YORK WA WESTERN AUSTRALIA JAH ROC GALLERY AND CAFE PART 1 OF 2
York is the oldest inland town in Western Australia, situated 97 km east of Perth in the Avon Valley near Northam, and is the seat of the Shire of York. Home to an estimated 3,289 people in 2005, it was settled in 1831, only two years after Perth was settled in 1829. [edit] History With the increasing population of the then Swan River Settlement in 1829, it became evident that suitable land would have to be discovered for the growing of cereal crops needed to provide necessary food. Robert Dale, 21 year old Officer of the 63rd Regiment, was assigned the honour of making the first exploratory journey over the Darling Range during the winter months of 1830 into what was later to become known as the Avon Valley. As a result of these explorations, Governor Stirling decided that the new district would be thrown open for selection and this was done by Government Notice on 11 November 1830. Named after the city of York in England, the first settlers in the district reached the valley on 15 September 1831, and immediately set about the construction of huts, the preparation required for their stock and the cultivation of new land. The first decade of settlement in the Avon Valley showed steady progress and a clear indication that the whole district should develop into a rich and prosperous farming area. A township did not begin to appear until 1836 when an army barracks and store were built. It then began to take shape and great improvements were noted as private and Government buildings were erected.[1] By the late 1880s the town was teeming with miners and fossickers, all alighting from the train and preparing to make the long journey across the plains to the goldfields. It was during the period 1886 to 1900 that most of the town's impressive buildings were constructed.«

Waltzing Malta, Malta television programme, episodes 129 130, 2001, Barry York
I make no claim to own the material but share it in the interests of Maltese-Australian history.
Waltzing Matilda was a television programme of Malta Public Broadcasting Services, produced and presented by Josephine Zammit Cordina, with the support of her husband Harry, who had long experience in the television industry.
The programme looked at Maltese life in Australia and ran from 415 episodes over the years 1994 to 2012.
It also ran on Melbourne TV channel 31 from 2000, making it a rare phenomenon in 'ethnic broadcasting'.
These two episodes are from 2001 and I wish to thank Josephine and Harry for their permission to digitize the VHS tapes they sent me long ago, and to
share them with a view to enhancing understanding of Australia's immigration history and the Maltese-Australian story.
The first episode here features my father,
Loreto John York, filmed when Josephine and
Harry visited Brunswick in Melbourne with their
local camerman Joe Montebello.
Louis Zammit and Concetta Sciberras also feature
in this episode.
The second one features Fredu Cachia, Rosemarie Attard,
the Maltese Literature Group of Victoria, Barry York,
Charles N Mifsud and the Maltese Cultural
Association of NSW.

Buses in York, England - 2016
Public transport within the city is largely bus based. First York operates the majority of the city's local bus services, as well as the York park and ride services. York was the location of the first implementation of FirstGroup's experimental, and controversial, ftr bus concept, which sought to confer the advantages of a modern tramway system at a lower cost. The service was withdrawn following an election manifesto pledge by the Labour Group at the 2011 local government election.[134] Transdev York and also operate a large number of local bus services. Open top tourist and sightseeing buses are operated by Transdev York on behalf of City Sightseeing.

Old York Mill # Bluejaymedia #0414719250
The Country Town of York is oldest inland town in Western Australia.
Founded just two years after Perth and Set in the beautiful Avon Valley, the town is now a popular destination for tourist and families seeking a relaxed country lifestyle.
Modern amenities including shops, banks, sporting facilities and medical services provide convenience and security to its residences.
The York Mill Established in 1892 stands proud as you enter York on the main road from Perth and with vision could become an even greater draw card for Visitors Festivals or Showrooms.
The historic 4 storey red brick Mill Building was a cross roads of industry and echoes the charm and nostalgia of those early days.
The build has previously housed a gallery, showroom and includes several levels of bright rooms and spaces for a variety of potential future uses.
Rough and polished floorboards high beamed ceilings and strong timber pillars on each level add to the aesthetic appeal along with wooden stairs worn by more than a century of footsteps.
The original workers crib still hangs off the side of the mill.
The massive rail side warehouse and saw tooth shed offer a weatherproof venue for concerts or exhibitions and retail outlets.
Zoned Town Centre Historical destination Dual street frontage including plenty of parking make this venue at 10 Henrietta York an outstanding investment opportunity .
