Ferry to Fort Jefferson - Dry Tortugas National Park - Key West, Florida
By far the most amazing adventure we did in Key West was taking the Dry Tortugas National Park Ferry, the Yankee Freedom III, to Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas National Park. After a somewhat rocky 2 1/2 hour boat ride we were able to explore the third largest fort in the USA, the kids got their junior ranger badges, and we snorkeled as a family for the very first time. We were blown away with how awesome the ferry service was. From start to finish, the staff was exceptional. Not only did they feed us two meals, but they provided everything we needed (and took exceptional care of those that were motion sick). We would highly recommend this adventure for other families looking to get to a more remote location! If we get the chance to go again we would definitely choose to pay the small fee to camp for several nights on the island.

Hi Everyone! Happy Tuesday! In today’s video, I am sharing my recent trip to the beautiful Dry Tortugas National Park. It is tagged as one of the world’s most unique eco-attractions. By far, my favorite National Park in the US. If you are a history buff and love communing with nature, this place is a must to visit.
According to nps.gov, it was built between 1846 and 1875 to protect the nation's gateway to the Gulf of Mexico.

Dry Tortugas and Fort Jefferson
A trip to Florida in the middle of summer sounds crazy, but if you don't mind some heat and humidity, it's relatively free of tourists, especially pesky around Key West. We took a day trip out to the Dry Tortugas to snorkel and heck, just to see it - a great experience, highly recommended if you find yourself in the Keys. No nanny-state guardrails to keep you from falling off, either.
