Three Chinese anti-piracy warships arrive in the UK
Three Chinese warships have arrived in Portsmouth on Britain’s south coast, the home of the UK’s Royal Navy, for an official exchange of intelligence on piracy off the Horn of Africa. The task force is part of a huge anti-piracy operation maintained by China, which has provided safe transit for around 6,000 ships in the last six years. Richard Bestic reports from Portsmouth.

Chinese Navy Fleet Pays First Official Visit to London
China's 26th naval escort fleet arrived in London on Tuesday for a five-day friendly visit to Britain.
This is the first time for Chinese naval ships to pay an official visit to the British capital city.
The fleet, which is composed of the guided-missile frigates Huanggang and Yangzhou, and the comprehensive supply ship Gaoyouhu, is calling at the Canary Wharf in west London from Tuesday to Saturday, the third stop of its global voyage after completing its escort mission in August in the Gulf of Aden and Somali waters.
Nearly 400 people, including the Chinese Ambassador to Britain, representatives of British Royal Navy and overseas Chinese attended the grand welcoming ceremony for the arrival of the fleet held by the Chinese embassy.
As the fleet's visit coincides with the Chinese National Day holiday and also the Mid-Autumn Festival, large numbers of local Chinese and residents boarded the ships to visit with tremendous enthusiasm. The Chinese community in London expressed their patriotism as China becomes increasingly stronger.
I was very excited as we welcomed the Chinese navy fleet on River Thames today. In 1877, it was just across the river at the Old Royal Navy College where the first batch of Chinese students who came to Britain studied the technology of driving naval vessels. After over 100 years, we feel extremely excited and proud to welcome such a magnificent fleet during the National Day holiday and also the Mid-Autumn Festival, said Liu Kai, a Chinese living in the UK.
They were four in the Beiyang Fleet from 1880 to 1888 which were built in Newcastle in the photos. We brought the photos here because firstly, we are grateful and moved as over 100 years later, Chinese Navy can drive their own fleet to come overseas and enjoy such a reputation in the United kingdom. We also hope our navy can keep in mind General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Xi Jinping’s words on purpose of the founding of Chinese Army and keep on forging ahead with history in mind to bolster up Chinese national rejuvenation, prosperity and strength, said a representative for Chinese entrepreneurs in Newcastle.
The Chinese fleet also drew attention from local residents and major media outlets in London. Daily Mail has made detailed report on the official visit of the Chinese fleet.
I think it's very exciting to get two Chinese warships in the center of London. It's well organized. It’s magnificent that you're here, a superpower in the center of London, magnificent. From where you were, to where you are now, a top country in the world. Nice people, sophisticated. I love them, I love the Chinese. I’m glad they are here. I think England and China get on very well, said Smith, a local resident.
Before arriving in London, the fleet concluded a five-day friendly visit to Denmark.

It's a ship that brings aid and medical care and that is very important and should be emphasized that it is a major initiative of the Chinese government.
While in Guayaquil, the staff members will hold official events in the Park of the Navy and the Naval Operations Command, and visit the facilities of the Oceanographic Institute of the Navy (INOCAR).
The boat was designed and built independently by China and arrived in Ecuador to mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
