Exploring Himachal Pradesh, Manali, Rohtang, Jispa Part-2)
How to reach Manaali from Delhi
Burua House
#Himachal Pradesh
Himachal Pradesh is a state in the northern part of India. Situated in the Western Himalayas, it is bordered by union territory of Jammu and Kashmir on the north, Punjab on the west, Haryana on the southwest, Uttarakhand on the southeast, and Tibet on the east. At its southernmost point, it also touches the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Through its history, the region was mostly ruled by local kingdoms some of which accepted suzerainty of larger empires. Prior to India's independence from the British, Himachal comprised the hilly regions of Punjab Province of British India. After independence, many of the hilly territories were organised as the Chief Commissioner's province of Himachal Pradesh which later became a union territory. In 1966, hilly areas of neighbouring Punjab state were merged into Himachal and it was ultimately granted full statehood in 1971.
Himachal Pradesh is spread across valleys with many perennial rivers flowing through them. Almost 90% of the state's population lives in rural areas. Agriculture, horticulture, hydropower and tourism are important constituents of the state's economy. The hilly state is almost universally electrified with 99.5% of the households having electricity as of 2016.

#Manali
Manali is named after the Sanatan Hindu lawgiver Manu. The name Manali is regarded as the derivative of 'Manu-Alaya' which literally means 'the abode of Manu'. Legend has it that sage Manu stepped off his ark in Manali to recreate human life after a great flood had deluged the world. Manali lies in the North of Kullu Valley. The valley is often referred to as the 'Valley of the Gods'. Old Manali village has an ancient temple dedicated to sage Manu.
The British introduced apple trees in the area. The first apple orchard was set up by the British near Patlikuhl, before this, no Apple trees grew in the area. To this day, apple— along with plum and pear— remain the best source of income for the majority of inhabitants. Both Rainbow and Brown Trout was also introduced into the rivers and streams of the area by the colonisers.

#Hidimba Devi Temple (#Hadimba Temple)
Hidimba Devi Temple, locally known as Dhungari Temple,[1] also known variously as the Hadimba Temple, is located in Manāli, a hill station in the State of Himāchal Pradesh in north India. It is an ancient cave temple dedicated to Hidimbi Devi, wife of Bhima, a figure in the Indian epic Mahābhārata. The temple is surrounded by a cedar forest called Dhungiri Van Vihar at the foot of the Himālayas. The sanctuary is built over a huge rock jutting out of the ground which was worshiped as an image of the deity. The structure was built in 1553 by Maharaja Bahadur Singh.
The Hidimba Devi temple was built in 1553 AD by Maharaja Bahadur Singh. The temple is built around a cave where Devi Hidimba performed meditation. Hidimbi was supposed to have lived there with her brother Hidimb, and not much is known about their parents. Born into a Rakshasa family, Hidimba vowed to marry one who would defeat her brother Hidimb, who was supposed to be very brave and fearless. During the Pandava's exile, when they visited Manali; Bhima, one of the five Pandavas, killed Hidimb. Thereafter, Hidimba married Bhima and gave birth to their son Ghatotkacha.

LADAKH FOR KERELA
LADAKH FOR KERALA
Students at SECMOL campus cancelled their Kashmir trip and contributed the 200,000 rupees for Kerala flood victims, while staff contributed over 500,000 rupees. Then in a week-long collection campaign students raised roughly 400,000 ruppees in the streets of Leh... thus a total of 1.1 million rupees... and counting!
This was to give back a small part of the help Ladakh received in 2010 from the whole nation and for the students this experience was a part of their education... developping the 3 Hs and not just 3 Rs, especially the Kind Heart part (apart from Bright Head and Skilled Hands).
I appeal to you all to do your part for Kerala as people return to their destroyed homes.
You can contribute directly to the Chief MInisters' Relief Fund or other good initiatives. If you are not sure where to contribute... you are welcome to combine it with SECMOL's collection and we will make sure it reaches the right people.

Some Bridges in Zanskar
Here are some of the bridges we crossed on our trek in Zanskar in August 2015 with Yama Adventures. This was the Darcha to Padum trek over the Shingo La. The two wicker bridges were constructed after a flood in May knocked out the existing bridges.

Yaks in snow covered Himalayas of Ladakh
Yaks grazing in snow covered Himalayan mountains of Ladakh in Kashmir, India.
Yak is the dominant livestock species that support livelihoods for pastoralist of the Tibetan plateau and nearby Himalayan regions. Yak is a main source of livelihood for the high altitude residents in Ladakh.
Most yaks are domesticated, Bos grunniens. There is also a small, vulnerable population of wild yaks, Bos mutus. In the 1990s, a concerted effort was undertaken to help save the wild yak population.
Wild yaks are found primarily in northern Tibet and western Qinghai, with some populations extending into the southernmost parts of Xinjiang, and into Ladakh in India. Small, isolated populations of wild yak are also found farther afield, primarily in western Tibet and eastern Qinghai as well as some parts of Sichuan nearer to Huanglong. In historic times, wild yaks were also found in Nepal and Bhutan, but they are now considered extinct in both countries, except as domesticated animals.
The primary habitat of wild yaks consists of treeless uplands between 3,000 and 5,500 m (9,800 and 18,000 ft), dominated by mountains and plateaus. They are most commonly found in alpine meadows with a relatively thick carpet of grasses and sedges, rather than the more barren steppe country.

Gurudungmar Lake | North Sikkim
About the video-
Gurudungmar Lake, North Sikkim
I took the oppurtunity to visit Gurudongmar Lake (18000 ff)
High Altitude Terrains in Himalayas are always worth Seeing & more attractive when the entire route from Gangtok is Motorable. It is near to India China Border so the access to this Destination is controlled by Permission only. Foreigners are not allowed.
Permits is free for Indian Citizen & have to be applied offline from Gangtok or Mangan.
You have to stay one night in Lachen, in next early morning you have to start via Thangu Valley to Gurudongmar Lake. From Thangu Valley the terrain completly change with Rocks & Snow in a Pleatue type meadow to reach the Lake .
The Lake remain frozen from Dec to April , but when the blue water with the reflection of nearby Mountain falls its worth seeing.
The lake is simply divine ,very peacefull and calm.
But the journey to this place is really tiring as there are literally no roads and very less oxygen. Low bp patients and infants should not be carried.
BUT despite all this, Sikkim is not complete till you visit Gurudongmar.
Hello Friends im Soumen Paul & Thank you for taking out time to watch my video. SUBSCRIBE & LIKE the video if you enjoyed watching or Do COMMENT if you want to suggest something or Appreciate my effort. Thank You.
