TAIWAN VLOG | Day 3: Yangmingshan and Tamsui Lover's Bridge & Old Street
DAY 3 BLOGPOST:
On our 3rd day in Taiwan, we went to Yangmingshan National Park. To get there, take MRT to Jiantan Exit 1. Walk to the Bus stop located on the left side after you exit. You can ride Bus R5 or S15 to Yangminshan. In our case, we took R5 for 7NTD.
At Yangmingshan there is an Information Center (I think? lol), that's where we got our 1-day unlimited bus ticket for 60 NTD.
It was not the perfect weather when we went to Yangmingshan because it freakin' cold that time. It's about 6C degrees and little did we know, it snowed that night. Plus, it was raining sooo hard and it's super windy that I couldn't feel my face, hands, and legs. #thestruggleisreal lol
After Yangmingshan, we went back to Shilin to eat some pasta then head straight to Tamsui.
To get to Tamsui Lover's Bridge. Take MRT Tamsui, after you exit walk
towards the Bus Stop and take 紅26 (Red 26), 836, or 857 to Fisherman's Wharf. We took 紅26. After Lover's Bridge, we went to Tamsui Old Street, you can also take the same bus to get back to Tamsui Old Street.

Yangmingshan National Park - Where To Go Hiking in Taipei
One of the best day trips from Taipei (or even a fun afternoon activity) is to go hiking in Yangmingshan National Park, one of 7 national parks in Taiwan. An addition to my Taipei Travel Guide series - this is also video number 5 in my 30-day video challenge.
If you're wondering how to get to Yangmingshan National Park, I give the full details on buses in my itinerary post:
Directions: Take Taipei metro to Jiantan Station and then catch the bus outside on the main road. Buses R5 or R15 both go to the park, leaving about every 15 or 20 minutes.

Xiaoyoukeng (for post volcanic scenary and the steam coming from the ground )
Bayan Hot Springs ( for the natural hot springs )
The most convenient way to get there is by car or scooter (provided your scooter is up to a mountain excursion), but public transportation is also an option. Take a bus (No.1717) from Taipei Main Station, just outside the M8 Exit, directly across from McDonald’s. The bus takes you to the Bayan Hot Springs Resort. Once you’re on the main road outside the Bayan Hot Springs Resort, take the road towards the resort, and before you enter you’ll see the trail head, with a small area where you can park a car, and a (non-working) outhouse. From there, go down the trail and start walking alongside the river, heading upstream. At one point you’ll have to navigate a small stream, and you will have to remove your shoes to cross. (Best if you just wear Tevas, or something similar). Apparently there was once a small footbridge, but it has been washed away. After you’ve crossed the stream, follow the trail uphill. You’ll see a warning sign threatening trespassers with a NT$15,000 fine, but according to the locals, that’s there to protect the park from lawsuits in case of injury. Continue past the sign and you’re there!

Yangmingshan (陽明山) National Park as we know it today covers mountainous areas in the Taipei City districts of Shilin and Beitou, and in the New Taipei City districts of Tamsui, Sanzhi, Shimen, Jinshan and Wanli. The park's eastern boundary lies east of Mt. Huangtsui and Mt. Wuchih, and it extends westward as far as the western foothills of Mt. Hunglu and Mt. Miantian. To the north it includes Mt. Zhuzi and Tudigong Ridge, while its southern boundary stretches from the southern foothills of Mt. Shamao eastward to Pingdeng Village and Shuangxi. It covers a total area of 11,338 hectares with elevations of between 200 and 1120 meters above sea level.
Looking north from Taipei City, the range of mountains you can see in the distance fringing the Taipei basin from left to right, Mt. Xiangtian, Mt. Miantian, Mt. Datun, Mt. Xiaoguanyin and Mt. Qixing are the heart of Yangmingshan National Park. The park is famous for its unique volcanic geology and topographical sights, with signs of volcanic activity like fumaroles and hot springs everywhere. It's easy to reach from Taipei, just one hour by bus. Due to its accessibility for the people of northern Taiwan, on weekends and holidays the park attracts countless hikers and other visitors who come to enjoy the scenery.

波蘭美女最愛的陽明山: Yangmingshan National Park Epic Hike, Taiwan (Mt Xiaoguanyin)
My first real hike (and hitchhike) in Taipei.. Incredible views, endless laughter and memories hard to forget.
The hike took place in the Yangmingshan National Park, located under an hour from Taipei city centre. We went to the top of Xiaoguanyin / Mount Guanyin.
