Yanagawa is a perfect day trip from Fukuoka in Kyushu. We went there in the afternoon, after visiting Dazaifu in the morning. We got the Dazaifu and Yanagawa Sightseeing Ticket from Nishitestu railways, which includes the return trip by train and a punting trip in Yanagawa. There are various other packages too, including some that include a meal at an eel restaurant, which is a local specialty. It's a relaxing and beautiful place to visit!

Boatride on Yanagawa River - Kyushu ᴴᴰ ● 柳川 九州
► Join me on a little boatride, through some of Yanagawas 470km of canals. Yanagawa City is located 70 km south of Fukuoka - the capital city of Kyushu, the most southern of Japans 4 main islands.
The boatride on the donkobune boat was originally 70 minutes, I took a handful of shots along the way, and I ended up with 3 1/2 minutes worth of footage - I hope you'll like it. - Enjoy!

Introduce Yanagawa,Fukuoka,Japan -Trad Japan-
I will introduce Yanagawa.
Yanagawa is a city located in Fukuoka, Japan.
Yanagawa is popular with Japanese tourists because of its 470 km of wide canals. Yanagawa riverboats, called donkobune, are used to take tourists around the city. In 1987 a video documentary was created by Studio Ghibli about these canals and their restoration. The Story of Yanagawa's Canals is widely available and includes English subtitles.
I will introduce the Japanese culture.
Please try to come once
[Japan] Fukuoka - Yanagawa
As i was walking through shopping streets in Fukuoka, I ended up in Canal City Hakata mall where random J pop boysbands were peforming, then I went to Sumiyoshi shrine, Fukuoka castle ruins where you can get a great view of the city and finished my days by a walk (and a cake obviously) in Ohori park.
I took a daytrip to Yanagawa, nicknamed Japan's little Venice because of its many canals found all around town. I had steamed eel for lunch, a local specialty, and it was delicious! :)

It was honestly difficult to vlog for me especially since it was my first time in Fukuoka. I wasn't really able to film properly because I can't help but just enjoy the moment. I was able to capture some footage from the places that I went.

DYA717 Japan Yanagawa, Kyushu June 23, 2017
DYA717 June 23, 2017 Yanagawa
Took several trains and went to Yanagawa, the Venice of Kyushu. Bought a ticket for a boat tour of the waters that made up the river and moats around what used to be an old castle. While chatting with the ticket seller, she told me “Eh bruddah, you came at the wrong time. Nothing much to see this time of year. Best in Feb-Mar and Sep-Oct…..”. That’s OK, I had a nice 50-minute boat ride being entertained by the boatman. He told us about various buildings along the way, about some celebrities from the area and sang us a few songs of the area. Halfway, there was a riverside “service station”. You yell your order and they’ll serve you on the boat so I yelled “BEER!” and quickly got a plastic cup of draft beer and we were on our way again. At the end of the boat ride, they had a complimentary shuttle back to the starting point but I declined and opted to walk back. Had lunch along the way and caught the train back to Kumamoto and arrived approximately 5 p.m.

I visited the Forest Koenmae station Yanagawa hope in the Fukushima Prefecture Date City Yanagawa July 15 2013.
The rotary in front of the station, there was a figure of Mr. K to address the decontamination work all alone.
K's, evacuees from Namie town. I live in Saitama prefecture now.
It is located high radiation dose, home of Namie town, not be able to live back.
This Fukushima Prefecture Date City Yanagawa District has not received or planned evacuation zone, the designation of specific encouragement evacuation point.
The curb of Rotary, during the meeting, that children from school to primary and secondary schools nearby, would sit directly.
Radioactive material and included plenty of the soil that was collected in the joints of the curb.
Want to protect from health damage caused by exposure to children, K's took away the contaminated soil in the polite handwork.
This is not a decontamination business by national and local governments.

JR Hakata Station: Hikari no Machi Hakata (Hakata, City of Lights)
In celebration of JR Hakata City’s eighth year anniversary, an impressive 800,000 lights form a large-scale, winter illumination with this year’s theme: “Way to Hakata”.
The gently sparkling lights around Hakata Station welcome visitors old and new. The lit up, 70 m long path on the second floor deck of JR Hakata City is also a must see.
Don’t forget to check out the Christmas Market taking place at JR Hakata Ekimae Hiroba too, with European-style stalls selling Christmas goods, foods and more (Nov. 13 to Dec. 25).
Brief tour at one Family Mart around Hiroshima.

Yanagawa (柳川市, Yanagawa-shi) is a city located in Fukuoka, Japan.
On March 21, 2005 the towns of Yamato and Mitsuhashi, both from Yamato District, were merged into Yanagawa.
As of 2009, the city has an estimated population of 72,981 and the population density of 949.04 persons per km². The total area is 76.90 km².
Yanagawa is popular with Japanese tourists because of its 470 km of wide canals. Yanagawa riverboats, called donkobune, are used to take tourists around the city. In 1987 a video documentary was created by Studio Ghibli about these canals and their restoration. The Story of Yanagawa's Canals (柳川掘割物語, Yanagawa horiwari monogatari) is widely available and includes English subtitles.
Yanagawa was originally constructed in the mid-16th century by the Kamachi clan. Before then, it had been a traditional farming village, with the canals used for irrigation; Tanaka Yoshimasa ordered the canals to be maintained and built a castle in Yanagawa, which is still maintained today. The modern city was founded on April 1, 1952.
Yanagawa is the birthplace of Kitahara Hakushu, a Meiji era poet and writer of children's songs. An annual three day festival is held every November in Yanagawa complete with poetry readings, fireworks, music, and a great number of evening boat rides. During this festival, most activities begin from Shimohyaku Town and center at the Hiyoshi Shinto Shrine. In addition, Hakushu's birth house is located in Yanagawa and open to the public for tours. The Yanagawa Municipal Folk Museum is mainly dedicated to preservation of Hakushu-sensei's works and memorabilia.
During the months of March and April, Yanagawa also plays host to a number of festivals, most notably Hinamatsuri or Girls' Festival on March 3rd. A great number of finely crafted Heian era styled dolls are placed on display in a number of private homes, shops, and businesses throughout the city. During this time, a number of local citizens actually open up their homes to the public, allowing people to come and see their elaborate decorations and displays.
We live on this beautiful planet, Mother Earth, breathe the same air, and drink the same water. We are all brothers and sisters and members of the human family.
Life is a precious gift to enjoy, celebrate, and appreciate! Life is a choice, and we need to choose to be happy! We make things happen by wishing them! Ask, Believe, then Receive! Golden Rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated! Thank you!
