Tourists Flock to Witness Flowers Bloom in Cities across China
Tourists and amateur photographers flocked to various cities within China to enjoy the fresh colors of spring created by beautiful blooming flowers.
White cherry blossoms are beginning to bloom all over Liuzhi a special district in southwest China's Guizhou Province. The scene attracted tourists from all over to come and take photos of the picturesque landscape. The southwest China's Sichuan Province also welcomed the beautiful Sims Azalea.
The rapeseed flowers also produce a beautiful spectacle during the spring season. Many tourists go to east China's Anhui Province and northwest China's Shanxi Province to enjoy the beautiful view of rapeseed flowers.
It is such a beautiful scene. Here there is a large amount of rapeseed flowers. This place also has other tourist attractions like mountains, rivers and a bamboo raft attraction. It is definitely a pleasant place to travel to, said a tourist from Shanxi Province.
More than 700 hectares of peach flowers coated the Kowloon Gorge scenic spot in the city of Xingtai and magnolia flowers bloomed in Longxing temple in the Zhengding County. The forsythia flower and apricot flower blossomed in Xishan forest park in the city of Shijiazhuang.

International concern grows as a petition letter to rescue
Falun Gong practitioners from Hebei was sent to the US Congress.
The letter, endorsed by over 700 villagers from Zhengding
County who used thumbprints as signatures, was delivered by overseas Falun Gong practitioners.
Since then, villagers have met with intimidation from
the Politics and Law Committee of Hebei Province.
However, for months, locals have continued their activities
to rescue their detained Falun Gong friends.
Following the 700 thumbprints plea letter, locals of Zhengding
County, Hebei, have continued their solidarity with Falun Gong.
A second letter with 306 thumbprints and
a third with 903 thumbprints were made.
Recently, a fourth with 1108 thumbprints seeking the release
of illegally detained Falun Gong practitioner, Li Lankui, was also composed.
China Peace and Democracy Federation president and
political critic, Tang Boqiao: This is an awakening process.
With more and more exposure of the CCP crimes and the
innocence of Falun Gong, more people will show their support.
This is just a beginning, like the ancient saying,
'All things start with difficulty.'
Villagers who endorsed the petition letter with their signatures
or thumbprints are facing intimidation from officials.
On July 25, overseas Falun Gong practitioners formally
submitted to the U.S. House of Representatives
Foreign Affairs Committee a copy of the petition letter
endorsed with the thumbprints of 700 villagers.
The regime police also began large-scale repression
in the village at the same time.
Minghui.org reported that since the 700 thumbprint
endorsed letter was sent to the US Congress,
senior officials of the Politics and Law Committee of
Hebei Province set up station locally.
In pairs, they questioned villagers door-to-door and
threatened those who endorsed the letter.
Since late July, the 610 office and police, from the local
to the national level, have conducted a massive arrest.
16 Falun Gong practitioners and their families
were detained.
Falun Gong practitioner, Yang Yinchiao,
was forced to jump off a building to her death.
The abducted were covered with a black hood and
held at a secret location in the First Detention Center
of Shijiazhuang City while they were subjected to
torture in an effort to extract confessions.
Located in the yard of the detention center
is an organ transplant research center.
Under such harsh repression from officials, the second, third,
and even fourth petition letter endorsed with an increasing amount of thumbprints were composed.
Mr. Cao from Hebei: I sympathize with Falun Gong.
People have slowly awakened.
People are no longer willing to tolerate high-pressure
intimidation. They revolt.
The oppressive rule of the CCP is coming to an end.
Tang Boqiao: I think there are two factors.
One is the people's consciences awaken
when they learn more and more of the facts,
and the other is their fear decreases because
the CCP regime is going to be a thing of the past.
These two factors lead more people to dare
to stand up and speak out for Falun Gong.
In the past two years, the CCP central has been shocked
by the petition letters endorsed with thumbprints.
Jiang Zemin and Zhou Yongkang, the bloody hands gang,
are even more in fear for their crimes related to the persecution of Falun Gong.
Tang Boqiao: The Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance
insisted upon by Falun Gong practitioners are the opposite of the evil, violence, and lies that rule the CCP.
Falun Gong practitioners are like a magic mirror
that reflects the evilness of the CCP.
That is the fundamental reason
why the CCP persecutes Falun Gong.
Tang Boqiao also indicates that not all party members
are bad guys.
However, the CCP system is like a meat grinder,
in which people act involuntarily.
Tang Boqiao: Take the Ningbo rights defending activity
as an example.
Those police involved in the riot are not all necessarily bad.
But, the regime ordered the beating,
and they have to act accordingly.
It is understood that the three Falun Gong practitioners
have been illegally sent to labor camp, and three people were illegally arrested from Zhengding County.
Amnesty International issued an appealing document
on October 22 to call for rescue of the 6 people who were illegally sentenced and arrested.

