Imperial Japanese Navy Battleship Yamato, Very Rare Pictures
Rare pictures of Imperial Japanese Navy Battleship Yamato and or possibly Musashi from 1943 or 1944? Found in town near Kure Naval Base, Japan. The Yamato/Mushasi was the world's largest and most powerful warships ever built. The Yamato-class battleships were battleships of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) constructed and operated during World War II. Displacing 72,000 long tons (73,000 t) at full load, the vessels of the class were the heaviest and most heavily-armed battleships ever constructed. The class carried the largest naval artillery ever fitted to a warship, nine 460-millimetre (18.1 in) naval guns, each capable of firing 2,998-pound (1,360 kg) shells over 26 miles (42 km). Two battleships of the class (Yamato and Musashi) were completed, while a third (Shinano) was converted to an aircraft carrier during construction.
Due to the threat of American submarines and aircraft carriers, both Yamato and Musashi spent the majority of their careers in naval bases at Brunei, Truk, and Kure—deploying on several occasions in response to US raids on Japanese bases—before participating in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, as part of Admiral Kurita's Centre Force. Musashi was sunk during the course of the battle by American carrier airplanes. Shinano was sunk ten days after her commissioning in November 1944 by the submarine USS Archer-Fish, while Yamato was sunk in April 1945 during Operation Ten-Go.
On the eve of the Allies' occupation of Japan, special-service officers of the Imperial Japanese Navy destroyed virtually all records, drawings, and photographs of or relating to the Yamato-class battleships, leaving only fragmentary records of the design characteristics and other technical matters. The destruction of these documents was so efficient that until 1948 the only known images of the Yamato and Musashi were those taken by United States Navy aircraft involved in the attacks on the two battleships. Although some additional photographs and information, from documents that were not destroyed, have come to light over the years, the loss of the majority of written records for the class has made extensive research into the Yamato-class somewhat difficult.[6][7] Because of the lack of written records, information on the class largely came from interviews of Japanese officers following Japan's surrender.[8]

Naval Legends: Yamato | World of Warships
The Yamato battleship is the pinnacle of the battleship type. The biggest battleship in the world, and the best known Japanese Navy ship. Sadly remembered for her defeat in her last battle against 227 American aircraft, which became a demonstrative execution and ended with the giant being defeated and the hopes of the Japanese command crashed.
Built in secret, and at great expense, she emerged as the largest battleship in history.
Born to terrify her enemies, she'd cost eight billion USD to build in today's dollars. She represents the pinnacle of battleship building, but launched at a key turning point in naval warfare history. The rise of aircraft-based naval combat left her immensely powerful, but ill-equipped to fight sustained air attacks. Still, nothing captures the imagination of naval aficionados quite like Yamato. There's a mountain of knowledge just below the surface. Press Play!
Naval Legends is a series about the construction, service, and daring deeds of legendary 20th-century ships.

Yamamoto's Plane Wreck
Visit to Admiral Yamamoto's remote jungle plane wreck on Bougainville Island. The Pearl Harbor mastermind's Betty Bomber was shot down by U.S. P38 fighters (Operation Vengeance) April 18, 1943, near Buin, setting back the Japanese war effort. No one had been there for years. (Betty=Mitsubishi G4M Hamak.1) We were there to see the fish market at Buin, but thought this would be an interesting side trip. Previous removal of parts by Japanese leads to confusion. But this is the real deal. If you've seen Tora Tora Tora, this is how it ended for the reluctant warrior. Another Betty in the formation crashed into the sea.

LEGO Battleship Yamato Model Sinking
Here is a video of my LEGO model of the Imperial Japanese Navy battleship, the Yamato, being sunk in my swimming pool. The model is around 3½' feet long, and took around twenty hours to contruct. I used drawings and photographs of the actual ship for reference in building this model and tried to as accurately as I could replicate and scale down the ship for this model. Pictures of the 1/10 scale model from the Yamato Museum in Kure, Hiroshima, Japan helped the most when trying to build it. My favorite part of the model to build was the three 18-Inch gun turrents, I thought they turned out cool. The hardest part of the model to build was probably the superstructure, in real life its so complex and I dont have many eccentric lego parts to replicate it that well. The hull of the ship is also constructed out of Mega Blocks because I do not have enough gray LEGOs in my collection to build a homogenous LEGO ship.
This model was built to float like a ship is supposed to do and also sink. To keep the ship afloat and upright I used coins in the hull to keep it from capsizing and then I filled the hull up with the giant bubble bubble wrap to keep it from sinking, the introductionary clip shows the ship freely floating. To sink it I filled the hull with coins, mostly distributing the weight aft to get it to sink stern first. The coin were kept loose inside the ship, allowing for them to freely move around as seen in the video causeing the ship to capsize.
###DISCLAIMER###
This is not really intended to be a historical recreation of how the real ship sunk, instead this is solely an video of a model sinking for entertainment with little reguards to how the ship actually sank.
###HISTORY###
Way back during the Pacific War, the Yamato was the flagship of the Imperial Japanese Navy. She and her sister ship the Mushashi are the largest battleships to ever be constructed, ~860 feet in length. They were armed with the largest guns ever put on ship, twelve 18.1 inch / 46 cm guns. During the course of the war the Yamato spent most of its time away from any action and with a deterioating war situation, Japan sent the Yamato out on a suicide mission in operation Ten-Go. On April 7th when the ship was on its way to Okinawa it was assualted by several waves of American naval planes and received deadly blows. The ship ultimately capsized then exploded taking 3055 of her 3332 men with her.
'It's humbling to watch': wreckage of Japanese ships from battle of Midway
Marine archaeologists talk about the wreck they believe to be of the Japanese aircraft carrier, Akagi, sunk during the second world war’s battle of Midway. Naval historians with the research vessel Petrel announced they discovered remains of two Japanese carriers and the research is concentrating on identifying all the vessels sunk in June 1942, in the battle that cost the lives of 2,000 Japanese and 300 Americans.

I figure the best way to Musashi is that, like Yuro said, you keep shooting. Stay behind your team and her guns are so powerful that even one random hit can cause so much pain! She is the one that can cut down other battleships as if they are cruisers.
