Yarrangobilly Caves are in southern NSW.in the snowy mountains. They are off the main road along a 6 kilometer track. These are probably the third best caves in NSW.There is also a spar pond here,warning after getting out of pond the air is freezing and it is a fair hike back to the top where vehicles are left

Yarrangobilly Caves in Kosciuszko National Park is is a spectacular limestone cave located 6.5km off the Snowy Mountains Highway, 77km from Tumut and 109km from Cooma. Guided and self-guided cave tours are available as well as access to a natural thermal bathing pool, barbecue facilities, picnic areas and a number of short walks.Tickets are required for all caves. We visited Yarrangobilly Caves, Koscuiszko National Park, Thredbo and Jindabyne. I have to say- it was very strange being in a ski town and knowing I'm not in Europe, makes me want to go away on a ski holiday very soon. Amazing places and all worth a visit!!

The Jenolan Caves are limestone caves located within the Jenolan Karst Conservation Reserve in the Central Tablelands region, west of the Blue Mountains, in New South Wales, in eastern Australia. The caves and 3,083-hectare (7,620-acre) reserve are situated approximately 175 kilometres (109 mi) west of Sydney, 20 kilometres (12 mi) east of Oberon and 30 kilometres (19 mi) west of Katoomba.
The caves are the most visited of several similar groups in the limestone caves of the country, and the most ancient discovered open caves in the world. They include numerous Silurian marine fossils and the calcite formations, sometimes pure white, are noted for their beauty. The cave network follows the course of a subterranean section of the Jenolan River. It has more than 40 kilometres (25 mi) of multi-level passages and over 300 entrances. The complex is still being explored. The caves are a tourist destination, with eleven illuminated show caves open to paying visitors.
The caves and conservation reserve are one of the eight protected areas that was inscribed in 2000 to form part of the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Greater Blue Mountains Area. The Jenolan Karst Conservation Reserve is the most westerly of the eight protected areas within the World Heritage Site. The reserve forms part of the Great Dividing Range and was listed on the Register of the National Estate in 1978.
In 2004, the caves and reserve were listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register with the following inscription:

The caves and karst landscapes developed as important scientific and tourist destinations throughout the late 19th and 20th centuries, and the Reserve is highly significant as the first public reserve set aside in NSW for the protection of a natural resource – in this case, the Jenolan Caves.— Statement of significance, New South Wales State Heritage Register, 2004.))
What the New South Wales Government has listed as State-significant heritage is actually the Reserve. Just the caves themselves were later nominated as National Heritage (omitting the great majority of the Reserve which has no national heritage values and in part may have no State-significant heritage values).
Tourism

The Jenolan Caves are located three hours drive from Sydney and Canberra. Private coach companies operate day tours from Sydney and from Katoomba railway station. There is no public transport to Jenolan Caves. The caves attract over 250,000 visitors a year, making it one of the most popular tourist locations in rural New South Wales, and has won numerous tourism awards.
Historically the caves were only accessible via the Six Foot Track, a 45km long bridle trail from Katoomba established in 1884. This trail became in disused in the early 1900s after new roads were built in the area, but was reopened as a bushwalking track in 1984. It is now one of the most popular overnight bushwalks in the Blue Mountains area .
Ten of the area's dark caves are open for regular guided tours every day (1 to 2 hours per tour). These show cave tour sizes vary. For example, the delicate Pool of Cerberus Cave can have only 8 on a tour, while the Lucas Cave (with its large chambers) can have up to 65 people per tour.
Tours vary in difficulty. Imperial Cave, for example, has the fewest stairs, while the River Cave is the most strenuous. The average tourist can tour any of these show caves.
A self-guided tour of the huge Nettle Cave/Devils Coach House is also available. The self-guided tour gives visitors a choice of many languages. One of the choices on the self-guided tour is an Aboriginal culture commentary.
Night tours run every night except Sundays, including the popular ghost tour, 'Legends, Mysteries & Ghosts'.
Several undeveloped caves are available for adventure caving (2 hours to all-day tours). These adventure caving tours include the Plughole Tour, which runs daily and includes basic abseiling. Other more challenging adventure caving tours are available.
The Cathedral Chamber, part of the Lucas Cave is famous for its acoustics. Underground concerts take place in this chamber. Concerts also take place in the Grand Arch, including the annual 'Carols in the Caves', which raises money for charity.
During school holidays, specially–developed tours are available for children. Jenolan Caves has long been a popular destination for school excursions.

Epic Trip this Weekend, when we visit Braidwood, Yarrangobilly in Kosciuszko National Park, Long Plain then finish of in the Brindabella Ranges before heading home via Tumut a 1100km Round trip from Sydney.
01:09 BraidWood Camp
We started the weekend of on friday afternoon. Leaving Sydney at 5pm. With the intentions of trying to atleast be through Canberra and camped with only about 200km to go. Giving us an ETA at Yarrangobilly Caves and Thermal Pools around 9:30am.
This was not the case, realising we would not make camp by 9pm Friday, we diverted to Araleun, just past Braidwood where we set camp for the night and caught some spontainiuos milkyway astro.
03:34 Leaving camp at 7:30am we make for Namadgi National Park and take the scenic way towards Kosciuszko NP on Boboyan Rd with a few stops at some senic lookouts 'Hospital Hill and variours high country huts along the way.
05:00 Around 12pm we turned into Yarrangobilly Caves rd, here we checked out
05:49 South Glory Cave (self-guided) then the
06:58 Famous thermal pools of the snowy mountains and finally the we do the
10:33 Jillabenan Cave tour the oldest cave which is only 100m long
12:52 All done at Yarrangobilly we head up the road to Long Plain Hut camp ground, where we were welcomed with the howles of the local wild dogs, then set camp to enjoy the unexpected light show provided by the heavens.
14:10 Sunday morning we wake to inch this ice and frost over everything a pitchure perfect scene. With the rising of the sun the morning quickly heated up as we prepared for a day of wheeling and fun though the Brindabella Ranges, heading towards Weejasper, then Tumut then through Gundagai towards Yass, up the Hume Highway home to Sydney.

Yarrangobilly Caves: Thermal Pool
In a pristine mountain river setting, you probably don’t expect to find a pool, never mind one that is permanently heated to 27ºC by a natural spring. But that’s exactly what you’ll discover at Yarrangobilly Caves after a short but steep descent from the carpark. Measuring about 20m long and 2.5m deep, the main pool gently overflows like a waterfall into a children’s wading pool.
Because it is a consistently warm temperature, the pool is perfect year-round. In summer, head there after exploring the caves for a quick swim and a picnic. Keep your eyes open for some of the local residents, including the water dragons that enjoy the peaceful surrounds of the pool and nearby river. In winter, it’s magical to float in the warmth, watching steam rise from the surface of the water, with snow blanketing the ground around you.