Kaiyuan Temple, Quanzhou, China Kai元temple, Q u按周
On a rainy day we visited the Kaiyuan Temple 開元寺; Kaiyuan Si; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Khai-gôan-sī), also known as the Ziyun Hall 紫雲堂; Zǐyún táng; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Chí-hûn-tông), is a Buddhist temple on West Street, Quanzhou, China, the largest in Fujian province.
Although it is known as a Hindu-Buddhist temple, on account of added Tamil-Hindu influences, the main statue in the most important hall is that of Vairocana Buddha, the main Buddha according to Huayen-buddhism. What is now called the Mahavira Hall (Mahavira - the Great and Strong) is in fact the Vairocana Hall.
It was originally built in 685 or 686 during the Tang Dynasty. Behind its main hall Mahavira Hall”, there are some columns with fragments from a Shiva temple built in 1283 by the Tamil community in Quanzhou dedicated to Hindu God Shiva.
The carvings are dispersed across five primary sites in Quanzhou and the neighboring areas. They were made in the South Indian style, and share close similarities with 13th-century temples constructed in the Chola Nadu region in Tamil Nadu. Nearly all of the carvings were carved with greenish-gray granite, which was widely available in the nearby hills and used in the region's local architecture.
In 1983, the Kaiyuan Temple was designated as a national temple.

Who will pay for the $290 billion smog treatment?
Follow us on TWITTER:
Like us on FACEBOOK:
The smog has grown more and more severe and has spread,
causing a serious issue for the Chinese.
At the 4th Caixin Summit, experts reported that controlling
air pollution will cost $290 billion.
People question such a high figure.
They wonder whether the money will go towards improving
the air quality or simply line the officials' pockets.
The Chinese National Meteorological Center (NMC) issued
a yellow - meaning mid to heavy -- smog warning on Dec. 25
for the smog covering Beijing, Tianjin, and cities of Hebei,
Shanxi, Shandong, Henan, Shaanxi, Guanzhong and Jiangsu.
The smog will dissipate gradually from north to south
in the evening, the NMC informed.
Since Dec. 21, a yellow warning has been issued for Hebei.
In addition, Jilin, Shandong, and Jiangsu have also issued
haze warnings.
According to the PM2.5, the index that measures particle
matter, 16 out of 74 cities have heavily polluted air.
Among the 10 worst cities, six are located in Hebei,
and four - Shijiazhuang, Xingtai, Baoding, and Handan -
had PM2.5 measurements over 500.
Environmental NGO's in China recently held talks
regarding whether smog is a natural disaster or is man-made.
They discussed the latest report from the UN
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Wang Ke, professor at Renmin University in China,
indicated that China does not have an overall restriction goal
regarding carbon reduction.
It is understood that China's carbon footprint
is unprecedented.
Meanwhile, the Western world has taken steps
to reduce theirs.
Gong Shengli, commentator: It is certainly man-made.
In the five thousand years of Chinese history,
there has never been smog.
There are toxic particles in the smog, surely it is man-made.
I believe that Hu and Wen are the main culprits, because
they developed the economy at the risk of the quality.
Since December, smog has affected Southern China,
covering 25 provinces and more than 100 cities.
On Dec. 23, a wide range of thick smog affected
Shijiazhuang and Handan of Hebei province,
and also shrouded the eastern portion of Sichuan.
The severity of smog in Xi'an is also revealed in netizens'
online photos.
Famous Xi'an landmark Giant Wild Goose Pagoda
was shown in two photos taken on Oct. 24 and Dec. 18.
In the Oct. 24 photo, the Pagoda firmly stands center
and the background is clear.
In the Dec. 18 photo, this 1,300 year-old historical building
had disappeared; only the tree lines were visible.
Netizens ridiculed, Has the Pagoda been launched
(into flight)?
The whole nation celebrates the successful launch
of the Pagoda!
In addition, according to Zhengzhou City Traffic Patrol,
traffic cameras need to detect both traffic lights
and vehicle license plates for traffic control purposes.
However, if the smog is so heavy that human eyes can't see
the signals, the cameras won't be able to detect signals either.
At the 4th Caixin Summit, participants indicated that it will
cost $290 billion to improve China's air quality.
Chen Faqing, Hangzhou environmentalist: With such
a large investment in environmental pollution, of course
the 1.3 billion Chinese will bear the cost.
The air we breath has been so polluted but the media still
claims the air is good and is without pollution.
The Central officials don't care about this.
That's the main issue - more talk than action.
Billions of dollars is an astronomical sum for any city
in the world to invest.
As for whether this investment will truly improve
the air quality, only time will tell.
It is such an enormous sum and the masses
of Chinese have to foot the bill.

