and because of the presence of museums, academic and political institutions and theaters.
Moscow is the seat of power of the Government of Russia, being the site of the Moscow Kremlin, a medieval city-fortress that is today the residence of the Russian president. The Moscow Kremlin and Red Square are also one of several World Heritage Sites in the city. Both chambers of the Russian parliament (the State Duma and the Federation Council) also sit in the city.
The city is served by a transit network, which includes four international airports, nine railway terminals, numerous trams, a monorail system and one of the deepest underground metro systems in the world, the Moscow Metro, the fourth-largest in the world and largest outside of Asia in terms of passenger numbers, and the busiest in Europe. It is recognized as one of the city's landmarks due to the rich architecture of its 197 stations.
Moscow has acquired a number of epithets, most referring to its size and preeminent status within the nation: The Third Rome (Третий Рим), The Whitestone One (Белокаменная), The First Throne (Первопрестольная), The Forty Forties (Сорок Сороков), and The Hero City (город-герой). In old Russian the word Сорок (forty) also meant a church administrative district, which consisted of about forty churches. The demonym for a Moscow resident is москвич (moskvich), rendered in English as Muscovite.

Sardaana
Excerpts from Sardaana, performed by the Sakha National Theatre (central Siberia), Thomas Riccio devised and directed. This production applied traditional and shamanic performance expressions and in part was developed by using images, movements, words, and singing developed while performers were in trance states. This is in keeping with the shamanic tradition of the Sakha people.
