Zhongshan, formerly known as “Xiangshan”, a prefecture-level city in Guangdong Province, a national historical and cultural city, one of the central cities in the Pearl River Delta, an important node city in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and one of the regional central cities in Guangdong, and has maintained the fifth in Guangdong Province for many years. The total economic volume, together with Shunde, Nanhai and Dongguan, is known as the Guangdong Four Tigers.

Starting in the north side of town, I got to ride around a bit and enjoy the morning with a cup of coffee. I tried seeing a Cantonese movie. I didn’t understand any of it. I haven’t taken Cantonese lessons; one language at a time.
Afterwards I got to walk around San Xi Village in Zhongshan. It’s an older and historic part of the city but in recent years it has been turning into a gentrified, hipster area. There’s restaurants and coffee shops. The day we visited they were filming a TV show, so a lot of the businesses were closed, but it was still cool!

Today, I ventured off to Cuiheng Village in Central Zhongshan. It’s an area of the city that is surprising not easy to get to using public transportation and a taxi would cost a pretty penny. However, once you get here, it’s amazing.
The entire area is preserved. You can’t take pictures inside the house, but it’s free to get in. I was the only foreigner in the area and they made that known. It’s great little tour of Chinese history and the museum has a 1st class exhibits.
Afterwards I met up with some of my friends downtown for a little late night street BBQ and beers. It was a fun, late night.

The delegation also visited the Fired Up facilities in Nantou and were formally met by the local officials of the area.
