Start of THE LONGEST Street in the WORLD
TORONTO Yonge Street is a major arterial route connecting the shores of Lake Ontario in Toronto to Lake Simcoe, a gateway to the Upper Great Lakes. Until 1999, the Guinness Book of World Records repeated the popular misconception that it was 1,896 km (1,178 mi) long, and thus the longest street in the world; this was due to a mistaken conflation of Yonge Street with the rest of Ontario's Highway 11. Yonge Street (including the Bradford-to-Barrie extension) is actually 86 kilometres long. The construction of Yonge Street is designated an Event of National Historic Significance in Canada. Yonge Street was fundamental in the original planning and settlement of western Upper Canada in the 1790s, informing the basis of the concession roads in Ontario today. Once the southernmost leg of Highway 11, linking the capital with northern Ontario, Yonge Street has been referred to as Main Street Ontario. Today, no section of Yonge Street is a provincial highway.
The street was named by Ontario's first colonial administrator, John Graves Simcoe, for his friend Sir George Yonge, an expert on ancient Roman roads. Yonge Street is a commercial main thoroughfare rather than a ceremonial one, with landmarks such as the Eaton Centre, Yonge-Dundas Square and the Hockey Hall of Fame located along its length—and lends its name to the Downtown Yonge shopping and entertainment district.
In Toronto and York Region, Yonge Street is the north-south baseline from which street numbering is reckoned east and west. The eastern branch of Line 1 Yonge–University serves nearly the entire length of the street in Toronto and acts as the spine of the Toronto subway system, linking to suburban commuter systems such as the Viva Blue BRT. See the 'Public Transit' section below.

Entire length of Yonge St longest street in the world Toronto to Barrie by motorcycle [stabilized]
For the Labour Day holiday, I decided to take a road trip on my motorcycle along Yonge Street (mistakingly called the longest street in the world by the 'Guiness Book Of Records' and many Canadians for a long time) as I wanted to do it's entire length... just cuz. Travelled the main thoroughfare then doubled back and did the old section as well.
Departed from the startpoint in Toronto at Lake Ontario and finished in Barrie at Lake Simcoe. Trip took about 1 hour and 44 minutes with a distance of about 90 kilometres.
Didn't have any close-calls, see any collisions, experience any bad drivers really, and saw only one cop car.
Note: A user called 'kndonehundred m' uploaded a Yonge St video too and it's a near-copy of mine! Right down to the description, captions, and a joke mid-way (just as I did)! The only difference: he's in a car. WTF.

Waterfront Toronto is an organization administering revitalization projects along the Toronto waterfront in Canada. Formed as a partnership of three levels of Canadian government in 2001, the organization is administering several blocks of land redevelopment projects surrounding Toronto Harbour and various other initiatives to promote the revitalization of the area, including public transit, housing developments, brownfield rehabilitation, possible removal of the Gardiner Expressway in the area, the Martin Goodman Trail and lakeshore improvements and naturalization of the Don River. Actual development of the projects is done by other agencies, primarily private corporations. The projects include a series of wavedeck walkways and gathering places designed by West 8 and DTAH.
Yonge Street is a main street in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and its northern suburbs. It was once listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest street in the world and is listed as a national historic site. It was the site of Canada's first subway line.
Yonge Street is the home of or close to many places of interest in Toronto, including street and theatre acts, the Eaton Centre, the Hockey Hall of Fame and–at the very start of the road–'One Yonge Street', the offices of the Toronto Star newspaper. The Yonge Line of the Toronto subway under or along it from south of King Street to Finch Avenue. The Viva Blue BRT line goes along Yonge from Finch to Newmarket Bus Terminal.
