Osanbashi Pier & International Passenger Terminal Yokohama Japan
Video I took while visiting the Osanbashi Pier and International Passenger Terminal.
大さん橋・横浜 Osanbashi Pier, Yokohama JAPAN
Ōsanbashi Pier 大さん橋 is the main international pier at the Port of Yokohama, located in Naka Ward, Yokohama, Japan. Ōsanbashi is the oldest pier in Yokohama, originally constructed between 1889 and 1896.
To meet modern demands, Ōsanbashi was reconstructed between 1987 and 2002. The newly reconstructed passenger terminal is named the Yokohama International Passenger Terminal, designed by Foreign Office Architects. The departure/arrival lobby, ticketing booth, customs, immigration, shops and cafe are all on the 2nd floor of this terminal. There is an observation deck open to the public, on the rooftop.
Yokohama International Passenger Terminal Osanbashi (大さん橋国際客船ターミナル)
Osanbashi wharf has been working as a gateway to the sea of Japan since the completion in 1894.
Yokohama International Passenger Terminal Osanbashi is reopened in 2002. It's appropriate to the harbor and cruise ship terminal and has a space of unique design and innovative structure, representing Japan.
The terminal is possible to also have free entrance anyone, rooftop plaza is open 24 hours a day.
Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal
The Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal is a major port where foreign cruise ships dock during international cruises.
Surrounded by the sea, it features Yokohama’s best views of the Minato Mirai skyline, and the pier is one of the most creative architectural achievements you are ever likely to visit. Made of strips of wood, this long, winding pier also has large sections of grass, making it an ideal place to have a picnic. Depending on how you view it, it can also be a fascinating piece of abstract art. Osanbashi Pier is perfect for a leisurely walk with the family or a romantic date spot.
Ōsanbashi International Passenger Terminal - Yokohama, Japan
What from away looks just like a narrow strip of land, is indeed the roof deck of Yokohama’s Ōsanbashi International Passenger Terminal; a lovely spot where young and less young couples enjoy walking, taking a seat and staring at the sea.
The futuristic design of this wooden pier is definitely striking and confirms (provided there would it actually be the need to look for further evidence) the Japanese mastery of wood.
Approaching the Terminal, I had the unexpected but pleasant surprise to admire, in addition to the Pier itself, the Diamond Princess of London, which clearly accounted for the visit to this Yokohama attraction to be more enjoyable than expected.

Asia Cruise Vlog: Day 1 Yokohama Embarkation
How do we research our cruises? Cruiseline.com! Don't forget to check out reviews, tips and photos visit our wonderful sponsor:
Hey Cruisers,
It's day 1 of our Diamond Princess Asia Cruise series. This is the first day of our 12 night cruise, and we'll cover 2800 nautical miles as we visit Tokyo, Shimizu, Osaka, Taipei (Keelung), Hong Kong, Nha Trang & Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) Vietnam, and Singapore.
We start off this cruise vlog first thing in the morning with a lovely breakfast, courtesy of the Hotel Monterey Yokohama. The hotel worked out great (WiFI and breakfast were included!), and breakfast was the the perfect way to start the day. You'll want to watch breakfast for a look at a Japanese special, Natto. Besides breakfast, another great thing about the hotel is the terrific view of the adjacent Yamashita park and the Osanbashi cruise port. And speaking of the park, the boys checked it out with a nice morning walk while I got ready for the big day. After the walk, it was time to head out to the port. We decided to walk, and you'll get a good idea of exactly how walkable the port is it is from the Hotel Monterey Yokohama in this video. Port check-in was terrifically easy. It's a super nice port, and we were very comfortable there. After we board the Diamond Princess, we'll give you a look around our room, Izumi Japanese Bath, the spa, the gym, Kai Sushi, and a bit of the kid's club. You won't want to miss the sweet send off party from the Yokohama cruise port, and the lively sail away hosted by the bubbly cruise director Lynn Van Vorce. Thanks for joining us for this day 1 cruise vlog as we travel to Japan for our Diamond Princess Asia Cruise. We've got much more Asia cruise adventures ahead. We'll have some Asia cruise tips, more cruise vlogs from Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Singapore.
