Todos los taxistas de la república mexicana se rigen por cada estado, según sea el caso donde radiques, no todos llevan el mismo procedimiento para hacer sus actividades de taxista, y las cuentas también varían dependiendo, placas, zonas, horarios de trabajo y hasta si eres dueño o no, chequa mi vídeo.
Why Taxis Are Often Yellow
What comes to your mind when you see the color yellow? One of your top 5 answers is “Taxi”, right? And even though not all taxis are yellow around the world, this color is strongly associated with the industry. But why is that?
The first taxis in the U.S. weren’t yellow. In 1907, businessman Harry Allen bought red and green vehicles in France and transported them to New York. However, he had to face some competition, since a lot of other cab-companies popped up. And their owners painted the vehicles in different colors – black, brown, white, checkered – so that each company had a signature color.

SUMMARY:
- In 1908, another businessman, Albert Rockwell, opened a taxi company in New York and decided to paint his cabs yellow just because it was his wife's favorite color.
- But it was John Hertz from Chicago who, in 1915, chose this color for his fleet based on science. He wanted his cars to be painted the same color to unify his fleet and to be more attention-grabbing for clients.
- In 1967, New York authorities issued restrictions on the color the licensed taxis could be. As you can guess, they chose yellow.
- But taxis aren’t only yellow because this color draws attention. It's the optimal color for cabs since it increases their visibility to other drivers on the road, decreasing the chances for accidents.
- New studies have shown that, the most easy-to-spot color for our vision is bright green. “Why are taxis still yellow?”, you’re probably wondering.
- The thing is, using green has one big disadvantage: this color can blend easily with the surrounding trees and grass.
- A Fiaker is a horse-drawn taxi that’s been transporting passengers since 1693, and is still used in the Austrian capital.
- With so many canals and so few streets, people in Venice have no other way than to use gondolas and water taxis to get around the city.
- Bicitaxi in Mexico City is a three-wheeled bike covered by a bright green plastic frame. There’s only room for a driver and two passengers in the rear seat.
- If you ever plan to visit Spetses Island, there’s one thing you should keep in mind: cars are banned on this Greek island!
- Cocotaxi is a tricycle that works with pedals and is surrounded by an opened plastic cover. Some of the cocotaxis are equipped with a tiny motor to help a driver when going uphill.
- Extremely popular in Bangkok and other Thai cities, tuk-tuk is for those who don’t want to waste time in traffic jams, and those who are hesitant about using fast motorcycles.
- The Victoria harbor in Canada added its own twist to public transport. Why chose a regular taxi if you can commute by water taxi and make your trip an exciting journey?
- In a hurry to get to JFK or Newark Airports from Manhattan island? Then take a helicopter ride! The helicopter service Gotham Air launched in 2015, and allows its clients to save tons of time.
- The Shikara taxi is a carved wooden boat that can take you around the lakes in the northern Indian states of Jammu and Kashmir. These boats are made of deodar, a special type of wood that doesn’t rot in water.

Taxi-Turned-Uber Drivers Get a New Lease on Life
San Diego cab companies insist they aren’t losing customers to the mobile rideshare app Uber. But they are losing money because of it.
The cash is following cabdrivers, who are making the jump to Uber in droves.
“I don’t have a customer problem. I have enough customers to fill these cabs everyday,” said Anthony Palmeri, who owns taxi dispatcher Yellow Radio Service. “My owners don’t have enough drivers to drive the taxicabs, so the cab sits idle.”
The people who own cabs, and the city permits to operate them, often don’t make their living from actually picking up passengers. Their income comes from leasing the vehicles to drivers, who pay them an average of $400 a week and take home whatever profits are left over.

Inside Tijuana's Taxi Showdown
Yellow cab drivers in Tijuana have historically been among the first to greet people right as they walk cross the U.S.-Mexico border.
For decades, yellow taxis had first dibs on tourists, and they had little in the way of competition. But the rise of ride-sharing companies like Uber has disrupted the taxi industry there, and the yellow cabs aren't happy about it.
On this week’s podcast, Andrew Keatts and Kinsee Morlan sit down with Derrik Chinn and Alejandro Torres from the tour company Turista Libre to discuss the Tijuana taxi cab turf war and how it connects to Tijuana politics.
Early this month, a video surfaced that showed a flock of cab drivers harassing and possibly physically assaulting a man for opting to take an Uber instead of a taxi.
This kind of harassment has been happening for months, say Chinn and Torres, but the yellow cab company's political power stopped city officials from doing anything about it.
City leaders did finally step in when the video started getting lots of views and publicity and removed the cabs from their spot at the border, but the situation is still far from settled.
Torres said when tourists have more options, they often get to see a better side of Tijuana, a city that's long struggled with a reputation for being dirty and dangerous.
“For the longest time, the cab drivers in Tijuana were the original and first wave tour guides, and I think in a lot of ways that has led to this misunderstanding of what tourism in Tijuana is really about,” Torres said. “They're taking you to mediocre places ... so of course Tijuana has this image problem because look who's promoting it.”
Also on the podcast, Keatts talks with Montgomery Monica, a candidate for the San Diego City Council's District 4. They discuss her background as a criminal justice advocate and what she hopes to accomplish if she gets the job.

How to find cheaper taxis at Puerto Vallarta Airport
If you are not traveling too heavy, without too much luggage and if you have the time, a great tip for saving on the Puerto Vallarta Airport taxi rates is to go catch a normal taxi on the other side of the highway.
Puerto Vallarta's airport is a Federal area and taxis there have to have special permits and pay extra taxes and licences, so they charge more than the normal taxis in Puerto Vallarta.
This video shows how you can leave the area and catch a normal PV taxi from the airport to the rest of the area. You can go northward to Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerías, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Punta Mita and maybe even further away, to Sayulita, San Pancho or Lo de Marcos.
If you cross the highway, you'll also be able to uber into town, as uber drivers will not pick you up in the airport premises, not only because it's illegal, but they can also get a big fine and maybe get detained too.
I talked to the taxi drivers and they provided a phone number to call them (it's at the end of the video) and they guaranteed that they would charge half of the Puerto Vallarta Taxi rates or what the PV Airport taxis had quoted you.
