Ep 19: Cycling Jade Mountain National Park in Taiwan!
Here it is! YuShan! We're SO excited to finally share the experience we had cycling in and up near the Jade Mountain peaks of YuShan National Park in Taiwan. It's a bit longer than the other vids...but there was just too much goodness we had to share! Yes, we skipped AliShan just down the road, instead finding YuShan the perfect place to immerse in the mountains and seek solace from the crowds.
What an epically beautiful journey it was in the highest mountains of Taiwan. Challenging. Rewarding. A freaking pleasure to be riding among these stunning giants in the clouds.

Also includes cycling bits of Sun Moon Lake and onward to Shuli (in the Nantou valley) to OldFive B&B where we wwoof'd for 5 days. It wasn't quite what we expected, but the setting was beautiful and we had a lovely stay nonetheless.

This is a video about our time on Xiao Liu Qiu Island off the southern coast of Taiwan. It's tiny, and is famous for having SEA TURTLES. (if you can't tell, we're just a little excited about the experience)
and yeah...we swam with sandals on (the reef was sharp! we're not castaway barefoot status ehh). we also cycled round the island...that was fun too...anyway...enjoy the turtles!

WWOOFING TAIWAN (RaD Ep 26) : Life on An Indigenous Homestead- DAWANA
Episode 26:
Our next stop on the trip was at Dawana. An incredible Wwoof homestead in an indigenous village near Taitung. We feel so lucky to have spent time with Lily and learned so much from her! We were even invited to her son's wedding (hence the photo!) and helped prep the home for a future celebration.

Our first week in Taiwan was spent in the capitol city of Taipei, a bustling place at the north end of this small island, filled with TONS of street food markets, milk tea shops and peeeeeople. After we killed off our serious jetlag, we had fun exploring the sights (mostly food markets haha) and even joined in Taipei's PRIDE march! Good times all around.

We spent a couple of nights in Chaiyi exploring the night market and the insane excitement-fest of the upcoming election (people are STOKED on voting here!) and then headed out to cycle the 175 coffee road on the way to Kaohsiung. Miss the mountains but overall, good days!

CYCLING TAIWAN | East Coast! (RaD Ep 27): Heading to Hualien
Episode 27:
Leaving Dawana Wwoof Homestead outside of Taitung and heading towards Hualien! Lily, our amazing host, decided to ride with us (full story on our Insta post) that day and we had an absolute blast.
Was really hard to say goodbye but alas, ‘twas time to cycle onward (our visa expiration date especially nudging us along)!
Short on time, we passed through Hualien and camped beachside close to the base of the Taroko Gorge route. Enjoy the ride!

The first few days of cycling in Taiwann we head out of Taipei city along cycle route 1 but quickly opt for a more countryside, mountainous, climby route. Alllll that climbing surely had it's rewards! Highly recommend to any touring cyclists who want to ride around the island...head inland on the West coast! It's tough, but so, so worth it.

GEEEEEAR! It's finally here! An overview of how we pack all our gear upon our bicycles for a year abroad cycling the world! I already have more detailed videos of gear breakdowns prepped to share as well (electronics, tools, clothing, etc.).

RaD Episode 21: City Explore
Riding back into a big ol' city....we liked Kaohsiung! Fun place, good city vibes, an art district and plenty of nature bits to explore (Monkey Mountain has a ton hiking paths!). Tainan for a day was nice but it didn't impress us as much. As Taiwan's oldest established city it had some cool spots and was worthy of a day trip for sure. Enjoy!

CYCLING TAIWAN - East Coast! (RaD Ep 25): Still Spinning Up the East Coast
Episode 25:
Continuing on from our lakeside campsite in Dawu, the sights along the coast were great, but the traffic and construction (and headwind!) kept us a bit distracted from the views out to the east. Still, sunny, blue sky days so can't complain too hard eh!
We were also stoked to finish our day riding into an indigenous village where we stayed for 3 weeks (our final WWOOF (wwoof.net) stay in Taiwan). And yes...there are more puppies...need I say more?! Watch on Rad Fam!
