EGYPT 635 - EL KAB V - (by Egyptahotep)
This area called El Kab belongs to the ancient cities of Nekheb and Nekhen. El Kab on the east bank of the Nile River (Nekheb) and the older Nekhen, now known as Kom el Ahmar (the Red Mound) on the west bank. Both cities were religious centers that date from the pre Dynastic period.
Besides of many Tombs Here are Other interesting mouments:
Going to the valley we can see a rock sanctuary dedicated to Seshmetet. at the southeast there is a temple of Nekhbet which has two halls with Hathor columns and a sanctuary within the rock. This was built by Rameses II,(besides There is a stela of Rameses II engraved in the facade). The reliefs inside the temple are not well preserved, but the steps leading up to it and the courtyard were restored recently,
Near of the road there is a square chapel called currently el-Hammam (the bath), which was a small chapel dedicated to local gods.
A few Km going along the road we can find a small temple dedicated to Hathor and Nekhbet, built by Tuthmose IV and Amenhotep III. This is a small temple but inside is bigger than it seems at first sight from outside. The Hathoric Columns Are Beautiful and the color of the paintings on the wall reliefs inside the temple is very well preserved, showing Tuthmose IV and his son Amenhotep III.

Sailing the Nile in Style
Sailing the Nile in Style on a Dahabiya in March 2018.
We were met by Nour el Nil in Luxor and met the boat in Esna. Over the next 5 days we sailed up the Nile to Aswan with stops in Edfu, El Kab, Gebel Silsileh, and Kom Ombo.
Cruising the Nile is the best way to discover the ancient wonders of Egypt.
Sailing on a Dahabiya is the more intimate option of experiencing the river and get to an authentic insight into the people who live and work along its shores.
Definitely a bucket list trip.

The most important tourist places in Egypt || Mew Play
Since the revolution in 2011 and the ongoing counter-revolution, tourists have fled Egypt to a large extent. This has created an opportunity for unique experiences of places in Egypt to visit without the crowds. Finding yourself alone inside a pyramid is now a real possibility.
#Dahab
Dahab is located some 85 km (53 miles) north of Sharm el-Sheikh on the Gulf of Aqaba, near the southern tip of Sinai. Once an isolated coastal village, Dahab turned into a hippie hangout in the 1980′s and became something of an “alternative resort”, mixing cheap accommodation with a laid back lifestyle.
#Siwa Oasis
Located near Egypt’s western border, Siwa Oasis remained culturally isolated from the rest of the country until late in the 19th century. Today, Siwa Oasis is an increasingly popular travel destination. Vacationers come to the city to enjoy the town’s many freshwater springs, to stroll through acres of palm groves and to explore ancient mud-built fortresses and remnants of Siwa’s Greco-Roman past.
#Giza_Necropolis
The Giza necropolis, situated in the immediate vicinity of the southwestern suburbs of Cairo is probably the most famous ancient site in the world. The pyramids, together with the Sphinx at the base of the Giza plateau, are the iconic image of Egypt. They were built over the span of three generations – by Khufu, his second reigning son Khafre, and his grandson Menkaure. Along with these major monuments are a number of smaller satellite structures, known as queen pyramids, causeways and temples.
#Luxor
One thousand years after the construction of the Great Pyramids, the New Kingdom arose in Egypt, and power shifted from the ancient capital of Memphis to Thebes in the south, the site of modern-day Luxor. One of the best places to visit in Egpypt, the mid-sized city has much to offer the traveler from the ancient temples of Karnak and Luxor, to the ancient royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings and Queens, and spectacular desert and river scenery.
#Aswan
Egypt’s southernmost city, Aswan is a mid-sized city located north of Lake Nasser. Although its own monuments are minor compared to Luxor’s, Aswan is the base for excursions to the temples of Philae and Kabasha and to the Sun Temple of Ramses II at Abu Simbel, to the south. It is also the best starting point for excursions to the temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu, between Aswan and Luxor.

Nile
------
The River Nile is about 6,670 km (4,160 miles) in length and is the longest river in Africa and in the world. Although it is generally associated with Egypt, only 22% of the Nile’s course runs through Egypt.
In Egypt, the River Nile creates a fertile green valley across the desert. It was by the banks of the river that one of the oldest civilizations in the world began. The ancient Egyptians lived and farmed along the Nile, using the soil to produce food for themselves and their animals.
Where is the River Nile?
The River Nile is in Africa. It originates in Burundi, south of the equator, and flows northward through northeastern Africa, eventually flowing through Egypt and finally draining into the Mediterranean Sea
Where is the source of the River Nile?
Lake Victoria, Africa's biggest lake, is generally thought of as the source of the River Nile. On the northern edge of the lake, water pours over a waterfall, known as Ripon Falls, into a narrow opening which some people believe is the beginning of the River Nile.
The true source of the River Nile
Ripon Falls may be the starting-point of the river, but the many streams that flow into Lake Victoria could claim to be the true source.
Much of Lake Victoria is surrounded by mountains with streams tumbling down into the lake. The largest tributary of Lake Victoria is the Kagera river. The Kagera and its tributary the Ruvubu, with its headwaters in Burundi, is now considered to be the true source of the Nile. It is from here that the Nile is measured as the world's longest river.
What are the two main rivers that flow into the River Nile?
Map of tghe River NileThe River Nile is formed from the White Nile, which originates at Lake Victoria and the Blue Nile, which originates at Lake Tana in Ethiopia. These rivers meet in Sudan and then go on their long journey northwards towards the sea.
The White Nile is a lot bigger than the Blue Nile, but because of losses along the way the it only contributes about 15% to the flow of the combined Nile. The Blue Nile, rising in Ethiopia, contributes about 85% to the flow of the Nile that passes through Egypt to the Mediterranean.
Why did the Ancient Egyptians live near the River Nile?
Most Egyptians lived near the Nile as it provided water, food, transportation and excellent soil for growing food.
Why was the Nile River so important to the Ancient Egyptians?
Ancient Egypt could not have existed without the river Nile. Since rainfall is almost non-existent in Egypt, the floods provided the only source of moisture to sustain crops.
Every year, heavy summer rain in the Ethiopian highlands, sent a torrent of water that overflowed the banks of the Nile. When the floods went down it left thick rich mud (black silt) which was excellent soil to plant seeds in after it had been ploughed.
The ancient Egyptians could grow crops only in the mud left behind when the Nile flooded. So they all had fields all along the River Nile.
What else did the Nile provide for the Ancient Egyptians?
Reeds, called papyrus, grew along side the Nile. The Egyptians made paper and boats from the reeds.
Find out about Egyptian Writing
The Nile also gave the ancient Egyptians food. They used spears and nets to catch fish. They would also use the nets to catch birds that flew close to the surface of the water.
Another way the Nile helped the ancient Egyptians was in trade. The Nile was the quickest and easiest way to travel from place to place.
What was the area next to the River Nile called?
This area was known as the Black Land. Further away from the river was the Red Land, a region of inhospitable desert.
When did the Nile flood?
