==================================
I think this is a great place to go if you feel like some natural and don't want a shit lot of people around.
I usually go from Taipei Zoo MRT station, then take Gondola to the top, and walk to the Yinhe Cave Waterfall.
P.S : Don't go when is raining. And make sure you walk back before sunset.

HIKING IN TAIPEI|YINHE CAVE AND WATERFALL TO MAOKONG GONDOLA
#FILIPINASLIFEINTAIWAN
Yinhe Cave Hiking Trail is the trail connects to MAOKONG GONDOLA after 2 km,which takes only few hours to walk. While it accessible from both ends, we enjoying starting to Xindian because the beginning was the toughest part, lots of stairs!! with the most rewarding view.
To get the trailhead, take the green line going Xindian station. The easiest way from there is to jump in Taxi. There are also buses such as the GR12 that depart from Xindian station and stop quite close to the trailhead. I recommend taking a taxi and it's a good idea to stock up on water /food before you leave the station. The driver should drop you off near Yun Yang Temple.,along a one way street that you can walk up to access the trail.

Silver River Cave (Yinhe) Waterfall Trail at New Taipei City
Yinhe Cave Hiking Trail
Location :Xindian District, New Taipei City, Taiwan 231
GPS: 121.53333°E 24.95°N
The Silver River (yinhe) Cave Hiking Trail . It begins with stone stairs meandering upward along a mountain creek, and within 14 minutes of passing by the trail’s entrance you can see a waterfall overhead. Beside the waterfall is a crevice where a temple has been built, and on the wall is a sign that says: “a place of charm and beauty.” The waterfall water looks like drinkable, but I am not too sure.
{Hiking} Yinhe Cave/銀河洞
Yinhe Cave is a small cave in a rock face with a small temple in it and a waterfall beside it. There is an easy to follow trail you can access from the Beiyi Highway south of Xindian. Follow the trail to the cave and then further up the mountain and you'll eventually reach Taipei's well-known Maokong area where you can enjoy a cup of tea in one of the tea houses there and then take the Maokong Gondola to get back to the big city.

Yinhe Cave is an easy hike with 220 MASL and 940 meter from the trailhead. You can plan a multi-itineraries in this area since every connected trails is only short distance walk and it is well-marked so you have nothing to fear that you will lost in the jungle. You can start to hike either from Maokong or From Xindian. From Maokong you can start the trail up to Mt. Erjiaoge or Camphor trail. From Xindian, it start at Lingdingyu Road near the small temple where Shiela and I decided to start our adventure .
Legend has it that the rock above the waterfall has the footprints left Lu Xianzu, and the footprints on the rock of Jingmeixian. The cave formed by a concave mountain wall stands in the water hole. The oncoming breeze entrains the water and is quite cool.Though it only release small amount of water. Inside the cave is a small temple dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva. The ferns hanging between the walls of the cave set off the palace temple embedded in the cliff. This mountain is seems the home of some large species of spiders. Spider web welcome you as you starts to walk up to the trails. I saw Taiwan Golden Silk Spider in different colors spanned everywhere just along the trails. Beautiful and giant butterflies are also teasing you with their colorful wings as you enjoy the lush green of trees around. I recommend this trail to someone who had no much experience in hiking and had limited time and money to travel far beyond Taipei.
Erjiaoge shan 鵝角格山 trail was the hardest and steepy section of the path, there were a couple of ropes to pull yourself up but actually they would only be necessary if you were coming down in wet conditions, the climb really wasn’t that strenuous for people who had a lot experienced in hiking. But It was really fun to do with someone who is interested in nature. It is a condensed forest. The trees and plants along this trail is beauteous. It is also a little bit challenging to me, since I carried my 6 kls bag for 2 days and 2 night with little sleep since I start my 2N2D adventures with lots of tough walked. You can see the marker on the peak where you can view the Taipei City and Taipei 101.
How to get there:
From Taipei Station, take the Taipei MRT Xindian Line to Xindian Station, transfer to Xindian Passenger Green Line 12. You can ask the driver to drop you at Yinhedong trail entrance.
From Taipei Station, Take brown line train to Muzha or Taipei Zoo. Take cable car, or taxi up to Cable car Station. The Trailhead just located infront of Maokong Gondola Station beside Guan Ding Tea House. The trail will lead you to Mt. Erjiaoge or Camphor Trail to Greenery Cubes Cafe at Yinhe road and to Yinhedong and waterfall.
