Iki Island 2018 Day1
[ Maniac Japan Travel -Kyushu ]
Iki is situated off the coast of Kyushu between Fukuoka and South Korea and although it belongs to the Nagasaki prefecture, the easiest way to access it is actually from Fukuoka by ferry at Hakata Port, or from Karatsu in Saga prefecture. The island is stunning owing to its natural beauty and sandy beaches. Whilst it is possible to make a day trip to Iki Island, we highly recommend an overnight stay to fully experience a relaxing casual Japanese beach holiday and super fresh seafood! In particular, sea urchin is a speciality of the island. The island is very small so if you rent a car the whole island is easily accessible, which makes where you choose to stay on the island no real concern. The island is also easy to travel around by bicycle or scooter and while there is a bus, it is perhaps not the easiest way to get around. As such, if you don’t have transport with you, there are particular areas that may be better suited to stay in for your individual purposes. If you are looking for a soothing natural onsen (hot spring) experience, Yunomoto is the place to stay. If you plan to relax on the white sandy beaches, why not book a hotel in Ishida town? Wherever you stay, Iki Island is bound to be a wonderful trip for anyone that enjoys nature, fresh seafood, hot springs and adventuring somewhere off the beaten track.
