Narita-san Omotesando ( 成田山表参道 )
Description
————————————————————————
Narita Station is just 10 minutes away from the airport. The 800m path leading to the temple from the station is an old town street where you can sample Japan through the famous regional delicacy of eel and traditional festivals. It would be a waste to simply visit Narita just to use the airport.

(JTLV2018) Highland Resort Hotel Yamanashi - Mitsubishi Traction Scenic (and Non-Scenic) Lifts
This set of 3 lifts come with a built in LCD indicator, which again is quite helpful in terms of information. The view from the scenic lifts are really nice, displaying the gorgeous Mt. Fuji. The internal lifts have voiceover, which is quite a neat addition to the lift itself. I like the way they place the indicator to a side of the transom panel - it looks really clean and modern (like other Japanese stuff). I do not know Japanese Mitsubishi models, but if I would have a guess, this would be ELEPAQ-i (Elenessa in other countries) because of the barrel-shaped buttons and long indicator.
Model: ELEPAQ-i ???
Type: Traction
Fixtures: LCD Indicator and barrel-shaped buttons (no tactile)
Speed: 1.6 m/s
Death Trap Rating: 0.5/10
Fear Rating: (Scenic) 1/10 (Non-Scenic): 2/10
Lift Ranking: S
Overall Percentage: 97.05%

Connected Yumenoshima, Tokyo Olympics 2020 (Competition Proposal)
A proposal for 4th Virtual Design World Cup for architecture students. Received Judge's Special Prize for Sustainable Design in Tokyo, November 2014.
Team :
Fajar Rezandi, James Nicol, Sabin Maguregui
Software used : Sketch Up & UC Win/Road
Our proposal focuses on aiding the existing connections for streamlined operation and efficiency, through designing new infrastructure at key transportation nodes. This will allow for simple and safe pedestrian movement around dense and fast paced vehicular routes. Proposing an integrated tram service throughout the Olympic site to provide a quicker alternative to walking that reduces traffic and pollution in the immediate area. Lowering the Menji Dori road that cuts through the Olympic site allows smooth connections between the venues on the new hard landscaped pedestrian routes.
The key transportation node we propose integrates tram and train stations on the lower part, and tower shaped buildings above it to accommodate commercial facilities, office space for Olympic delegations and media coverage offices, and accommodation for athletes and visitors. After the games, the new accommodation space could economically be converted for housing and facilities for residents. The towers will use seawater and ground source heat to cool and heat the buildings which in addition to heat recovery and double cladding systems aim to minimise their environmental impact.
This new infrastructure proposed will aid to deliver the desire ‘compact games’ concept for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by efficiently using transport lines and nodes and providing new facilities for the local users, but also will encourage further redevelopment of the city’s waterfront in the future.

DYA717 July 8, 2016 Toyama, Takaoka, Johana
6:30 a.m. breakfast at the Takaoka Manten Ekimae Hotel. Then BURA-BURA. Another hot, humid, steamy, wet-sticky-clothes day! After a 20-minute walk from my hotel, I visited Kanayamachi, an area where they have preserved one street of old metal-casters and copperware makers. I mentioned that this city has many copper sculptures on display everywhere. Apparently they’re not afraid of copper DO-RO-BO-s like you know who/where! Copper drains, pipes, sidings, etc are everywhere. Then I walked along Yamachosuji (street lined with storehouses), another street with old preserved buildings, this time merchant storehouses. Most are now residences on top with some kind of store on the street level.
Uuuuuuuu, had plenty time so I jumped on the local train, my 1-car limo ride and went one hour to the end-of-the-line city, Johana. The tourist information office didn’t have English brochures but the lady spoke plenty good English. I followed her directions and first walked to Zentoku-ji, a Buddhist temple. This temple is over 500 years old and has many valuable aritifacts. A nice bell tower and a nice statue. Unfortunately I didn’t get an English brochure so I was only able to look around without knowing what’s what. It is worth a visit if you’re in the neighborhood.
Then I mosied to a sushi restaurant nearby which was recommended by the lady at the tourist information office. No English menu but the master spoke enough English to help me out. I had a small bowl of I guess chirashi sushi. ONO! I was taking pictures of the restaurant and the chef showed me a special room. Something like his man-cave and reserved for special dining, I guess. He has his New York Yankees memorabilia displayed there and he invited me in. I didn’t get the name of the Yankees’ Japanese player his is a fan of. He mentioned that the city of Johana has an annual Johana Hikiyama festival and pointed me out to the festival floats/artifacts museum. 510-yen to get in. This festival is held on May 5th so maybe that is something to look forward to in 2017.
I rushed back to the train station to catch the next local train back to Takaoka. Whew, not much written here but it seems like I did a lot and am tired.
