Walk Around Volcanic Yeak Laom Lake Cambodia
Yeak Laom Volcanic Lake was a short drive from Terres Rouge Louge, a picturesque place surrounded by pristine rainforest. Due to the lake's depth of 48 meters/157 feet, its water is exceptionally clean and crystal clear. The lake is almost perfectly round.
We took a 45 minute walk around the lake and happened upon two Toumpoun minority men who, unknowingly, showed were perfect examples of how the hill tribe people live off the land. Yeak Laom Lake also happened to have one of the best, if not only, places to do a little hunting and gathering of souvenirs; remember that!
Travelers can swim in the protected and gorgeous lake, life jackets are recommended, and it was a beautiful excursion.

Lake Yeak Laom Ecotourism Resort - Attraction in Ratanakiri Province
Yeak Laom Lake is one of the most tourist attraction and tourist destination in Ratanakiri province in Cambodia. It's not too far from Banlung town, the provincial capital of this province. It's about 5km. north-east of Banlung town and market. We travel there by car or motorcycle as the road is nice and smooth. We need to pay 10,000
riel (US$2.50) for our Van to get into the resort. It's a big circle lake surrounded by trees, natures and wildlife. We got there in the morning, the sun is not really shining as it's a rainy season and rain just stopped. Lake Yeak Laom is eco-tourism site where you can relax and smell the fresh air. Let's enjoy the video.

Insight in to our two days spent in Banlung, North East Cambodia. We visited Yeak Laom lake, countless waterfalls, went jungle trekking and visited some minority communities furthur up the river.
The people there were fantastic and we can't wait to visit them all again some day.
Our home for the duration of our stay was the Tree Top Eco Lodge. We loved our time there and had our own log cabin in the trees, the resident Tokay Gecko wasn't too much trouble! :)

Ratanakiri (Khmer: រតនគិរី[2] IPA: [ˌreə̯̆ʔ taʔ ˈnaʔ ki ˈriː]) is a province (khaet) of Cambodia located in the remote northeast. It borders the provinces of Mondulkiri to the south and Stung Treng to the west and the countries of Laos and Vietnam to the north and east, respectively. The province extends from the mountains of the Annamite Range in the north, across a hilly plateau between the Tonle San and Tonle Srepok rivers, to tropical deciduous forests in the south. In recent years, logging and mining have scarred Ratanakiri's environment, long known for its beauty.
For over a millennium, Ratanakiri has been occupied by the highland Khmer Loeu people, who are a minority elsewhere in Cambodia. During the region's early history, its Khmer Loeu inhabitants were exploited as slaves by neighboring empires. The slave trade economy ended during the French colonial era, but a harsh Khmerization campaign after Cambodia's independence again threatened Khmer Loeu ways of life. The Khmer Rouge built its headquarters in the province in the 1960s, and bombing during the Vietnam War devastated the region. Today, rapid development in the province is altering traditional ways of life. More info:
