Yarra Ranges Regional Museum | dotheyarravalley.com.au
The Yarra Ranges Regional Museum opened in 2011 and is one of the hidden gems of the Yarra Valley. Featuring a permanent collection of historic photographs, letters & objects, as well as a contemporary gallery, gift shop and cafe, the museum is a 'must do' attraction.
In this video, Tania from dotheyarravalley.com.au talks to Maggi Solly the museum director about the range of exhibitions and activities on offer.
Online Practical Training - Developing Diverse Audiences - Yarra Ranges Regional Museum
Developing Diverse Audiences - Ride Exhibition
Maggi Solly & Megan Sheehy, Yarra Ranges Regional Museum
Maggi & Megan explain how their audience demographics are unbalanced when it comes to gender, and how they looked to local stories and local activity within their region to develop an exhibition that targeted many of the motorcyclists who tour the Yarra Ranges each weekend.
The Developing Diverse Audiences seminar addressed methods to make museums accessible and inclusive, considering new audiences, audiences with disabilities and audiences from diverse backgrounds.
Presented in partnership with the Public Galleries Association of Victoria and NETS Victoria.
Thank you to the City of Melbourne and the National Gallery of Victoria for their generous support of this project.
See our YouTube channel for further presentations from this event, past seminars and practical online training for museums & galleries.

Cycling Gippsland Plains Rail Trail 2017
Cycling Gippsland Plains Rail Trail 2017 is a 5-min 720p hi-def video showing Andrew and I cycling along the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail from Traralgon to Stratford in April 2017. Note that the Rail Trail starts north of Traralgon East, about 5km from Traralgon. We used our free Seniors Rail Pass to travel to Traralgon and later back from Stratford. There are plenty of places along the Rail Trail to stop for a coffee or to have lunch. You are advised however that some cafes are not open on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. As I was filming the ride to make this video, we took 2 days to cycle the 65 km Rail Trail and we stayed one night at Heyfield in lovely motel units at Broadbent's Motor Inn.

DERMPAV to Echuca via Toolamba: Australian Trains
Over the weekend of 10 and 11 May 2015, the Association of Railway Enthusiasts chartered DERMPAV's 58RM to operate a weekend tour to Deniliquin. The down trip ran via Toolamba to Echuca and this part of the journey along the North East, Goulburn Valley lines and then the cross country line from Toolamba is the focus of this video.
The video commences with the DERM climbing the 1 in 50 grade to Heathcote Junction, followed by a shot near Mangalore, then between Nagambie and Murchison East. The trip along the Toolamba to Echuca line is captured at Tatura, Merrigum, Kyabram, Tongala and Koyuga. The final part of the video sees 58RM crossing the Murray River floodplain at Moama while departing Echuca on the final leg of the journey to Deniliquin.
This historic vehicle was built in 1930 at the VR's Newport Workshops and is based on the St Louis car company design with power equipment from Electro Motive. In the 1950's the Winton petrol engine was replaced with two Detroit Diesel 6-71 engines. 58RM is currently the only one of its type in the world that operates on the main line.

La Trobe University
La Trobe University is an Australian public university whose flagship campus, the largest metropolitan campus in the country, is located in Melbourne, Victoria. The university was established in 1964 following the assent of the La Trobe University Act by Victorian Parliament on 9 December of that year, becoming the third university in the State. While it does not share the architectural aesthetics of its sandstone peers, at its core La Trobe, as much as Monash, was 'among the last of the old universities in Australia.' Of the many aspirations set upon La Trobe by its distinguished founders, one of its most prominent achievements, and a great source of university pride, has been its long-standing commitment to providing access to higher education to those traditionally excluded from the sector. In 2015 it was ranked in the top 100 universities under 50 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
La Trobe's flagship campus is located in the Melbourne suburb of Bundoora with two other major campuses located in the regional Victorian city of Bendigo and in the twin border cities of Albury-Wodonga. The university has two smaller regional campuses in Mildura and Shepparton, and three minor CBD campuses: two in Melbourne on Franklin Street and Collins Street, and one on York Street in Sydney.
