1.3 MILLION $ TOILET - TAIWAN ON FOOT #12
I'm Steve, I'm travelling in Taiwan on foot.
After spending the night a the temple I decided to quickly visit around before starting my day on the road.
Zushan zinan temple is one of the three major temple in Taiwan. It's not big but hundreds of people come here everyday for the lucky money. And they become thousands during the Chinese New Year.
The unique thing about this temple and that’s why it so popular is that people can borrow money up to 600 Taiwanese dollars for wealth investment and return them within a year.
A man who came to borrow money achieved a great success in his business that decided to donate a fortune to build up a toilet for the temple. This is a over 40 millions NTD restroom! It’s one of the most expensive public toilet in the world.

SLEEPING AT THE TEMPLE WITH OLD DANCING LADIES - TAIWAN ON FOOT #11
I'm Steve, I'm travelling in Taiwan on foot.
Back on the road after 4 nights at Sun Moon Lake. It's been just a walking day until the dark. Unable to find accommodation or a good place for free camping I ended up at Zhushan Zinan Temple hopping for a spot where to spend the night. Once there, after speaking with the people in charge to look after the temple I got not only a place for the night but some food too. Five boxes of mochi!
A bowl of noodles offered from a guy met a the temple and mochi for dinner. I ended up the day drinking my coffee watching a group of old ladies dancing at the stage next to the temple.

Shrimp Pancakes
Shrimp pancakes are one of the most popular dishes at local Thai restaurants. However, few people know that this dish isn’t actually from Thailand. Shrimp pancakes actually originated in Taiwan, incorporating Burmese and Vietnamese cuisine and finished off with a Taiwanese flavor. Many Thai people actually sample this dish for the first time upon arriving in Taiwan.
