Armenia Fund: Extreme Tourism in Yenokavan
(English-language video. For the Armenian version, visit
Yenokavan, in Armenia’s border region of Tavush, is a beloved mountain retreat. In recent years, it has become one of the republic’s top tourist destinations, thanks to entrepreneur Artak Chagharyan and his father.
Yenokavan is home to the Apaga Resort, which offers vacationers idyllic lodging as well as hikes and horseback trail rides across the breathtaking landscape.
Yenokavan’s latest claim to fame is the Yell Extreme Park, where thrill seekers can paraglide or zipline above a gorge hundreds of meters deep. Other recent additions include a rope park, where visitors take on the challenge of sliding from one treetop to the next; as well as a 4x4 Club, which offers mountain expeditions in Jeeps.

Caves and Waterfalls of Lastiver
Lastiver is located in Tavush region. Most of Tavush, which is in the North-East of Armenia, is covered with forests and green zones. The name of the region derives from Tavush country of historic Great Hayk. Today’s territory partially corresponds to the previous one. The region is rich in rivers. The largest is Aghstev; one of its significant tributaries - Kachaghbyur, leads to the wonderful corners of Ijevan, to Lastiver. Cave, desert, swift river, small and huge waterfalls, forest and wonderful nature. Tourists from abroad, as well as locals, come to see this awesome cave-desert. The road itself is very interesting and attractive, especially for extreme lovers.
During Mongol invasions in XIII-XIV cc locals found their shelter exactly in this cave. From then on the location has been called “Lastiver”, which is translated as “up the raft”.
Someone left a bas-relief on the wall of the cave. It is easy to notice that he wanted to illustrate a wedding. The author was creating this bas-relief during his seclusion in this cave. That is why the cave is also called “Anapat”, which is translated as “desert”.
There is wonderful waterfall, noising in the bottom of the canyon. It is the inseparable part of local nature.

HIKING TO LASTIVER WATERFALL WITH OUR SOUTH KOREAN GROUP
Hiking through the beautiful forests in the majestic Tavush Province of Armenia. After a long day, getting relaxed around a bonfire at the Apaga Resort in Yenokavan, and having a cozy birthday party dinner with Armenian wine and Chinese food in Yerevan (Tavush Province, Armenia June 2015)
Lastiver Waterfall is located in the Tavush Province of Armenia. Most of Tavush, which is in the northeast of Armenia, is covered with lush forests and green zones. The area is also plentiful in rivers. The largest is Aghstev with one of its significant tributaries, the Khachakhpyur River, that leads to the wonderful corner of Ijevan, the Lastiver. The cave, desert, swift river, small and large waterfalls, forests and spectacular nature - tourists from around the world, as well as the locals, love to come to Lastiver and see this natural attraction.
During the Mongol invasions in 13th and 14th century locals found their shelter in the Lastiver Cave. The cave is located on almost flat slope of the canyon. In order to reach the cave people had to construct a ladder, made of superposed logs. The ladder reminded a raft. That's the reason it has been called the “Lastiver”, which is translated from Armenian as “up the raft”.

Amazing Zipline at Yell Extreme Park, Armenia

Bart the zipline guide says, ok, good luck Neils and pushes me off into the forest. He had been calling me Neils all day and I liked it so I never corrected him. Excuse my language, but I invite you to try controlling your fuck quota after flying through the forest at 60mph. It's tough.

A Breathtaking Resort in Syunik, Armenia
A 2015 profile of the Harsnadzor resort, which is nestled in a forest near the village of Halidzor, in Armenia’s Syunik Region.
The famed barrel-shaped rooms of the hotel are built along the edge of the breathtaking Harsi Dzor Canyon, through which passes the Wings of Tatev aerial tramway. Ever since the construction of the tramway, tourism has boomed in the local communities of Tatev, Halidzor, and Shinuhayr.
Shortly after the construction of the Harsnadzor resort’s initial rooms in 2014, it quickly earned international acclaim as a top tourist destination, encouraging its owners to go on to build additional rooms.
As they enjoy the dazzling beauty of the countryside and nearby attractions including the 9th-century Tatev Monastery, visitors gladly note that they lose track of time here.
Artsakh’s Own Wine Brand
(Armenian-language video. For the English version, visit
In 2010, Ernest Avetisyan and his son, Gregory, established Kataro Winery in their native village of Togh, located in the Hadrut Region of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh Republic).
Using a unique local grape called Khendoghli, the winery produced 5,000 bottles in its initial year. Soon Kataro garnered significant recognition, including a coveted first prize at a prestigious competition in Armenia. As a result, the winery tripled its production in 2011, and has since continued to grow in stature, with exports to Europe and Russia — and soon the United States.
Today Kataro Winery is highly regarded locally and internationally alike, as Artsakh’s own wine brand, and one that’s sought-after by serious wine aficionados.
