Very Nice place for weekend... (Devarayana Durga) Tumkur Dist.
After reaching the top hill parking lot, you need to climb approximately 100 odd steps to reach Yoga Narasimha temple. The premises of temple is neat and tidy. Even if you are non-spiritual person, you will love the environment. There is a small pond next to temple which serves as good photography spot.

Bhoga Narasimha Temple
The Bhoga Narasimha Temple is located at the base of the hillock of the Devarayanadurga and the deity as we all know is dedicated to Lord Narasimha. This temple enjoyed the patronage of many kings from various dynasties and also is well known for its simple but beautiful architectural marvel. There are numerous pillars dotting the temple, on which inscriptions have been carved regarding the history of the temple and the various rulers.
Yoga Narasimha Temple
Another temple which is located in Devarayanadurga is the Yoga Narasimha Temple which is on the hillock. Around 100 steps have to be climbed to reach the temple and the scenic beauty will definitely leave the climbers spellbound. Lush greenery can be found around the hillock which gives a relief from the tedious task of climbing the steps.

Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple, Yadugiri Hill, Melukote, Karnataka, India
YoganarasimhaSwamy Temple, Yadugiri Hill,Melukote in Pandavapurataluk of Mandya district, Karnataka. Early in the 12th century, the famous Srivaishnava saint Sri Ramanujacharya, who hailed from Tamil Nadu, stayed at Melukote for about 12 years. It has thus become a prominent centre of the Srivaishnava sect.
On the top of the hill is an attractive MelkoteNarasimha temple dedicated to Lord Yoga Narasimha. It is believed that the image of Yoga Narasimha temple at melkote was installed by Prahlada himself. KrishnarajaWodeyar III presented a gold crown to Lord Yoga Narasimha.
CheluvanarayanaSwamy Temple (Thirunarayana), Melukote in Pandavapurataluk of Mandya district, Karnataka. Early in the 12th century, the famous Srivaishnava saint Sri Ramanujacharya, who hailed from Tamil Nadu, stayed at Melukote for about 12 years. It has thus become a prominent centre of the Srivaishnava sect.
The principal temple is a square building of large dimensions but very plain, dedicated to Lord Cheluva-Narayana Swamy or Thirunarayana. Theutsavamurthi, which is a metallic image, represents the deity who is called Shelvapillai, Cheluva Raya and CheluvanarayanaSwamy, whose original name appears to have been Ramapriya (meaning Rama's Favourite). It is believed that this utsavamurthi belonged to and was worshipped by Lord Rama and the kings of the suryavamsa Dynasty for generations. Later the same idol was given to a king of Chandra vamsam (the dynasty of Lord Krishna) and was worshipped by Lord Krishna and many generations. So CheluvaNarayana is so unique that he was worshipped by both Rama and Krishna.
According to a legend, this metallic image was lost and was recovered by Sri Ramanujacharya.

Yoga Laxmi Narasimha Temple on the Hills of Devarayana Durga
Devarayana durga is famous mainly for two temples, Bhoga laxmi narasimha swamy temple at the foot of the hill and yoga laxmi narasimha swamy temple at the top of the hill. This place is about 70 kms from Bangalore. We had free lunch (rice, sambar etc) in bhoga laxmi narasimha swamy temple. After going to the top of the hill through motorable road we had to climb about 200 steps to reach yoga narasimha swamy temple on the hill at about 4000 ft above sea level. The views of the valley were very interesting while climbing the hill. There were large number of monkeys everywhere which were rather very friendly. Below bhoga laxmi narasimha swamy temple there was a small Bira anjaneya swamy temple and the temple pond. Overall the journey was excellent.

Nuggehalli Lakshmi Narasimha Temple Channarayapatna Tourism Hassan tourism Karnataka tourism
Nuggehalli Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Temple Hassan tourism Channarayapatna Tourism Karnataka tourism Temples of Karnataka.
The Lakshmi Narasimha temple was built in 1246 CE by Bommanna Dandanayaka, a commander in the Hoysala Empire during the rule of King Vira Someshwara. The Hoysala temple is dedicated to Lord Narasimha who is believed to be an avatar of Lord Krishna. The Lakshmi Narasimha temple built in the trikuta (three towers). From outside, the temple actually looks like a ekakuta . The temple is attributed to two well known Hoysala sculptors, Baichoja and Mallitamma. The three shrines contain the images of Venugopala, Keshava and Lakshminarasimha, all avatars of Vishnu. Records say that this place is ancient and was patronized by the Cholas prior to the Hoysala rule. Legend has it that a saint by name Rushbha, performed penance and that the Lord Lakshmi Narasimha appeared before him .
These wonderful temples come under the purview of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and they have classified these as the “Living Temple – Monument”, (which are very few in number) wherein the pooja to the Almighty is being performed uninterrupted from day one. This classification is given to about 50 odd temples in India.
Nuggehalli used to be a flourishing town as seen in the inscription Ch.238. & an ancient place near which the Chola king is said to have constructed a temple of ‘Jayagondeshwara’ & to which the Hoysala king Vishnuvardhana gave some grants in 1121 A.D. A number of temples dedicated to ‘Vishnu & his incarnation’ were constructed during the reign of Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana.
Located a short distance away in Nuggehalli, and built around the same time is the Sadashiva temple. The town was called Vijaya Somanathapura in ancient times and gained importance as an agrahara (place of learning) during the time of Bommanna Dandanayaka. Nuggehalli, (also spelled Nuggihalli), is a town in Hassan district of Karnataka, India. It is located on the Tiptur-Channarayapatna state highway and is about 50 km from Hassan city.
The Lakshmi-Narasimha temple is a trikutachala constructed in 1246 AD during the reign of Hoysala Somesvara. The three sanctums house images of Kesava in the west, Lakshmi Narasimha in north and Venugopala in south. On plan, the temple has three sanctums, the western has sukanasi opening into a navaranga, preceded by a large mukhamandapa, a later pillared mandapa and a mahadvara, all set in a prakara in east-west orientation. The main temple, and the later period mandapa, is built on a raised platform. The bhitti is similar to that of Kesava temple at Somnathpur, elegant sculptures are placed shoulder to shoulder under patra-latha torana.
