Discovering Shiwan pottery| CCTV English
The Shiwan Town of Foshan city, Guangdong province, is a famous pottery production place in China, renown for its ceramic sculptures. The artistry of Shiwan pottery developed in the beginning with the production of functional items for daily use and gradually formed its own style starting in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

Ancient Chinese porcelain cherished in Mexico as symbol of friendship
This is the History Museum of Acapulco in the namesake city in southwestern Mexico.
The cannons, as well as the pentagon structure, attest to its previous life as Fort San Diego to fend off the aggressors.
In October 2016, Mexican archaeologists uncovered these thousands of fragments of a 400-year-old shipment of Chinese export-quality porcelain that was long buried in the Pacific Coast port of Acapulco.
The shipment of rice bowls, cups, plates and platters dates from the reign of the Ming Dynasty's 13th emperor, Wanli (1572-1620), and is believed to have arrived in Acapulco aboard the China Galleon, which regularly sailed between Asia and the New World.

Kung Fu demo
One of the local Kung Fu masters in Zibo, China gave a little flexibility and strength demo for me at the request of Anny's mom (his former instructor). Check out him supporting himself with two fingers. Ouch! This was in the main square in front of the ceramic museum where they had all the decorations for the Lantern Festival.

This lecture looks at some examples of Chinese ceramics with poetic inscriptions and explores how ceramics work as a surface for the appreciation of poetry, and how poems in turn enhance the richness of the ceramics on which they are written.
Luk Yu-ping is Curator of Chinese Collections in the Asian Department of the Victoria and Albert Museum. Previously she was Project Curator of the exhibition Ming: 50 Years that Changed China at the British Museum and Assistant Professor in the Department of Visual Studies at Lingnan University, Hong Kong. Her book, The Empress and the Heavenly Masters: A Study of the Ordination Scroll of Empress Zhang (1493), was published by the Chinese University Press in early 2016.
