The Amazing Road and Bridge in Xiamen China_Trip to China - Xiamen. Xiamen (厦门; Xiàmén) is a coastal city in Fujian Province in China. It has been an important port for centuries and became one of China's earliest Special Economic Zones in the 1980s. The name Xiamen means door to the house, referring to the city's centuries-old role as a gateway to China.
It is not Taipei or Hong Kong, but compared to most other cities in the region, Xiamen is definitely a very vibrant, affluent and modern place. It got an international award in a contest for most livable cities in 2002; neighboring Quanzhou won the following year.
The most important tourist area is Gulangyu Island, a small island which contains some beautiful colonial buildings and is car free.

E-Mall is a high end shopping complex located in between the 64-floor, sail-like Twin Towers, is also known as Xiamen Shimao Cross-strait Plaza Towers.
The mall lies west of Nanputuo Temple and Xiamen University, north of Yanwu Bridge, east of Gulangyu Island and south of Xiamen Botanical Garden.

Weekend in Xiamen : Jimei Jiageng Park
Jimei Jiageng Park is located in the southeast coast of Xiamen City. It was built in memory of Sir Chen Jiageng, namely the founder of Xiamen University, a patriotic overseas Chinese who made great contributions to the development of Xiamen. He was born on Oct. 21st, 1874 in Jimei Town, Xiamen City, Fujian Province. Following his father, he went to Singapore to get engaged in trade when he was 17 years old. Later, he became a well-known businessman both at home and abroad due to his own hard work and talent in doing business. Although he lived abroad for long, he never forgot his homeland: China. He raised a great amount of funds and established Jimei School, Xiamen University, and Jimei Ao Garden in Xiamen successively. Through out his entire life, he never stopped uniting the overseas Chinese and helping to develop the nation until he died.
The park was finished in 1994 in accordance with Sir Chen Jiageng’s last wish. It takes up an area of 30,000 sq meters. Its architectural layout was designed according to the Chinese ancient garden-style residence. It has five pavilions, a hall, and a massive sculpture which reveals the contributions made by Sir Chen Jiageng. Besides, it has decorative corridors, bridges, greenbelts, and rivers, etc.

Walking Xiamen's Coastal Boardwalks
From Shoushan Road to Baishi Fortress / 白石炮台遗址 is about ten km (six miles) of boardwalk along the beach; it runs parallel to the Huandao Lu ring road. Plans call for the boardwalk to eventually extend all the way to the Conference Center, roughly doubling its current length. Along it are bicycle rental places, many food stalls and restaurants, and various other attractions like Music Square / 音乐广场 - a park-like area along the boardwalk with sculptures of/about many famous composers and musicians, both Western and Chinese.
These videos/pictures are from the Yanwu Bridge / 演武大桥 and Hulishan Fortress / 胡里山炮台 area near Xiamen University to past the Baishi Fortress (which I never actually saw - albeit I saw signs saying it was along the route. It might be covered in undergrowth).

中國網新聞9月1日訊俄羅斯學者總結推動金磚國家經濟增長的因素，評價中國提出“金磚+”模式，體現出大國地位，這為經濟發展提供新能量。
金磚國家領導人第九次會晤將於9月3日至5日在中國廈門舉行，除金磚國家外，幾內亞、埃及、墨西哥、泰國和塔吉克斯坦等五個國家也受邀參加。
據俄羅斯日報報道，俄羅斯科學院遠東研究所高級研究員亞歷山大·拉林認為，中國如今已經成為一個世界強國，這五個分別來自非洲、拉丁美洲、東南亞和中亞國家的參與恰恰證明瞭這一點。金磚合作機製下，中俄關係更加親密，促使兩國在許多重大國際問題上觀點一致。
俄羅斯國際事務委員會專家雅羅斯拉夫·裡索沃裡克在接受俄新社采訪時稱，現在，不僅金磚成員國之間實行經濟一體化和加強協作，其他國際夥伴也將加入，這將為經濟發展帶來巨大的潛力。在這樣的背景下，擴大金磚國家夥伴范圍的“金磚+”對話合作模式將成為促進經濟發展的一項重要因素。
裡索沃裡克還認為，當前金磚成員國已經形成瞭不同的宏觀經濟條件。巨大的收入差距不僅存在於各金磚成員國之間，也存在於各國內部的地區之間，要想增大經濟發展的潛能，首要任務就是緩解國內收入不平衡的狀況。
在裡索沃裡克看來，能夠推動金磚國家經濟增長的因素主要有三個，除瞭上面提到的增加與其他國家的合作和縮小收入差距，第三個因素是加強國家內部的地區間合作。金磚各國內部都有各自的區域經濟一體化項目，這些項目潛能如果充分發揮出來，將大大增速經濟發展。（向文丹）
