Zahir Mosque- One of the Most Beautiful Mosques in the World | My Mosque
It is said that the Zahir Mosque is one of the top 30 most beautiful mosques in the world. It is a distinctive architectural landmark located in Alor Star, the state capital of Kedah. Built in 1912, it is one of the grandest and oldest mosques in Malaysia. There are 261 pillars within the Zahir Mosque even though the area is only 241 square feet. Five domes adorn the structur,e by which the main dome has a measurement of 45 feet in radius and 30 feet in height. The surrounding four domes have a radius of 16 feet and 15 feet in height. Malaysian, Indian and Middle Eastern design greatly influenced its structure. It is a sight to behold and an experience to visit.

MASJID ZAHIR ALOR SETAR CECAH 100 TAHUN [15 OKT 2015]
Masjid Zahir di Alor Setar, Kedah, hari ini mencecah usia 100 tahun, berdasarkan kepada tarikh perasmiannya iaitu pada Jumaat 15 Oktober 1915 oleh almarhum Sultan Abdul Hamid Shah.
Masjid yang tersenarai antara 10 masjid tercantik di dunia itu, berada pada kedudukan keempat selepas Masjidil Haram, Mekah; Masjid Nawabi, Madinah dan Masjid Al-Aqsa di Baitulmaqdis.
FAKHRUL RAZI ISMAIL meninjau keunikan masjid yang menjadi lambang kemasyhuran Islam di Kedah itu.

This magnificent mosque dominates the city centre, and is opposite the Padang town square packed with other historic buildings (see other clips on this channel). Although not open to non-Muslims, you can have a look around from the outside.

Alor Setar Tower of Kedah is the 2nd tallest tower in Malaysia and 19th tallest communication tower in the world. It stands at a height of 165.5 metres above ground level. There are two levels which are opened for visitors’ preying eyes. On one of the levels you will find Seri Angkasa Restaurant, where one can indulge a meal at the height of 100 metres. For those who would like to have a bird’s eye of Alor Setar, they can purchase a ticket and take a high speed lift to the observation deck at the height of 88 meters. Across the clear sky on a sunny day, visitors can see as far as Langkawi Island and enjoy the green scenery around Alor Setar.

Itulah ungkapan yang tepat mengenai kembalinya Gendang Pusaka Masjid Zahir Negeri Kedah.
Gendang Pusaka yang berusia 100 tahun ini pada tahun 2003 telah diserahkan kepada pihak Muzium Negeri Kedah untuk disimpan sementara kerana di Masjid Zahir tidak mempunyai ruang yang cukup untuk menampungnya.
Melalui inisiatif Penghulu Masjid Negeri, Al-Fadhil Ustaz Mohamad Jasni Abdullah bersama Media Masjid Zahir, memohon untuk mendapatkan semula Gendang Pusaka ini kerana ianya merupakan sebahagian daripada komponen sejarah milik Masjid Zahir.
Alhamdulillah, Allah mempermudahkan segala urusan, dengan perbincangan bersama pihak Muzium Negeri Kedah, akhirnya Gendang Pusaka ini kembali ke pangkuan Masjid Zahir Negeri Kedah.
Kepada Muslimin dan Muslimat yang ingin melihat secara dekat Gendang Pusaka ini, boleh berkunjung ke Masjid Zahir Negeri Kedah.
