Iranian Farmers' Protests
Isfahan, Jan. 4, The farmers are chanting: “Death to [Hassan] Rouhani the liar” and “Rouhani you liar, what happened to our Zayandeh Rud.” Zayandeh Rud, the province’s main river, is the principal source of irrigation for the farmers. But due to the policies and projects undertaken by the government, the farmers’ access to the waters of Zayandeh Rud has degraded considerably. Hassan Rouhani, the incumbent president of the Iranian regime, has recurrently promised to solve the water problems of the farmers of Isfahan. But nearly halfway into his second term, he those promises have yet to materialize. That’s why the farmers are constantly calling him and other regime officials liars.

Farmers of Isfahan’s Varzaneh take to the streets again
Iran, Dec. 29, 2018 - The farmers of Varzaneh, Isfahan province, gathered and marched in the streets of the city in protest to unfair management and distribution of water sources. The past year has seen intermittent protests by the farmers, who have been deprived of vital water to irrigate their lands due to the destructive policies of the Iranian regime.
The Iranian regime has engaged in several dams and water channel creation projects to divert the waters of Isfahan and its famous Zayandeh Rud River for its own purposes. Among the disputed engagements is a water pipeline that is transferring Isfahan’s water to neighboring Yazd province. The measures have deeply damaged the agriculture in Isfahan, which is one of the main occupations of the province's population.
The protesting farmers were chanting, “Shame on this government.” Hassan Rouhani, the Iranian regime’s president, promised to solve the problems of the farmers of Isfahan. But nearly halfway into his second term, he has yet to do the least to restore the farmers’ access to water sources.
Knowing that the government’s promises can’t be trusted, the farmers were also chanting, “We will stand, we will fight and we will take back our rights.” They also shouted, “Our enemy is right here, [the government] is lying that it’s America,” a slogan that has become popular in the past year and reflects the people’s lack of buy-in to the regime’s propaganda pertaining to blaming foreign governments for the country’s economic problems.

Iranian Farmers In Isfahan Protest Against Water Shortage Caused By Regime's Incompetence
This condition has been going on for so long, it's mainly due to the Gotvand dam built by the regime on an area full of salt deposits.
Regime's incompetence in managing the country has become evident in every aspect of life in Iran, be it the economy or the environment, every since the islamist regime came to power in 1979, the whole country has been in decline to the point that many regions don't have access to drinking water.
Anti-Iran policies of the regime have exacerbated Iran's water problem, which is made worse by lack of investment and complete mismanagement. Instead of allocating resources to this extremely serious problem, the regime wastes Iran's resources in countries like Syria and Palestine.

Iran: Around 2,000 farmers protesting in Isfahan
In Isfahan, thousands of deprived farmers gathered at Khaju Bridge and the Zayandehrood dry riverbed. They demanded their water right and opening of waterflow to Zayandehrood, and protested against the failure to implement the deceptive promises of the regime. The protesters, in whom women had a very impressive presence, then marched toward Si-o-se Pol (33Pol Bridge) in a siege of repressive forces and pushing back the ranks of the mercenaries. A number of protesters prevented the advance of anti-riot forces by sitting down the street. A number of farmers also marched from Khorasgan towards Khaju Bridge. They chanted: Death to the oppressor, Peace be upon the farmer; farmer dies, he does not accept humiliation; victory comes from the God, death to this deceiving government is a deceitful person; Even if we die, we will get our water right; Zayandehrood water is our inalienable right; Our government is our shame; Liar Rouhani, where is our Zayandehrood; No nation has seen this much injustice; Police, beware, we are laborers not mobs; Our shame is our state Radio and TV.
The protest movement of farmers took place while the regime was trying to prevent the demonstration by mobilizing anti-riot guards and scores of plainclothes and other oppressive agents, as well as the deployment of armored vehicles and water cannons. Plainclothes criminals and state security forces attacked protesters, a large number of whom were elderly farmers. The clerical regime had slowed the internet lines in this area to prevent farmers from communicating with each other, and seized handsets from protesters.
The repressive agents were trying to prevent farmers’ advance by shooting in the air and arresting a number of them. The people resisted these brutalities and shouted “rapscallion, rapscallion”. They prevented the lectures of one of the regime's agents who came to the scene to deceive the farmers.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi saluted noble retirees in Tehran, Mashhad and other cities of the country, and the poor and hardworking Isfahan farmers who opposed the regime's oppression and discrimination, saying that repressive forces are trying in vain to stop these protests by mobilization of suppressive forces and imposing restrictions and arresting protesters. She called on the public, especially women and youth, to support the protests, saying that protests, demonstrations, and the uprising of the various strata of the people along with the resistance units will continue until the final victory.
