Yaquina Bay Bridge closed by semi in high wind - Newport Police Dept.
On January 18, 2012, an empty semi-truck attempted to drive across Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport, Oregon during wind gusts of up to 110 mph. Caught by a gust of 97 mph, the truck was forced into the oncoming lane, striking a small pickup truck and pinning it against the side of the bridge. The truck continues to be pummeled with high wind, nearly tipping over several times.

Newport is a city in Lincoln County, Oregon, United States. It was incorporated in 1882, though the name dates back to the establishment of a post office in 1868. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 9,989, an increase of nearly 5% over its 2000 population; as of 2013, it had an estimated population of 10,117.[5]
Newport is the county seat of Lincoln County.[6] It is also the home of the Oregon Coast Aquarium, Hatfield Marine Science Center, Nye Beach, Yaquina Head Lighthouse, and Rogue Ales. In October 1962, wind gusts at Newport reached 138 miles per hour (222 km/h) before the wind gauge stopped working. This occurred during the Columbus Day Windstorm, which the National Weather Service has named one of Oregon's top 10 weather events of the 20th century.

This is another video taken during our crabbing trip. This shows the Yaquina Bay area including some of the commercial fishing boats. This is the largest fishing town on the coast Tuna is shipped from Newport to Japan so perhaps that canned tuna you bought came from Newport but I assure you it doesn't taste anything like freshly canned tuna.

For larger guest groups, there is a queen-size Aerobed 24 air mattress with a quick inflate pump.
In the main living area, there is a huge stacked stone gas fireplace framed by large rustic wood beams, a large flatscreen HDTV, plush overstuffed seating for six, (some with recliners, and leather ottomans for these seats without).
Also in this room is an elegant rustic/contemporary dining area with a reclaimed wood dining table and pub-height pub bench that seats six, with an adjacent bar area that seats four.
In the waterfront lounge, take in the incredible views of the Yaquina Bay Bridge, the Newport Harbor, Yaquina Bay and the ocean. At night, you can convert the lounge into your own movie theater with a 100 screen and Hi-Rez projector for movie nights or gaming on your system.
There is a large deck with a gas grill, a brand-new five-person spa, comfy Adirondack chairs with leg rests, and water views. The deck has a glass windscreen for your comfort.
Each living area has separate climate controls to further enhance your experience.
The large, light and bright two-car garage has a competition-size ping-pong table, inflatable raft and paddles, fishing poles, crab trap and clam gun for your use, along with an outdoor steamer to steam your catch of Dungeness crab or clams.
