Zhongxing New Village Exploration Run
The former provincial capital of the Republic of China (although not recognized by the PRC) is only a half-hour's drive from where I live in Taiwan- Zhongxing (Jhongsing) New Village. My wife and I took advantage of the nice weather, loaded her folding bike, and jumped in the car.
I have been to this town in Nantou County many times in the past because there is a nice little 9-hole golf course there, but I had never taken a run there. We parked our car by a touristy park area where there was lots of kite-flying, but a few streets down we were essentially away from traffic and noise.
The town originally housed former military personal and has a psuedo-American feel to it, complete with sidewalks and ranch-style homes. It has a population of slightly over 25,000 and there are plans for a new industrial park to be built. There are also large open areas, and quite a selection of cafes and restaurants! It is also the site of my next planned marathon in November!

Sun Moon Lake Bikeway (Sun Moon Lake, Taiwan)
The Sun Moon Lake Bikeway / 向山美利達租車休閒廣場 is a 29km bike path encircling Sun Moon Lake with the 5.7km Shueishe to Xiangshan section of the route starting at Zhongxing Parking Lot (中興停車場) and ending at Boji Mountain (薄脊山) with vistas of Hanbi Peninsula and the Qinglong Mountain Range along the way. The section is suitable for all ages and offers abundant opportunities to rest, including at the Xiangshan Visitor Center.

薰衣草森林 Lavender Cottage
在薰衣草森的林入口售票亭繳完150元入園費後，工作人員會發放100元的森林幣。你可以選捧用來折抵園區的消費，或者拿回家當作紀念幣保存。
適合全家大小一同走入的大自然仙境素有紫色國度之稱的薰衣草森林，是一個坐落在台灣的台中必去旅遊景點，能讓人遠離都市的塵囂，感受大自然的愜意寧靜。
Lavender Cottage is among the famous places of interest in Taiwan situated quite a distance from Taichung, took about an hour ride (one way) for us to reach the location. The place is very well maintained and make sure to prepare yourself a camera as every corner great for instagram.
After paying the entrance fee of NT150 at the entrance hall of the Lavender Forest, the staff will issue NT100 of forest coins. Each of the coin can be used to offset the spending in the park, or can be taken home as a commemorative coin.
It’s really quite serene and s peaceful place to visit, especially the time when Lavender blooms. The Cottage is fully equipped with creative signboards so that visitors won’t get lost easily.
There is a Wishing Tree on the top of the hill. To get there, you may walk around the terraces where pots of Lavender plants till the top of the hill and you can see a vantage point area with a bell over there. Great view at the Wishing Tree spot.
Make a wish and place the written wish on the tree. Enjoy the ambience when there.
Not far away, there is building with a restaurant cafe. Lavender ice cream and food are available. Didn’t quite try the food, but it’s a nice place for a cuppa.
Lots of souvenirs shops including one where you can mail postcards to friends and yourself at the ground floor of the building!
Make sure there’s ample time allocated while visiting this place as one will need it to enjoy and not to rush. So if you are nature lover, you have to be there as it’s a really cool relaxing place.
