Church of Our Lady of Graces (1641-1660) to admire the grandeur reflecting the devotion and pride of the people of Zabbar, who continued to embellish their church using their own funds. This architectural gem is lushly decorated, with a main painting of the Madonna and Child by Alessio Erardi, while a famous painting by Mattia Preti is on display in the adjoining Sanctuary Museum. VFGA - a Latin abbreviation for Votum Fecit, Gratiam Accipit - is imprinted on many of the paintings and artefacts found in the Sanctuary Museum, which refers to the graces granted due to the intercession of the Madonna tal-Grazzja (Our Lady of Graces) to whom many pray faithfully to this very day.

This church has 12 bells. 5 bells of peal, 6 bells used for carillons and 1 used for sign. The carillon bells are found by Packard. The two small bells are used for clock. The big, 4 and 5 big peal bells are founded by Gulju Cauchi and the 2nd and 3rd big bell are founded by Gwakkin Trigance. The big bell weighs 2800kg, the 2nd big bell weighs 2100kg, the 3rd big bell weighs 1450kg, the 4th big bell weighs 800kg and the small bell weighs 400kg.
Halloween Lantern Festival
A short promo I made to show all the hard work done by local residents in Levenshulme and West Point. They put this free Halloween Lantern Festival on for the community, and you can see how much people enjoyed it and got from it. A big thanks to everyone for getting so involved and into the spirit of things. I've just recently bought a video camera, so if you have an event or need a promo, feel free to inquire.

The carillon in Böttcherstrasse consists of 30 Meissen porcelain bells, which play a mixture of sea shanties and traditional folk songs.
The tower at the left side of the building contains ten wooden tablets depicting Atlantic conquerors – explorers who crossed the ocean by sea or air. The wooden tablets turn in time with the music.
The carillon delights visitors of all ages. It is an important and charming component of the overall work of art that is the Böttcherstrasse.
Built in the 1920s, this fascinating 110 metre-long lane houses shops and restaurants, museums, workshops and the famous Bremen's carillon. On Böttcherstrasse there is also the very interesting Seven Lazy Brothers fountain.
My Choice - Massenet: Meditation (Drawings of Guzeppi Theuma) [HD]
Meditation from the Opera Thaïs by the French composer, Jules Massenet. We're showing photos of drawings of several very old chapels found in Malta drawn by the Maltese Artist, Guzeppi Theuma.
Jules (Émile Frédéric) Massenet (1842 -- 1912) was a French composer best known for his operas. His compositions were very popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and he ranks as one of the greatest melodists of his era. Soon after his death, Massenet's style went out of fashion, and many of his operas fell into almost total oblivion.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Guzeppi Theuma was born in Paola, Malta in 1945. In 1964 he settled in the U.K., where he attended the Hertfordshire College of Arts in the City of St Albans.
In 1977 he returned to Malta and studied the visual arts development in his native country. In 1999 he joined with the Executive Committee of the Zabbar Sanctuary Museum where since 2004 he serves as the Secretary. His main priorities within the Commission are documentation and restoration coordination.
Guzeppi is better known for constructing metal and ceramic sculptures. Some of these have been exhibited in collective exhibitions in Malta and the U.K. But he also ventured into oil paintings, watercolours, cartoons, and recently, digital art. His digital impressions are uncomplicated. His palette of colours is at once logical, yet realistic of the subject he composes.
Virtually all of his creations depict an aspect of the uncompromising world that surrounds him. His effects of colour and light reveal the artist's sense of pursuit for the truth and this reflects in his intimate portrayal of life both still and alive. In the 80's, he was a leading caricaturist for several national papers.
He is considered as an art historian, an author of several publications, particularly about Maltese artists and their works. His latest publication being: L-Arti fil-Knejjes Minn Mitt Pittur Malti - A short biography of 100 Maltese painters -- cataloguing visually their works in Churches.
He is also a wonderful and pleasant human being and we're glad to call him a dear friend.
