STORYLINE:
The Beijing Olympic Games brought promises of billions of dollars in investment to China as well as economic and social development, but the sporting dreams are lost on many including the country's last known cave dwellers in Guizhou Province, for whom survival is a daily struggle.
The Olympic dream and its promises of change ring hollow in the remote mountains of Zhongdong. The only echoes heard here belong to the dozens of impoverished children and their families who live in a 700-foot naturally formed cave.
These people are the last of China's known cave dwellers and for the 20 families who live here, life is hard. Many here have barely heard of the Olympics.
Most families survive on a meagre income and the few lucky ones make 1000 yuan a year.
