Yarmouth Castle, Isle of Wight with some EVP's
A walk around another one of Henry V111's forts. Unfortunately, I was competing with noisy children, ferry noises (as the port is right next door) wasps and 30.C (86F) heat. I tried my best!
The EVP's were clear voices and I have tried to hear what's being said. If I've missed anything, do let me know in the comments box please. Another place I'll have to go again but in the early spring or winter.

Great Yarmouth - British Seaside VIDEO TOUR (Norfolk, UK)
So it was our first time visiting Great Yarmouth, finally! We had never made it past Cromer on the Norfolk hump! It reminds me of Blackpool, but with less fights and less drunken people, just! Hundreds of arcades!!! We almost didn't make them all! lol! We started in the town as that is where we found the free parking! It was a nice walk to the seafront from there.
----------------
Great Yarmouth, often known as Yarmouth, is a seaside town in Norfolk, England, straddling the mouth of the River Yare, some 20 miles (30 km) east of Norwich. A population of 38,693 in the 2011 Census made it the third most populous place in Norfolk. It has been a seaside resort since 1760 and provides a gateway from the Norfolk Broads to the North Sea. Its longstanding fishing industry, mainly for herring, declined steeply after the mid-20th century and has all but vanished. North Sea oil from the 1960s led to a brisk oil-rig supply industry that now services offshore natural gas rigs. More recent offshore wind power and other renewable energy create further support services. As a tourist centre, Yarmouth became prominent when a railway built in 1844 gave visitors easier, cheaper access and triggered an influx of settlers. Wellington Pier opened in 1854 and Britannia Pier in 1858. Through the 20th century Yarmouth was a booming resort, with a promenade, fortune-tellers, pubs, trams, donkey rides, fish-and-chip shops and theatres. Other attractions include the Pleasure Beach, the Sea Life Centre, the Hippodrome Circus and the Time and Tide Museum, and the one surviving Victorian seaside Winter Garden in cast iron and glass.

A Sunny Afternoon In Yarmouth - Isle Of Wight - June 2018 | kittikoko
Yarmouth is a town, port and civil parish in the west of the Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England. The town is named for its location at the mouth of the small Western Yar river. The town grew near the river crossing, originally a ferry, which was replaced with a road bridge in 1863.
Yarmouth has been a settlement for over a thousand years, and is one of the earliest on the island. The first account of the settlement is in Ethelred the Unready's record of the Danegeld tax of 991, when it was called Eremue, meaning muddy estuary. The Normans laid out the streets on a grid system, a plan which can still be seen today. It grew rapidly, being given its first charter as a town in 1135. The town became a parliamentary borough in the Middle Ages, and the Yarmouth constituency was represented by two members of Parliament until 1832.
Until the castle was built, raids by the French hurt the town; in 1544 the it was reputed to have been burned down. Legend has it that the church bells were carried off to Cherbourg or Boulogne.
Yarmouth Castle was built in 1547, and is now in the care of English Heritage. It is effectively a gun platform, built by Henry VIII to fortify the Solent and protect against any attempted invasion of England.
In St. James's Church there is a monument to the 17th century admiral Sir Robert Holmes who was at Yarmouth. He obtained it in a raid on a French ship, when he seized an unfinished statue of Louis XIV of France and forced the sculptor to finish it with his own head rather than the king's.
In 1784 most of Yarmouth's ancient charters were lost: A ship's captain, drunk after a court dinner, stole what he thought was a case of wine, as he returned to his ship. When he discovered it was a case of books, he threw it overboard.
Yarmouth Pier was opened in 1876. It received Grade 2 listed status in 1975. Originally 685 ft (207.5m) long, it's now 609 ft (186m) but is still the longest timber pier in England open to the public, and also a docking point for the MV Balmoral and PS Waverley.
Several Sites of Special Scientific Interest lie close to Yarmouth, including Yar Estuary SSSI & Bouldnor And Hamstead Cliffs SSSI.

