Yangdong village is situated in Gyeongju city at the south of South Korea. It is the biggest traditional village remaining in Korea. It has a history of over 600 years!!!
Since it has many buildings that are valued as the national treasures, the village is a UNESCO World Heritage site!
I take you around this beautiful (and rather windy) village on a clear sunny winter's day.
At the village, you can enjoy traditional Korean food, tea, snacks, wear Hanbok (Korean dress), take a stroll, sleep overnight at cottages, etc. I highly recommend you to stay overnight to really experience the peacefulness. For more tips, please comment below. I will respond as soon as I can!

It is about a 30-minute taxi ride from Pohang bus terminal as well as Gyeongju City centre. From Gyeongju there are frequent bus services.

In this video I am in Gyeongju for 2 days. I am exploring the temples and the town on the first day and then the following day I am exploring the traditional Folk village called Yangdong. I am youtuber and Vlog my travels as I backpack Asia, I love what I do and want to share these experiences. I use a Gopro Hero 4 to film my travels and use iMovie to edit my videos. Yangdong Village - Gyeongju
Twenty three generations of members of the Yi family have lived in this village since the Joseon dynasty. UNESCO has declared this as a cultural heritage site. It is a well preserved example of the Yangban (Aristocratic) and Neo-Confusion lifestyle as well as the traditional Joseon architecture.

It is the first stop for those looking for something to do in Korea near Pohang and is an excellent way to learn about Korean history. This village has remained intact and virtually unchanged since it was built half a millennia ago. Today the same descendants of the villagers from five centuries ago continue living in the same homes. Some even continue to practice the same professions.
