Córdoba's Zoo, Córdoba, Córdoba Province, Argentina, South America
The Córdoba Zoo, or Zoo Córdoba, is a municipality located in the city of Córdoba, the capital of the Province of Córdoba, in central Argentina the zoo. This tourist attraction is one of the most representative of the urban landscape of the city. It was opened in 1915 and since then is one of the most popular rides by generations of Cordoba and tourists. It is located in the Parque Sarmiento, the largest landscaped green space in the city, located in the geographic center of the city, a few blocks from downtown, surrounded by one of the most densely populated areas. In 1886, under the government of Ambrosio Olmos and then to the development of the New Córdoba suburb south of the growing population of the city of Córdoba pot businessman Miguel presented a project to dismantle, level and develop so-called 'Upper Sud canyons that limited the expansion of the city. The project managed to make law, this expansion projected for the need to place a large green space, which will act as the lungs of the city, and it contubiera a zoo. In 1889, Miguel pot head commissioned designers French urbanist Carlos Thays the task of designing this park , which would be the first of dozens of ambitious landscaping projects that Thays take place in Argentina. Work began in 1890, with 17 acres of landscaped respecting one bellepoquiana perspective inaugurándolo and ending it in 1911, with the name Sarmiento Park in honor of the president of Argentina Domingo Faustino Sarmiento. The park and rose garden quickly became the favorite of high society to Córdoba environment. The works projected Zoo suffered delays and eventually suspended due to the political crisis in that época. A revival of the project occurs through the work of German-Argentine immigrant José Ricardo Scherer, who had experienced a naturist zoological and botanical studies conducted expeditions through Europe, Asia, Africa, and America. Scherer, to settle in the city and be surprised that it did not already own a zoo, a project designed to build, which in 1912 presented to Governor Felix T. Garzon, although not able to get positive results. Later the same Scherer presented a new draft to the governor José Ramón Carcano, by a new provincial administration. This one managed to be passed with the number 4554 , Series A of December 16, 1914, whichever location for the area known as Barranca de los Loros, thereby calling on the grounds that it had been a breeding center serrano Burrowing Parrot (Cyanoliseus patagonus Conlara), the subspecies of Burrowing Parrots of central Argentina . Its designers and architects thought to exhibit a collection of the most prominent animals from various continents , in a setting of lush native vegetation of the mountains of Cordoba. Thus, finally the December 25, 1915, was inaugurated zoo. For the best display of copies, pens and cages in accordance with criteria in vogue at the time, ie rather small cages, many artificial cement floors were built, and surrounded by bars, ie Victorian , as with all the zoos in the world. Since 1990, the zoo concession is assigned to different companies for commercial exploitation. In that year, the company Aeroruta SA, managed by Gabriel Alcazar, won the first award of the zoo, still controlled by the province, who by then was ruled by Eduardo Angeloz. A year later, after a bankruptcy process, the firm entered for bankruptcy. While the city council of the city demanded the end of the lease for breach of works promised in the bid specifications, the concession was transferred to another private company: total, with the approval of the municipal executive. After 10 months, the firm leaves the concession Add as some of its members, who were also Reference Managers zoo by a court complaint the accused of fraud. In 1994, the province transferred the license of the property (and around the Parque Sarmiento ) to the municipality of Cordova. In 2003 , during the administration of Germán Kammerath the grant into the hands of Employer: Agricultural Inputs , managed by Juan Carlos Conti. This firm was still the holder of the concession in 2012. Already in the XXI century, the zoo incorporated the new worldwide trends prevailing in modern zoos. El Chaltén, Lago Argentino, Santa Cruz Province, Patagonia, Argentina, South America
El Chaltén is a small mountain village in Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. It is located in the riverside of Río de las Vueltas, within the Los Glaciares National Park (section Reserva Nacional Zona Viedma) at the base of Cerro Torre and Cerro Fitz Roy mountains, both popular for climbing. For this reason this village was named Argentina's Trekking Capital or Capital Nacional del Trekking. The village was built in 1985 to help secure the disputed border with Chile. Today the sole reason for its existence is tourism. It is 220 km north of El Calafate. Chaltén is a tehuelche word meaning smoking mountain, as they believe it was a volcano for its peak is most of the time covered by clouds. Other visited tracks and sights are Torre Glacier, Laguna Capri, Piedras Blancas Glacier, Chorrillo del Salto, and Laguna de los Tres. The village provides national park information for visitors, as well as commercial camping (with showers) and a very limited number of beds, catering mostly for backpackers. On the treks outside of the village free campsites are provided. There are two automated teller machines and relatively no cell phone service. The tourist trade has spawned a few restaurants and shops in town, with a large variety of outdoor equipment for sale, while some of the accommodations provide internet and phone access and show regular movies. Other than that, the town is fairly far removed from the normal flow of news and communication, even during high season (November--February). The town is nearly deserted during off-season (the southern hemisphere winter). El Chaltén has a dry yet unpredictable climate, with light precipitation distributed on a large number of days despite the semi-arid setting, bad weather is exceedingly common. Summers experience long daylight hours, very windy weather, and cool temperatures, mostly below 18°C (65°F) during the day and below 5°C (41°F) during the night. Frost can and does occur in the summer too. Winters bring snow in moderate quantities, and average temperatures around 3°C (37°F) during the day and --4°C (25°F) during the night; however, the coldest nights are much colder than this. Spring and fall are variable, but generally cold as well.