10 Disgraceful Captains That Abandoned Ship!
From a captain responsible for taking the lives of 32 people just because he was trying to impress a female, to a ruthless newlywed trying to take the life of his bride, here are 10 Disgraceful Captains That Abandoned Ship!
SUBSCRIBE for the latest videos:
Don't forget to CHECK OUT our latest upload:
10. The Birkenhead Drill
The HMS Birkenhead sank off the coast of South Africa in July 1852, killing hundreds of British soldiers after colliding with an underwater obstruction. With valor, the men aboard saw to it that all women and children were the first to be placed into the three lifeboats available. Even though all the men perished, it was here that the maritime philosophy of “women and children first” was born.
9. Captain Coward
Nicknamed “Captain Coward” by international media, Francesco Schettino argued that he was nothing more than a “solitary scapegoat” for a cruise ship disaster that took the lives of 32 people in 2012. A number of eyewitness accounts claim that Schettino had been showing off to a female coworker moments before he crashed the Costa Concordia into rocks off of the Tuscany coast.
8. Captain “They Can Stay”
These callous words were uttered by Yiannis Avranas in the event of his ship sinking: “When I order abandon ship, it doesn’t matter what time I leave. Abandon is for everybody. If some people like to stay, they can stay,” said the captain of the Greek luxury liner Oceanos, which sank off the coast of South Africa in 1991. Avranas was charged with misconduct after it was discovered that he and numerous crew members left the ship while the passengers remained behind.
7. Yangtze River
In what headlines claimed to be one of China’s most horrendous disasters at sea, only 14 people survived of the 456 passengers aboard the Eastern Oriental Star. The rescue mission for the capsized ship on the Yangtze River soon became a search and recovery effort for those who had been killed. Sadly, the majority of the passengers consisted of the elderly who belonged to a travel tour group, in addition to families with small children.
6. Stranded in the Water
In 1965, the Bahama Star was sailing twelve miles behind the SS Yarmouth Castle when Captain Brown noticed smoke and fire emerging from the distant vessel. Brown ordered full steam ahead, in an effort to rescue those stranded aboard the Yarmouth, only to find the ship’s cowardly captain, Byron Voutsinas, floating safely in a lifeboat. As a large number of helpless, abandoned passengers were left to jump overboard.
5. “Did You Want Me to Drown?”
What was supposed to be a routine trip from Norway to Denmark in 1990, became one of Europe’s worst ferry disasters after an arsonist set ablaze the Scandinavian Star late one evening. As the fire raged out of control, the majority of passengers were sound asleep in their cabins unaware of the devastation at play. Those fortunate enough to escape the smoke of their rooms were left perplexed and powerless, pondering how to acquire life vests, let alone, survive the sinking firestorm.
4. A Doomed Field Trip
68-year-old Lee Joon-seok, the captain of a South Korean ferry that capsized, stood trial for the negligence which claimed the lives of nearly 300 school children. Several other crew members were given sentences ranging from five to twenty years, while the ship’s chief engineer was sentenced to 30 years after being convicted. Despite prosecutors fighting hard for the death penalty, Joon-seok was only sentenced to 36 years in prison.
3. Oh Captain, My Captain
After transporting the atomic bomb that would level Hiroshima, the USS Indianapolis was hit by a Japanese torpedo on June 30, 1945. Within 12 minutes, the vessel sank leaving nearly 900 soldiers floating in the flaming oil slick of the shark-infested waters. Rescue arrived four days later, at which point only 316 men were found alive.
2. July 1814
The French warship Medusa was bound for Senegal with 400 people aboard when the ship suddenly crashed into a reef just off of the African coast. Soon after, the captain, along with politicians and officers, boarded the only five lifeboats aboard, leaving the remainder of the passengers no choice but to herd onto a makeshift raft. Unfortunately, the rope attaching the raft to a lifeboat was intentionally cut by an officer in an extreme act of cowardice.
1.Trouble at Sea
In 1961, Arthur Duperrault chartered a yacht in the Bahamas for a week-long getaway with his wife and three young children. The yacht’s captain, Julian Harvey, chose to bring his new wife along for the journey as well. Unbeknownst to Duperrault, Harvey had taken out an insurance policy on his bride. However, his plans unraveled after she put up a fight which attracted the attention of the Duperrault family.
