The hairy crab, also known as the Chinese mitten crab, is a special delicacy usually eaten in the autumn.
And the most prized and expensive of them all come from eastern China’s Yangcheng Lake.
As this year’s harvest season approaches, crab farmers there are getting ready to cash out a whole year’s hard work.

They're one of China's tastiest seafoods and provide a massive boost in local employment.... Yes it can only be October and peak season for fresh hairy crabs from Jiangsu Province's Yangcheng Lake.
These crabs are the real deal - they sell for up to 30-50 times the price the mere ordinary hairy crabs and were written about by 17th century Chinese writer Li Yu.
See how the crabs are prepared from lake to plate and learn how best to cook them (don't forget you've got to catch them first!).
