Yangzhou, called Guangling, Jiangdu, and Weiyang in old days, is a prefecture-level city located at the intersection of central Jiangsu, Yangtze River, and Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and is renowned as “the first canal city in China”.
You can encounter Yangzhou in the Slender West Lake, boating on the river and enjoying the beauty of nature.
Taking a bite of Huaiyang cuisine (such as Yangzhou fried rice and meatballs) and listening to Yangzhou Tanci will be entertaining and relaxing.
The rich cultural heritage in Yangzhou influences natives from generation to generation. Marco Polo Memorial, China Block Printing Museum and Yangzhou Museum, and Art Museum will make you don’t want to tear yourself away.
Walking on Shuangdong historical and cultural block, you will feel like you are on the street in the old town in Ming and Qing dynasties.

Just an hour train ride away from the heart of Nanjing is Yangzhou- a quaint little city full of life. Yangzhou is like many cities wrapped in one.
For the adventurers, there is Slender West Lake- a mini version of the infamous West Lake in Hangzhou. For the history fanatics, there are classical gardens similar to those in Suzhou, and historical homes-turned museums where government officials used to reside. For the shoppers, there is Dongguan, a hugely lit pavilion lined with streets of bustling little shops; not to mention delicious little snacks sold along the road. And for the party goers, there is a 1895 clubbing district very similar to the 1912 district in Nanjing or the Taipei 101 district in Taiwan.

Yangzhou scenery
Yangzhou is not only a scenic city with beautiful scenery, but also a cultural city with a rich cultural heritage and a historic museum city with a long history. There are the oldest canals in China, the tombs of Emperor Hansong, the ancient city ruins of Tang and Song Dynasties, the private gardens of Ming and Qing Dynasties, numerous human landscapes, beautiful natural scenery, rich tourism resources, and many years of attracting a large number of Chinese and foreign tourists.
In 1998, Yangzhou was awarded the title of the first batch of China's outstanding tourist cities. China's most famous lake garden, Slender West Lake and Millennium Temple, Daming Temple are China's 4A-level scenic spots (points); Heyuan, Geyuan, Tangcheng Ruins, Gaoyou Yucheng Temple, Puhading Tomb, Longzhuang Ancient Human Site are The national key cultural relics protection unit; the famous Slim West Lake Qianlong water tour line is a national-level tourist line launched by the National Tourism Administration at home and abroad; Yangzhou's Muslim tourism products are increasingly becoming an important part of the Muslim tourism line in China.
