Król się żeni! Rolka sztokholmska cz. 3 / Zamek Królewski w Warszawie - Muzeum
Król się żeni! Rolka sztokholmska – skarb Zamku Królewskiego w Warszawie
5 lutego – 10 marca 2019 r.
The King is Getting Married! The Stockhom Scroll – a Treasur of the Royal Casle in Warsaw
5 February – 10 March, 2019
The Royal Library
The Stockholm Scroll is a unique work of art measuring more than 15 m long. It depicts the ceremonial entry of the wedding procession of King Sigismund III and Archduchess Constance of Austria into Kraków on 4th December 1605. The frieze, painted on paper, shows members of the royal court, the szlachta, the army, horses and carriages, thus creating a fascinating cultural record of life in the Vasa era.
The Scroll most probably found its way to Stockholm as war booty acquired during the Swedish Deluge. In 1974 it was donated to the Royal Castle in Warsaw by the Swedish government on the initiative of the prime minister, Olof Palme.
The Swedish Scroll requires special environmental condi-tions which is why it is rarely displayed. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to see this splendid work of art.

Poland: Warsaw, Royal Castle (Part 2)
The Royal Castle ... the royal palace and official residence of the Polish monarchs; a magnificent example of baroque style - it was built in the 14th century. The personal offices of the king, as well as the administrative offices of the Royal Court of Poland were located there until the Partitions of Poland. Between 1926 and World War II the palace was the seat of the Polish president. In 1569 King Zygmunt III Waza moved his residence to the Royal Castle as Warsaw became the capital of Poland. Between 1598 and 1619 the king had the Royal Castle restyled into a polygon by Italian architects. In 18th century King Augustus III turned the East wing into Baroque style while King Stanislaw Poniatowski added the Royal library. The Royal castle served as both a residence for the kings as well as hosted Sejm sessions (Polish parliament).
History ... partially destroyed by German bombers during the Invasion of Poland, it was heavily damaged by German bombardment and artillery fire during the Warsaw Uprising. The remnants were blown up by German engineers in September 1944 and were not removed until 1971. Reconstructions were started in the early 1970s and in July 1974 the clock on the tower began working again, on the exact same time at which it was stopped by the Luftwaffe bombardment. Nowadays it is used as a branch of the National Museum and for ceremonial purposes. During the Siege of Warsaw in 1939 many of the works of art from the castle were transferred to several basements around Warsaw and hidden from German authorities. They survived the war and were put on exhibition in their original place.

AUSCHWITZ ✡ 2018
Welcome to my channel! ☺
In the beginning of March 2018 we went on a school trip to Auschwitz. It was extremly emotional and therefore it took me a while to put together this video.
In Auschwitz we were split into two groups with one guide each. We had to walk through security and then finally got a headset and started our tour.
As soon as we walked through the ”ARBEIT MACHT FREI” port we all got very quiet. We listened to the guide and looked around with empty faces. I don’t think that any of us could really comprehend what had actually happened here.
At the end of the tour there was a book of all registered victims of the holocaust. Their names, birth places, birth dates, death places and death dates were all written down. I had talked with my grandmother about this and she had told me that I actually had ancestors who were gassed. So I looked in that giant book and tried to find their names, I did. At that moment it got slightly more real.
MY relatives had been there, and right now I was walking on the same paths, looking at the same buildings, touching the same walls. Yet I was unable to feel the same feelings as they did. And that bothered me.
When I had spoken with people about this trip they told me about this really unsettling feeling that you’d feel as soon as you walked in to Auschwitz, but I didn’t feel it. Of course I felt upset, angry and unpleasant, but I didn’t feel THAT. I didn’t feel that what they had described.
The next day we went to Auschwitz two, Birkenau. Already upon entering it felt worse than the day before, although I still didn’t feel THAT.
We went up in the main tower and watched the railway from above. The thick fog disguised how big the area was, but as soon as we started walking we began to realize the greatness of it.
We walked past the countless barracks, looked inside some of them, saw the wooden bunk beds that they had to sleep at least 8 people in. Not per bunk bed, but per bed.
We went inside the children’s barrack, where they lived under the same cruel standards. When the bigger children had to go work with the adults, the smaller children had to stay in and clean the barrack.
We walked past one of the carriages, that when used had been packed with 100 deportees at a time.
We walked past the ruins of the gas chambers and crematoriums, the holes in the ground were they had dumped the ashes, the many rooms where they had to strip, get their hair cut off and put on the striped pyjamas that were given to them.
And when they finally reached the room where they were reunited with their families, it didn’t matter, because they didn’t recognize each other anyway.
When the tour was over I still didn’t feel like I had experienced the feeling that they were talking about, but as we were waiting to go, something extraordinary happened.
In the distance we saw a large group of jewish men walking along the railway, singing. I don’t know if it was a prayer, or a song, but it was beautiful. You could see the pain, the frustration, but most important of all, you could see the hope in their eyes.
And that was when it hit me. I suddenly could comprehend it all. Their ancestors had been here, but also mine. They were all killed here without a second thought, without the slightest hesitation. They were not only stripped of their clothes, but also their humanity. And I felt it.
I finally felt that extremely unsettling feeling filled with anxiety, despair, rage and fear. And I cried. I cried for all the victims. I cried for all the aggressors. I cried for how dangerously close we could be to this happening again.

Z wizytą u Krzyżaków. Cz.II. Castle of the Teutonic Order in Malbork. Part II.

Jakob Haberfeld Story Vodka Museum - otwarcie i prelekcja Mirosława Ganobisa.
