The Israeli Museum at the Yitzhak Rabin Center. Tel-Aviv Israel
יצחק רבין - המוזיאון הישראלי במרכז רבין The Israeli Museum is the first and only in Israel to explore the development of the State of Israel as a young democracy.
Built in a downward spiral, the museum presents two parallel stories: the history of the State and Israeli society, and the biography of Yitzhak Rabin. The museum exhibits focus on historical turning points in the country's development, presenting the conflicts, social challenges and dilemmas the country faced at that time. Along the inner corridor and interwoven with the exhibits' narratives is the story of the life of Yitzhak Rabin, the connecting thread in the country's history.
The museum is incredibly rich with over 180 documentary films, 1,500 still photographs and hundreds of memorabilia. We recommend no less than an hour-and-a half to two hours for a tour.
The museum experience is guided by individual audio devices. These devices allow visitors to tour the museum at their own pace. The audio devices are offered in Hebrew, English and Arabic.
The museum will offer guided tours beginning Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Guided tours will be offered in Hebrew and in English. Guided tours are recommended for groups of students and soldiers as well as families and groups from abroad. Please inquire with the museum desk for more information.

My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

ISRAEL: YITZHAK RABIN REMEMBERED
English/Nat
As Israeli elections take place on Monday, many are remembering assassinated Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.
Rabin was killed by an ultra-nationalist Jew, three-and-a-half years ago.
Rabin had begun the process of making peace with the Palestinians, which upset many extreme right-wingers who are against reconciliation.
His death brought about elections that saw the triumph of the right-wing Likud government.
Now, many of his old supporters hope the tide will turn back to the direction Rabin was heading, if Labour Party leader, Ehud Barak wins Monday's election.
Polls are suggesting Barak has the lead in the race against ruling Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Leah Rabin, wife of the assassinated prime minister, Yitzhak Rabin, was confident of Barak's victory as she cast her vote in Israel's general election on Monday.
The spectre of political violence still traumatizes many Israelis who remember Rabin's tragic assassination in Tel Aviv.

i24NEWS DESK | Former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin died on November 4, 1995 , making it 24 years since his assassination that changed Israel's political climate forever.
Story [Related] :
Thousands of Israelis are expected to attend a rally on the Rabin Square next to Tel Aviv's center to commemorate the 24th anniversary of the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.
The police started cordoning the area off in preparation for the Saturday night event honoring the Labor leader assassinated by a right-wing extremist over his peace efforts.
But even before the rally kicked off, the undercurrents of Israel's deadlocked political scene already left its mark on it.
Amir Peretz, the current leader of the Labor party was denied an opportunity to speak at the rally, which hails the familiar Yes to peace, no to violence slogan that resonated throughout Israel in 1995.
Instead, the organizers said that Blue and White's Benny Gantz would be the only politician to address the demonstration as he is most representative of peace and unity.
The controversies around the event also include Maor Edri, a right-leaning singer, cancelling the performance at the rally over its perceived political nature.
The decision followed a post by Yoav “The Shadow” Eliasi, a right-wing rapper, who called on Edri to ignore the rally as it would be all about incitement against the right, not honoring Rabin's memory.