SUMMARY
=======
Hebei (河北; alternately Hopeh) is a province of China in the North China region. The modern province was established in 1911 as Chihli Province (Zhili Province). Its capital and largest city is Shijiazhuang. Its one-character abbreviation is 冀 (Jì), named after Ji Province, a Han dynasty province (zhou) that included what is now southern Hebei. The name Hebei literally means north of the river, referring to its location entirely to the north of the Yellow River. The modern province Chili Province was formed in 1911, when the central government dissolved the central governed area of Chihli, which means Directly Ruled (by the Imperial Court) until it was renamed as Hebei in 1928. A common alternate name for Hebei is Yānzhào (燕趙), after the state of Yan and state of Zhao that existed here during the Warring States period of early Chinese history.
Beijing and Tianjin Municipalities, which border each other, were carved out of Hebei. The province borders Liaoning to the northeast, Inner Mongolia to the north, Shanxi to the west, Henan to the south, and Shandong to the southeast. Bohai Bay of the Bohai Sea is to the east. A small part of Hebei, Sanhe Exclave, consisting of Sanhe, Dachang Hui Autonomous County, and Xianghe County, an exclave disjointed from the rest of the province, is wedged between the municipalities of Beijing and Tianjin.
With a population of over 74 million people, Hebei is China's sixth most populous province. The Han majority comprise 96% of the population, followed by a minority of Manchu, Hui and Mongol peoples.

=======
Xi Jinping (; Chinese: 习近平; Mandarin: [ɕǐ tɕîn.pʰǐŋ]; born 15 June 1953) is a Chinese politician serving as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), president of the People's Republic of China, and chairman of the Central Military Commission. Often described as China's paramount leader, in 2016 the CPC officially gave him the title of core leader. As general secretary, Xi holds an ex-officio seat on the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China, China's top decision-making body.Xi is the first general secretary born after the Second World War and the establishment of the People's Republic of China. The son of Chinese Communist veteran Xi Zhongxun, he was exiled to rural Yanchuan County as a teenager following his father's purge during the Cultural Revolution, and lived in a cave in the village of Liangjiahe, where he organised communal labourers. After studying at the Tsinghua University as a Worker-Peasant-Soldier Student, Xi rose through the ranks politically in China's coastal provinces. Xi was governor of Fujian province from 1999 to 2002, and governor, then party secretary of neighbouring Zhejiang province from 2002 to 2007. Following the dismissal of Chen Liangyu, Xi was transferred to Shanghai as party secretary for a brief period in 2007. He joined the Politburo Standing Committee and central secretariat in October 2007, spending the next five years as Hu Jintao's presumed successor. Xi was vice president from 2008 to 2013 and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission from 2010 to 2012.
Since assuming power, Xi has introduced far-ranging measures to enforce party discipline and to ensure internal unity. His signature anti-corruption campaign has led to the downfall of prominent incumbent and retired Communist Party officials, including members of the Politburo Standing Committee. Described as a Chinese nationalist, he has tightened restrictions over civil society and ideological discourse, advocating Internet censorship in China as the concept of internet sovereignty. Xi has called for further socialist market economic reforms, for governing according to the law and for strengthening legal institutions, with an emphasis on individual and national aspirations under the slogan Chinese Dream. He has also championed a more assertive foreign policy, particularly with regard to China–Japan relations, China's claims in the South China Sea, and its role as a leading advocate of free trade and globalization. Xi has sought to expand China's Eurasian influence through the One Belt One Road Initiative. The 2015 meeting between Xi and Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou marked the first time the political leaders of both sides of the Taiwan Strait have met since the end of the Chinese Civil War in 1950.Considered the central figure of the fifth generation of leadership of the People's Republic, Xi has significantly centralised institutional power by taking on a wide range of leadership positions, including chairing the newly formed National Security Commission, as well as new steering committees on economic and socia ...
