World's Longest Cantilever Viewing Platform to Open on May Day in Beijing
The world's longest cantilever viewing platform will begin to receive visitors in Beijing during the coming May Day holiday.
The viewing platform, to be covered by titanium alloy glass, is currently under final installation and testing.
The platform is unique in applying a combination of titanium alloy, alloy steel, inhaul cable and armored glass. Much of the titanium alloy reduces the weight of the structure, which is half the weight of conventional steel structures but twice as strong, according to the designer.
The viewing platform in Shilinxia tourist spot of Pinggu in Beijing is expected to expand its handling capacity.
As a top-class scenic area, the Shilinxia tourist spot handles some 300,000 visitors annually. But the limited space on the mountain peak restrained our development. The completion of the platform will enlarge the viewing area on the mountaintop and offer visitors different visual effect to appreciate the landscape they could not see in the past, said Wang Xiaodong, director of the Shilinxia administration.
The cantilever of the platform is 32.8 meters long, 11.4 meters longer than the Grand Canyon Skywalk in the United States and 6.12 meters longer than the Cloud Bridge at Yunyang Longgang Geological Park in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, currently known as the longest in the world.
As far as we know, the glass platform at Shilinxia claims three world records: the longest cantilever, the largest glass area and the first structure applying so much high-strength, low-weight and corrosion resistant titanium alloy, which used to be applied in the aviation industry only, said He Yunchang, designer of the platform.
The titanium alloy glass platform is located at an average elevation of 800 meters above sea level and 400 meters from the bottom of the valley. With a floor space of 713 square meters, its maximum load is 151.9 tons, capable to accommodate 1,900 tourists at a time. But the spot administration said it will allow only 200 visitors a time to guarantee safety when it goes into operation.

Yunyang Yangtze Bridge was located in Yunyang County ,Chongqing City, it’s the last Yangtze Bridge before the 2nd impoundment of three gorges project. The total length of the bridge is 1278.6 meters with the structure of cable-stayed bridge of high and low towers. It adopted more than 100,000 pcs full color EXC-52S Pixel products which make sorts of color reflecting like a dream. Overlooking Yunyang Bridge, soft lights flashing on both sides of bridge, the bright Red Chinese knot, Red peony, the flowing underwater world from the pixel lighting of rope. White light reflecting on the river, all of this makes the night fascinating and charming. The project was completed on Jan., 2016.

World's Longest Glass Skywalk to Open to Public in China's Chongqing
A glass skywalk jutting out from a 718 meter-high cliff for more than 26 meters in the Longgang scenic area of Yunyang County, southwest China's Chongqing Municipality will open to public on April 26, said the Chongqing government during a news conference Tuesday.
With the cantilever part of the bridge extending 26.68 meters from the edge, over five meters longer than the famous Grand Canyon Skywalk in the United States, the structure is dubbed the world's longest glass cantilever bridge.
The construction of the project at the height of 1010 meters started in March 2014 and has just been finished recently, local officials said.
Only 30 tourists will be allowed to get on the bridge each time, said the officials in the news conference.
Various performances including base jumping, fashion shows and acrobatic performances will be staged on April 26 on the skywalk during its opening ceremony, according to the local tourism authorities.
Performances on the cantilever bridge will indeed be different from those performed on the ground. The fashion shows and other performances staged high in the sky of more than 1,000 meters will be thrilling and exciting. It will be a brand new visual feast for visitors, said Peng Zhousong, director of the Yunyang Tourist Administration.
