Reykjavik Food Lovers Tour - Traditional Icelandic Food
REYKJAVIK FOOD LOVERS TOUR – TRADITIONAL ICELANDIC FOOD
Treat your taste buds to the tastiest tour in Iceland.
They say that sharing a meal is the best way to get to know each other, we think our Reykjavik Food Lovers Tour with at least 6 foodie stops is even better!
Our stops include the oldest restaurant in Reykjavik, a legendary hot dog stand, our favorite food market and one of the top restaurants in Iceland.
If you’re a food lover, then a casual stroll around Reykjavik, sampling traditional dishes from some of our favorite spots, is going to be your little slice of heaven.
Our Reykjavik Food Lovers Tour samples at least 15 different Icelandic dishes; both traditional classics and modern favorites. We know all the best spots to get the famous Icelandic lamb soup (just like mamma makes it), Skyr (a type of yogurt) and delicious lobster soup. You can even try some fermented shark if you dare.
Keep warm with a belly full of good food!
Icelandic food isn’t well known by the rest of the world, but we’re hoping to change that. We have long, dark winters where we spend a lot of time indoors, and we have an abundance of fresh meat, fish and dairy, so we’ve kinda perfected this whole ‘cooking’ business.
You’ll learn what the Vikings ate and how Icelandic people have survived harsh winters thanks to our special cooking and preserving methods.
The tour runs every Saturday and Sunday from 1 pm – 4:00 pm and on some weekdays at 5 pm and we’ll walk around 2.5km, making plenty of stops along the way. With no more than 12 people on a tour, you’ll be able to ask any questions about Icelandic food and culture, plus make a few new friends. And, you certainly won’t leave feeling hungry!
Bon appetite! Or, as we say in Iceland ”Verði þér að góðu.”
The Reykjavik Food tour is available for private groups upon request. Get in touch to discuss: yfir@yourfriendinreykjavik.com
Reykjavik Folklore Walking Tour - Meet the Elves, Trolls & Ghosts of Iceland
Iceland is sometimes called the land of the Sagas and on this folklore walk, you get the chance to hear many interesting sagas involving the hidden people and creatures of Iceland
We will tell you all about the Icelandic Elves, Trolls, Ghosts like the Deacon of the dark river, the unique mostly aquatic monsters, the 13 Santa’s (it’s not enough to have just one Santa Claus in Iceland after all ;)), their mother the child eating troll called Grýla and finally the only known serial killer of Iceland in a land where it’s easy to get lost in the lava fields.
In the long winter nights in Iceland storytelling has been the primary entertainment for people so there are reasons why Icelanders love books and have the highest literacy rate in the world. 1 in 10 Icelanders writes a book in his lifetime so we obviously love to tell stories and you sure won’t be disappointed by joining our walk and hearing a couple
J.R.R. Tolkien was heavily influenced by Norse mythology and the Icelandic Sagas when he wrote The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit so we will explain some of the fun similarities between our worlds
This tour runs every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday at 20 (8 pm) in the summertime and is perfect for those who want a little adventure in their life because the story’s come alive on our walk.
Reykjavik Pub Crawl - Icelandic Beer Tour
Our Reykjavik Beer Tour will take you to Reykjavik’s best bars to sample 10 of Iceland’s delicious craft beers, most of which you can only find in Iceland! We’ll fill you in on the history of beer, from the Vikings, right through to the resurgence of microbreweries today.
Skál! (that’s ‘cheers’ in Icelandic).
You can book through our website =
We base our selection of beers on what‘s on tap when you join our tour.
We are of course happy to cater to your preferences for beer but at the same time encourage you to be adventurous.
Our Reykjavik beer tasting tour is guaranteed to leave you with a warm buzz and with the prices for alcohol like they are in Iceland you can be sure you get value for money by joining our tour.
We will also give you tips on how to save a little bit on drinks while you are here.
If you do not enjoy beer but still want to join The Reykjavik Pub Crawl, we can adjust the tour for you, offering you 5 different Icelandic spirits or snaps.
We think that one of the best ways to get a feel for a new city is to sit down and have a few beers with the locals.
You don’t have to be a special beer lover to have fun on our tour, and maybe you will even be introduced to a beer style you will love.
The Reykjavik Pub Crawl – Icelandic Beer Tour is your chance to get to know the best Icelandic craft beers for you to enjoy on your trip. Icelandic people have a short, but proud history of making beer (we need to put our lovely, pure glacial water to good use). We will tell you about our history of beer, from the Vikings, right through to the resurgence of microbreweries today. Beer was actually banned in Iceland for 74 years. Thankfully, this is not the case anymore! You’ll learn all about this bizarre story, and our unique drinking culture on the tour.
Our group sizes are small, or 12 people max so we are able to chat about anything and everything Icelandic, not just about alcoholic drinks
The tour is the perfect way to kick off your night in Reykjavik or make the most of your stopover. You can even pick our brains for the best places to eat after the tour, or where to party if your night is heading that way.

