4 Night Yangtze River Cruise 2017 In China Part 1
May 2017 Yangtze River Cruise from Yichang to Chongqing
We are on the Victoria Anna which is the Yangtze's largest and most luxurious ship at the time it was built in 2006.
This film begins at Maoping. This town is located on the right (southern) bank of the Yangtze, just upstream of the Three Gorges Dam, and offers a good view of (the upstream side of) the dam, as well as of an accessory dam, which blocks off a valley on the southern side of the river from being flooded by the reservoir.
3 Day Yangtze River Cruise In 6 Minutes-Chongqing to Yichang
Come along on a three day Yangtze River cruise from Chongqing to Yichang, China. The Yangtze River, or Chang Jiang, is the longest river in Asia, and the third longest in the world after the Nile in Africa and the Amazon in South America. It flows for 3,988 miles (6,418 kilometers) from the glaciers on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in Qinghai eastward before emptying into the East China Sea at Shanghai.
In recent years, the river has suffered from industrial pollution, agricultural run-off, siltation, and loss of wetland and lakes, which exacerbates seasonal flooding. Some sections of the river are now protected as nature reserves.

Yangtze River Cruise, Wu Gorge - China Travel Channel
The Wu Gorge - 巫峽 - is the second of the Three Gorges on our Yangtze River Cruise between Badong and Wushan.
Returning from our Shennong Stream excursion to the Yangtze, we were again in awe of the natural beauty, yet also witnessed the difficulties of the local population in barely managing to survive. In the 3 Gorges Dam area, there are traditionally only three ways to make a living: either agriculture, fishing or coal mining.
Coal shafts are often located on high mountain cliffs and you can see the slag-heaps everywhere on the slopes. It is certainly very difficult to mine coal by hand under these conditions. Farming is not much better here either. Often fields are located up to 1000 m high on the slopes. In the dry season, water must be brought up from the river by foot.
Fishing also suffers from the changes brought about by the dam construction. As a result, the government greatly tries to create replacement jobs for locals in large surrounding cities such as Chongqing. Tourism, above all Chinese tourism, plays a vital role here.
The steep cliffs are continually interspersed with huge caves such as the Wind Bags Cave, where people believe the wind originates. Old coffins within this cave were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. Or we see the Seven Caves, containing the inscriptions of 700 soldiers which will soon sink forever into the water.

Yangtze River Cruise In 6 Minutes-Chongqing to Yichang
The English name Yangtze derives from the Chinese name Yángzǐ Jiāng which refers to the lowest 435 km (270 mi) of the river between Nanjing and Shanghai. The whole river is known in China as Cháng Jiāng literally: Long River).
The Yangtze plays a large role in the history, culture and economy of China. The prosperous Yangtze River Delta generates as much as 20% of the PRC's GDP. The Yangtze River flows through a wide array of ecosystems and is habitat to several endemic and endangered species including the Chinese alligator, the narrow-ridged finless porpoise, the Chinese paddlefish, the (possibly extinct) Yangtze River dolphin or baiji, and the Yangtze sturgeon. For thousands of years, the river has been used for water, irrigation, sanitation, transportation, industry, boundary-marking and war. The Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River is the largest hydro-electric power station in the world.
In recent years, the river has suffered from industrial pollution, plastic pollution, agricultural run-off, siltation, and loss of wetland and lakes, which exacerbates seasonal flooding. Some sections of the river are now protected as nature reserves. A stretch of the upstream Yangtze flowing through deep gorges in western Yunnan is part of the Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In mid-2014, the Chinese government announced it was building a multi-tier transport network, comprising railways, roads and airports, to create a new economic belt alongside the river.

3 Days Yangtze River Cruise 2019 - Frequently Asked Questions about Yangtze cruise ship prices...
To check the price and make a reservation please visit
How long is the normal cruise journey?
The downstream cruise sailing from Chongqing is 3 nights/4 days; the upstream cruise from Yichang is 4 nights/5 days.
Are there any differences for the 3 nights/4 nights downstream/upstream cruise itineraries?
For the shore excursions, the downstream and upstream itineraries are almost the same, but with one night difference mainly because the downstream cruises sail with the current and are a bit faster. Are shore excursions and meals included in the cruise ticket?
Yes. Shore excursions listed in the itinerary (except optional ones) and all the meals on board the ship (except the dinner on your cruise check in date) are all included in the cruise ticket.
If I travel alone, how could I book a Yangtze River cruise?
For passengers who travel alone, you can choose to share one standard twin cabin with another single traveler (with the same gender); or you can pay the single occupancy supplement (usually 75%) to guarantee your single occupancy.
Is there any cabin on the cruise that could hold 3 of us?
For the Yangtze River cruise cabin, it is usually the standard twin cabin which holds only 2 persons, but one extra bed could be added in the cabin on some cruise ships.
Can we choose our room when we book the cruise?
The cabin room is allocated randomly when the guests board the cruise. However, you may request a specific deck when you book a cruise. An additional fee for every deck upgrade is RMB150 to RMB300 per person. Is smoking allowed on the cruise?
The cruise cabins are non-smoking, but there is smoking room on the cruise.
How far is it from the airport to the cruise harbour? Could you help us arrange the airport transfers? In both Chongqing and Yichang, it would take about one hour's drive from the airport to the cruise harbour. yangtze.com can help you arrange the airport transfers in both Yichang and Chongqing with modest prices. Also you can take a taxi, we will provide you with a customized cruise boarding instruction which includes directions.
Is there any English speaking guide on the cruise? Yes, the cruise has English speaking staff onboard.
What meals are offered? For the meals, buffet is offered for breakfast and lunch, and depending on the cruise, dinner is either table service or buffet.
Do the cruises have elevators?
Elevators come standard on the newer ships such as Yangtze Gold cruise ships, President Cruise ships, Victoria premier ships and Century cruises. If you have mobility difficulties, we recommend booking a cabin on the lower deck or a cruise with an elevator.
What sort of clothes should I bring?
Casual attire is recommended both on board and on shore excursions. Be sure to have a pair of comfortable walking shoes and outdoor jacket for excursions. For the Captain's Welcome Reception and Farewell Banquet, you can choose to wear formal attire.

Yangtze River Night Cruise, Chongqing

Yangtze River Cruise, Qutang Gorge - China Travel Channel
Qutang Gorge on the Yangtze River, China ranges from Wushan to Fengje. Thirty-six bridges span the Jangtse; most of these bridges were newly built as part of the relocation measures in order to strengthen the infrastructure. Wushan is the starting point to the Three Little Gorges. This city was completely rebuilt at a higher elevation. At the entrance of the 8 km long gorge Qutang, the ruins of the Daxi culture were discovered and the remains of a four -to six- thousand year old village from the Neolithic period have been excavated here.
The Qutang Gorge is the shortest but also the most beautiful of the three gorges. The rock cliffs here are extremely steep. Directly in the Kuimen Gateway we find the most famous calligraphy carved in stone in all of China. The originals have been completely released from the rock and to be exhibited in a museum. The calligraphy which can be viewed from the river are only copies. The Kuimen is the highest mountain in the region and overlooks the extremely narrow passage between Hubei and the province of Sichuan, and more recently Chongqing, which was separated from Sichuan. Correspondingly, this section of the gorge is called the Kuimen Gateway. This eye of the needle through which the Yangtze flows is pictured on Chinese currency.
Baidicheng -- the city of the White Emperor – will form a small island in the future once the river has reached its final elevation.
