It proudly shows surprised visitors its art nouveau façades, elegant streets and squares. But the highlight is the 19th century Cogels-Osylei: sublime architecture from around the turn of the previous century.

Zurenborg - Antwerp Belgium's Art Nouveau Neighbourhood. The most famous street in the district of Zurenborg in southern Antwerp, Cogels-Osylei developed as a home of the wealthy between 1894 en 1906. Local architects designed mansions using a vaste range of styles: Art Nouveau, the revival styles as Gothic Revival, Neo-Renaissance, Greek Revival, Neoclassical, and the cottage style that coincided with British Tudorbethan architecture. With mosaics, statues, turrets and ironwork, the houses can be palatial, artistic or splendidly flamboyant. The most striking characteristic is the extraordinary individuality expressed in such a concentrated area.
De Cogels-Osylei is de meest prestigieuze woonstraat van de residentiële wijk Zurenborg gelegen in de Belgische plaats Antwerpen, Berchem. Tientallen kapitale burgerhuizen worden tentoongesteld die stuk voor stuk zijn opgetrokken tijdens de eeuwwisseling van de 19de met de 20ste eeuw in een typische belle époque. Hun fraaie gevels rijgen er aaneen in een bizarre vermenging van jugendstil, art nouveau, eclectische stijl en neoclassicisme. Zurenborg - Le quartier Art Nouveau d'Anvers en Belgique. La rue la plus célèbre du quartier de Zurenborg au sud d'Anvers, Cogels-Osylei s'est développée entre 1894 et 1906 pour devenir la maison des riches. Les architectes locaux ont conçu des hôtels particuliers en utilisant un large éventail de styles : L'Art Nouveau, les styles de renaissance comme le néo-gothique, le néo-renaissance, le néo-grec, le néoclassique et le style cottage qui coïncide avec l'architecture britannique du Tudorbethan. Avec ses mosaïques, ses statues, ses tourelles et ses ferronneries, les maisons peuvent être palatiales, artistiques ou splendidement flamboyantes. Antwerp, Belgium: Cogels Osylei, a mix of architectural styles
The area around Cogels Oyslei (Cogels Oys´s avenue) in the Zurenborg district is an architectural gem from the early 20th century. There is a mix of houses and buildings in different styles: Art Nouveau, neogothic, neorennaissance, neoclassical, French Beaux Arts. It is a short tram ride from the city center.
Vleeshuis Antwerp
A short introduction to the Vleeshuis of Antwerp. Dating all the way back to 1501. It was used by the butcher guilds. Now it is a museum for musical instruments.

Als je in Antwerpen-Centraal van de trein stapt, duik je meteen in een multi-culinaire smeltkroes. Chinese restaurants, Afrikaanse bars en Marokkaanse groentenwinkels. Culinair journaliste Daphne Aalders startte er met culinaire wandelingen en heeft ook een kookstudio Food for Foodies op het De Coninckplein.
Geen Antwerpse stationsbuurt zonder de diamantwijk. En geen diamant zonder de Joodse gemeenschap. Vincent Verelst slaat een brug en eet de beste falafels van 't stad bij Beni Falafel.
Als je het juiste tunneltje kiest en het spoor onderdoor rijdt kom je in een andere wereld terecht: de wonderlijke wijk Zurenborg. Vincent woont er nu twee jaar en vergelijkt het graag met een dorp. Maar wat voor een dorp!
Dorpsbakker Domestic heeft dezelfde uitbaters als het bekende sterrenrestaurant Le Dome en het exquise visrestaurant Dome sur mèr. Ah oui!
De hoofdstraat van het dorp is de vermaarde Cogels-Osylei. Met twee unieke huizenrijen in onvervalste Jugendstil is het meteen ook de mooiste straat van het land.