Puerto Rawson, Chubut Province, Argentina, South America
Rawson is the capital of the Argentine province of Chubut, in Patagonia. It has about 26,000 inhabitants, and it is the head town of the Rawson Department, which has 122,000 inhabitants. Even though it is the provincial capital, its population is smaller than that of other cities in Chubut: Comodoro Rivadavia, Trelew, Puerto Madryn and Esquel. Rawson became the provincial capital in 1957, when Chubut was constituted as a province. Rawson is located on National Route 3, about 1,360 kilometres south of Buenos Aires, some 20 kilometres from both Trelew and it is served by the Almirante Marco Andrés Zar Airport in Trelew. It is crossed by the Chubut River, over which the first bridge was built in 1889. Playa Unión, Rawson's resort beach, is 6 km from the city centre. The city has a fishing port, Puerto Rawson, on the Atlantic coast, 5 km down the river. Provincial administration and the port are the main economical activities in the city.
There are two small museums in Rawson. The City Museum has historical objects and old photographs. The Don Bosco Museum has a collection of local history and wildlife, including artefacts from the Welsh community. The General San Martín Zoo and Park covers 6 hectares of the shore of the Chubut River. Rawson's climate is dry, with temperatures in the range of 0 °C to 15 °C in winter, and 10 °C to 20 °C in spring and autumn, with peaks of up to 38 °C in summer. The town was officially founded on September 15, 1865, by Colonel Julián Murga, and settled by newly arrived immigrants from Wales. It was named after Dr. Guillermo Rawson, the Argentine Interior Minister of the time, who supported the Welsh settlement in Argentina. Substantial construction of government buildings in the 1970s resulted in the town being nicknamed The little Brasilia of Patagonia. It was originally known as Trerawson, Welsh for Rawson's town, a name it still retains among Welsh speakers and some older residents. The first settlement in the area of Rawson was founded by Henry Libanus Jones, a Welsh explorer and cattle dealer who had been living in Buenos Aires since 1810. In 1854 he founded a forward post for expeditions of hunting and collection of wild cattle at the border of Chubut river. These precarious constructions were abandoned soon after, but they were found and taken advantage of by the first Welsh settlers who disembarked from the clipper Mimosa in Puerto Madryn at July 28, 1865. Immediately they explored towards the south in search of fresh water, until they came to the river. Mimosa's settlers called the fort Caer Antur (Welsh=Adventure Fort) or Yr Hen Amddiffinfa (Welsh=the old bunker, or old bunker). One of the settlers of the Mimosa, Abraham Matthews, describes the constructions like this: The place that we denominated Yr Hen Amddiffinfa was a portion of land surrounded by a pit measuring sixty to one hundred yards in diameter. These men had excavated the pit and thrown the soil in, so that when raised to the tide the pit is filled of water, and thus more insurances felt, because according to it was said, the Indians of the Patagonia never crossed the water to attack. Despite the numerous studies made, the location of the fort in relation to the modern city does not exist today, since the river has changed course since then, and no remains of the fort can be found today.

OUR ARGENTINA TRIP STARTS NOW! | Visiting Buenos Aires for 3 Days
Our Argentina trip starts now! The biggest travel and food series we've ever created is kicking off in this travel blog by visiting Buenos Aires for 3 days. Firstly, we highlight our flight from Toronto to Buenos Aires in the dead of winter in Canada arriving in Argentina in mid-summer - a 70 degree weather change!
Our first order of business in Buenos Aires is to grab great local food in Recoleta so we head over to one of favorite restaurants in the city Bodegon Norte to grab a meal consisting of Milanesa, salad, ravioli pasta with a bottle of Argentine wine. We then grab Argentine ice cream (helado) at Rapa Nui including dulce de leche flavour.
We start off day two with breakfast in Buenos Aires at La Biela having cafe con leche with media luna. Afterwards we check out the nicest bookstore in the city, and one of the most beautiful in the world, El Ateneo before grabbing pizza slices at Banchero. We finish the day off visiting Recoleta cemetery one of the most famous attractions in Buenos Aires.
For our last day in Buenos Aires we start off with facturas and coffee for breakfast before heading to Puerto Madero for a stroll and a ship museum. For lunch we have delicious Argentine parrilla (grilled beef) with Malbec wine.
Overall, this was our 3 days itinerary in Buenos Aires. We'll be back again soon!

OUR ARGENTINA TRIP STARTS NOW! | Visiting Buenos Aires for 3 Days:
Hey guys! We are Samuel and Audrey, a travel vlogging couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world.
We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country.
We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey's parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba visiting both La Cumbrecita and Villa General Belgrano with highlights including hiking and delicious German and Swiss cuisine.
From Cordoba, we then travelled a considerable distance on an overnight bus to Mar Del Plata just in time for a special food festival called Feria Masticar featuring the best of Argentine food and wine. We spent several days enjoying beaches and seafood before heading south to Patagonia to visit the province of Chubut.
While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina.
Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival.
We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey's dad again.
To finish off our trip in Argentina, we spent more time in the capital and later Mendoza where we got to experience wine tourism to its fullest extent. Overall, we had an amazing time travelling around Argentina having only scratched the surface of this vast and diverse country.
Overall our Argentina travel series explores cities, small towns that are off-the-beaten-path, and scenic attractions with a strong emphasis on Argentina cuisine and local culture.