Ultimate 13 hidden secrets, things to do and best places to visit in Reykjavik. My travel guide is loaded with tips for Iceland which I carefully selected. You won't believe number #7 -- Can we make it to 1,000 LIKES? ---
Complete list:
Trust me, Iceland has a lot more to offer besides natural beauty and breathtaking scenery.
The best time to visit Iceland is either in early February to see the Northern Lights or mid-summer for the Icelandic music festivals.
1. Start off at Cafe Loki and try their incredible Icelandic lamp soup, herring sandwich and rye bread ice cream.
2. Hallgrimskirkja, the famous church in Reykjavik, known for its unique architecture and mesmerizing view of the city.
3. Harpa, the unique concert and event venue, known for its futuristic design and enjoys the best acoustics in the world.
4. Kolaportid Flea Market, get yourself a warm Icelandic sweater or other odd Icelandic products.
5. Hakarl, rotten shark which you can purchase at the Flea Market. The most horrid food in the world, the shark is buried in the soil for months and rot in its own juices in order to acquire this strange local delicacy.
6. Seabaron, hidden secret in the Reykjavik harbor where you can try the controversial Whale Steak and world's best lobster soup.
7. Svio, aka Icelandic Sheep's Head. An odd dish that can be ordered at certain local restaurants or at the BSI drive-thru. Creep out your friends by going all out by trying the tongue, nose and eye.
8. Northern Lights, its hit or miss with this event, best time to go is early February.
9. Blue Lagoon, nowadays not a hidden secret anymore, but a spot that cannot be missed. This incredible place is one of the wonders of the world and is world's biggest geothermal spa.

BONUS: Vegamot Restaurant, one of the better restaurants in Reykjavik.

LIFE AS A TOURIST IN ICELAND! (again) | Reykjavik Vlog #1
After 1 year, I am back again in Iceland! Last year, I did a road trip with my friends, David and April and even though we went to Reykjavik last year, I did not have enough footage to make a follow up vlog and so it was left on a cliffhanger.
This year, my friends and I are staying in Iceland's main capital for some partying and to check out Iceland Airwaves, a music festival that the country is famous for!
We will be exploring the country and seeing what the city has to offer, along with everyday first world problems like losing wi-fi and getting lost lol.
If you are reading this, let me know where in the world you would like to travel to and if you have ever been to a country more than once!
This vlog captures days 1 and 2 of my trip, so stay tuned for the remaining parts to come!

Martine and Alexis, the winners of the TripAdvisor and Reykjavik Excursions #unleashiceland sweepstakes, were beyond thrilled with their trip to Iceland – check out their experience below.
The trip to Iceland was the result of a long planning process that we at Reykjavik Excursions and TripAdvisor could not have done without the help from our friends at

Rotted Shark and Minke Whale on a Reykjavík Food Tour
While it’s fun to say, “Iceland’s diet is all about survival” (and much of it is), it also has a thriving foodie scene. To be sure I was up-to-date on eating in Reykjavík, I enjoyed a movable feast over the course of an evening with Valur, who runs a food tour company called “Your Friend in Reykjavík.” We recommend Valur’s food tours in our Rick Steves’ Iceland guidebook (ricksteves.com/iceland-book), and I wanted to personally experience every morsel.
In this clip, you’ll join Valur and me at just one of seven stops during an evening filled with edible memories. This stop highlights some traditional foods. After some tasty “Icelandic lobster” (langoustine) soup, I try minke whale — and Valur explains why Icelanders have no guilt about hunting them. Next up, it’s the notorious rotted shark, which smells like old cheese with ammonia...but is better than poison. (It’s best to wash it down with the local firewater, a.k.a. “black death.”) Much of Iceland’s cuisine certainly is all about survival.

Yo brothers, I am currently exploring the beautiful country Iceland and decided to film this street interview. I ask Icelandic women what would they prefer if they had to pick one, a guy with big muscles or a guy with a pretty face?
I hope you don't take this too seriously though because at the end of the day looks (face / muscles) DON'T matter. I've coached so many guys over my years and every student has been either good in the looks department or bad but once I was finished with them, they were literally attracting 10's left, right and center.
Anyway, I do hope you enjoy this video and if you did, be sure to share it with your friends.

ICELAND Travel Vlog | Horseback Riding and Exploring Reykjavik | Winter 2017
1. Horseback riding on a lava field at Rauðavatn was so surreal - to be sightseeing on an Icelandic horse! It was super awesome when the horses did the tölt, one of their natural gaits.
We did the tour with Viking Horses, which is unique, being a family run company. The instructor was very attentive, and they even took us upstairs for some Icelandic snacks after the ride!
Some other places we visited were:
1. Harpa (
2. Icelandic Handknitting Association ( for that perfect wool sweater
3. Glo ( a very delicious vegan restaurant
4. Icelandic Phallological Museum ( for plenty of laughs with your friends!
